Jira took zero training on my part--it was very easy to learn how to use which was a huge plus compared to a lot of other IT management softwares.

Pros

I love how Jira makes it easy to loop in the necessary parties into a ticket or question. It's also very easy to run and filter reports to see only the information you need. For example, I am an HR professional who is involved in new hire IT setup. I can omit the cases that aren't relevant to me and set up automated reports for easy checks and balances.

Cons

Honestly, I can't really think of anything besides the fact that it's harder to see who made changes to a ticket without looking at the comments. But that's not a huge deal to me, as long as it's done.

This is an issue trackings tool.thi software helps to manage issue in an efficient manner. It allows you to create sprints, issues add estimations assign issue and start working on them. We can also use Jira to track the project documentation. You can create various types of issues like improvements, bugs, epic, story, tasks, sub tasks etc. We can add comments as per the changing requirements on the issue and add worklog to track the total time required to complete the issue. We can use the Jira workflow to manage the issue in each phase of the software development life cycle.

Pros

Easy to use.
It is fimilar across the boundries.
We can integrate the third party tools like hipchat.

Cons

It is slightly costly to use for the small scale project. There is no proper impormation about each module in the software for example help tips.

Value for Money

Pros

It helps me complete my everyday tasks, enabling a great team environment and to keep track of our tasks. It will help you get track of your monthly or even yearly work and when it comes to produce your annual report all information will be there for you to use it.

Cons

When you start using it, you will not want to go back to more traditional methods such as using a white board with paper. Sometimes you need to implement some small features to create integrations with your company software and the API even tough it's huge, it misses in some flexibility here and there.

We use JIRA throughout our company across different teams. They use different workflows and issue types which we all can share and collaborate on as well. I don't recall any other tool out there that can provide such robust experience for all teams, whether they use sprint based approach or not.

Pros

can work for any type of project, good for agile and kanban style of work, easy way to identify who is working on what within a project, lots of option to customize what to report , how to report and workflow for the project. Easy mechanism to transfer tickets to others and setup dependanceies

Pros

I did use Jira for many years, have implemented and managed small teams with it, and used on medium to large organizations.
Is my favorite tool for software development companies. There is a movement on the market for tools more simple,
but Jira is still a reference.
Excellent features.
Lots of customizations.
Combined with other Atlassin tools like confluence is a complete solution for the whole software development cycle.
Collaboration is easy and transparent.
You can really go from plan to execute to measure, and have the numbers match the reality of work.
Excellent report tools and query language.
Is a tool that do not stay on your way to work, but really improves it.
Very good agile practices, training is top notch.
The start offer for 10 users is almost free.
Lots of high quality plugins and extensions, there is a strong markeplace.

Cons

A little hard to maintain.
Price starts after 10 users, is not a cheap tool.
Plugins cost model can pilled up and become very expensive.

I work in small to medium-sized teams at work and in college and the handiness and ability to change scope of JIRA is simply Amazing. I feel that it's the perfect addition to any agile workflow!

Pros

It's modularity and sheer power; whether it be at work or at the college I studied yet, there's always a way to integrate JIRA into the pipeline. The sheer power and modularity of how it can get integrated into your planning workflow is amazing!

Cons

It can look a little daunting when you're only getting used to it. After some time, however, handling it becomes more natural, and the parts of it that look less intuitive than other alternatives become much easier to understand.

JIRA is very powerful and allows the entire Dev team to interact and work towards common goals, and tasks. It is full of great features to help with reporting, and management of your backlog. Super tool!

Pros

In terms of product backlog management I think it ticks all the boxes. You've literally got all the functionality you would need to manage a product backlog successfully. Estimating tickets, time-boxing, prioritising, are all great features (a long with many others) that I find very useful and helpful to my day-to-day work.

Cons

Due to the feature rich product the learning curve is a little steep, and it could take some getting used to. But this is the only negative I could think of because in general this is a great product.

Although the training process was difficult once all users were on the same level they all find it incredibly useful and can't imagine a world without it.

Cons

Rather hard and time consuming to train users to an adequate knowledge level.
The new design is also rather hard-to-use and we've been getting a lot of complaints from our users struggling to find their way around now.
Jira need to focus on fixing existing bugs before developing their design further.

However, what I particularly like about having a JIRA ticket is that whatever you have been told and documented in a ticket, it there are a written record so your boss cannot say I told you otherwise but by the same token you no longer have an excuse to say no one told you what to do when a JIRA ticket has been assigned to you...

Pros

In one way, we could escape from some task if we said we forgot. Not any more, JIRA tickets that you are assigned will hound you until you resolve them or do your part and pass the hot potato by assigning it to someone else. You boss who is always a watcher can also comment if he/she thinks you are wasting your time or should be working on something of higher priority (helps the boss who loves micromanaging). I particularly like the way you can use epics to pools similar tasks and then make sub-task to link them to other tasks etc.

Cons

It has made most of the places so efficient that before when I worked as an intern, my boss would brief me on what I had to do daily. Nowadays I get a steady list of tasks which I need to sometimes write back and forth before knowing exactly what to do - sometimes a good old fashioned face-to-face would be helpful - so maybe this is a flaw in management rather than the fault of the tool.
