OnPay is a cloud-based payroll solution that helps small businesses automate tax filing and payment workflows. Key features include employee self-onboarding, new hire reporting, automated payroll taxations and scheduled pay runs.

OnPay provides an employee portal for updating information, onboarding and accessing past pay stubs and tax forms. Businesses can track their employees’ PTO, vacation and sick leaves. The solution provides a document vault for storing contracts and employee notes. It offers integration with third-party applications like Xero, QuickBooks, Guideline, Humanity, Kabbage and more.

Another employee management feature offered by OnPay is 401(k) planning that helps employees plan for their retirement. The solution manages compliance, deductions and investment portfolios for users. It also allows employees to access their pay stubs and W2 forms online.

OnPay offers services on a monthly subscription basis that includes support via phone and through an online knowledge base.

Pros

Cheapest option I've seen. Unlimited pay runs for one monthly fee. The support team is very responsive and willing to research questions.

Cons

Not the most full featured offering. The timeclock integration with WhenIWork works alright, but there are some challenges in getting it set up.

Pros

It is very easy to set up, and to utilize each pay cycle.

Cons

This is the second company where I have used OnPay. I am not a payroll expert, but nothing comes to mind in response to this question.

OnPay's customer service team is extremely responsive and thorough. I had an issue with my local tax office that they took care of immediately.

Pros

Very easy to set up and add employees. Being able to take care of worker's compensation via OnPay's partners was also very convenient.

Cons

Tracking vacation pay for salaried employees is not as straight forward as it could be.

Excellent online software program & customer support. The chat assistance is a awesome feature. I can always get someone to help me when I get stuck or its been awhile since I created a payroll or adding a profile.

Pros

The software is easy to use & access. Set up with the OnPay Team was quick and easy. I switched from a CPA based payroll system to doing it with OnPay and saved myself a lot of money. Definitely worth the effort. Highly recommend it if your a small business like me!

Cons

Not every tax form is done for me being a NV based business. If they did the NV Business Use Tax Form for me I would have reduced my Tax form handling 100%. As is I still have to file that form online myself.

As it was my first time to do an online payroll system I wanted a program which filed all the paperwork for me and keep track of my payroll. I like the fact that i have a number which i can call to talk to someone regarding issues i may have, like when i had to add a payroll deduction. I can also chat online immediately with OnPay employee to explain any new things that i am starting or having problems with.

Cons

When i first started working in the software I was somewhat lost, until i watched some videos and called the customer service line, this is important to get everything correct before you start working on the program, maybe just a start-up letter would have helped me during those initial few days.

I really love this online payroll service. After a lot of research of a variety of payroll options, we moved from Paychex to OnPay a couple of years ago and it was absolutely the right move. I can't speak for large companies, but for small and medium sized companies I do believe this is the best, most reliable and most economical service available.

Pros

I run a small business and onpay is perfect for processing our payroll. Some of the features we love:
1) Easy to use interface
2) Employees enter all their own bank information, withholdings, etc.
2) Employees can log in to download their own tax forms, details of previous pay runs, etc. (I don't need to print or distribute these forms or information.)
3) Onpay takes care of all the appropriate taxes, etc.
4) Although I am on a biweekly pay cycle, I can run a payroll whenever I want. (For instance, I can make a separate holiday bonus run)
5) I can easily switch between paper checks or direct deposit if needed
6) It's easy to adjust an employees pay or add other categories of payment
7) Great customer support. Whenever I have had a question or needed assistance, I have had the answer pleasantly and quickly
8) It's a great value and you get what is promised. I don't get any emails asking me to purchase other services or upgrade or other things that I don't need.
9) The transition from our previous payroll service to Onpay was easy and seamless.

Cons

When I am out of the country, I have a hard time running payroll. I know this has to do with internet security, but I wish there was a straight-forward way to accommodate this issue.

OnPay does everything I need from a payroll perspective, from onboarding through WA State L&I taxes & federal payroll taxes. It makes being a business owner so much simpler than some of the payroll horror stories I've heard.

Pros

It's web-based, so I can access it from anywhere. This is a big benefit as I'm not always at the shop when I need to add an employee or check out if someone has PTO or something to that effect. The price is fantastic and the support has been superb. I've had to open a couple of support tickets due to issues I had early on with not understanding how to do payroll (brand new business owner) and they've been phenomenal. Very fast support response and they're always helpful.

Cons

It's likely not so much a con against OnPay as it is against payroll in general, but the process was a little confusing at first. Figuring out which payroll items to use for things like QSEHRA wasn't immediately obvious, but looking through the Knowledge Base or asking their support team I was eventually able to figure it out. This did mean I needed to make some retroactive corrections which OnPay was able to handle for me.

Pros

OnPay is fantastic. I can't imagine you will be disappointed with their outstanding service.

Pros

I have been using OnPay for my company's payroll needs since November 2016 and it is fantastic. It is one stop shopping for all of my payroll needs from the overall functionality of the system to the payroll and tax reports the system prepares (and files) on my behalf. But my most favorite feature of this system is their chat functionality. When I am running payroll or have questions, they are always available to me and help me with my questions and issues. They walk me through every step and sometimes even suggest a phone call to help me with my issues. I've never been left w any issue outstanding. It is fantastic.

Cons

My accountant doesn't love the way the data exports out of the OnPay system into my Quickbooks company file.

As a business owner, I needed a payroll service that was separate from my employees so that I could reduce high fees and work comp premiums charged by another company I use. I can now also keep my pay private from managers in my company who run payroll. Set-up was a breeze and I have not experienced a single issue while using OnPay.

Payroll can't be any easier for someone who's never done payroll before. And help is always around the corner.

Pros

What's not to love? The monthly fee is very reasonable & includes remitting payroll taxes, filing quarterly returns, prompt customer service, and generating W2s & 1099s. They also guarantee their calculations & filings, so if you incur a penalty, they'll pay it.

Cons

Have to think about this... nope, nothing!
