Skype for Business Software


 

Skype for Business is a hybrid voice messaging solution that enables teams and individuals across the world to communicate and collaborate. It offers both cloud-based and on-premise solutions.

This solution allows users to interact via text messaging, audio and high-definition (HD) video communication. It supports collaboration through video conferencing that can support multiple people using phone or internet.With Skype for Business, online meetings can also be recorded for use later on. Since the solution is tightly integrated with Microsoft Office applications, it enables users to share files and make presentations on the call.

Users can view the online status of their contacts and schedule meetings with them through Microsoft Outlook. They can also start a conversation from other Microsoft applications, such as Word or PowerPoint.

Skype for Business facilitates texting and calling to mobile and landline phones. Other important features include support for third-party dial-in and the ability to remotely control others’ desktops.

Services are offered on a monthly subscription basis that includes support via email and an online knowledge base.

What happened to you, Skype? Do we really need an all-in-one solution for business? Maybe not. Skype has been a dream since it was born, full potential to grow and be the n.1 solution for online calls. But this is not how it is right now. Such a shame!

Pros

Allow contacts to skype users and phone numbers. Also good to connect simultaneously a huge group of people.

Cons

It is not a full VoID platform. It also never fully worked with hardware phones, since the project started well. A pitty to see how Skype losed his huge potential through the last 5 years.

Whenever we try using conferencing software options such as GoToMeeting, there are always issues for users. Skype for business is nice and simple and eliminates a lot of frustration. It manages chats and also allows for video conferencing and screen sharing. Working for a company where Subject Matter Experts work in various locations, meeting in person isn’t always an option. Setting up conferences and chats in Skype for business is extremely easy and reliable. We don’t need to use different programs to do one thing anymore.

Cons

Only con is that Skype for business only seems to work with internal organization contacts. We aren’t able to bring in outside participants into the video chat if they aren’t part of our organization.

Pros

I like that the product makes it so easy to communicate with both colleagues inside and outside of my company. It's much easier than email when you need a response immediately, and you can tell when your contacts are available. Being able to conduct meetings and share screens is just a bonus.

Cons

The software can sometimes be a little "glitchy". It works well most of the time though. Occasionally it has issues connecting, or it tells me that some of my contacts have been offline for 100+ days.

Skype for Business looks attractive and intuitive at first glance. It is more professional looking than the traditional skype package.

Cons

I have used this product on three different devices and on three different networks, and each time it has failed. I needed to record the screen, and it stated that it was actively recording, but no recording was saved. Additionally, the interface is incredibly difficult to navigate and find commonly used items such as a sharing link for invitees.

I like the Skype application since its inception, I like its evolution and its simplicity to make calls. I hope they keep improving.

Pros

Skype for Business is excellent for video calls in groups, I have participated in virtual meetings with approximately 70 people and the quality of audio and video is very good. The integration with the office package is for me, its main advantage.

Cons

Some collaborators of the company have indicated to us that the mobile application presents some errors and the same quality in the calls is not appreciated. Some users also had to delete the application because it slowed down their smartphones.

Overall, the app is really great as you can also edit how do you want your account to be shown with other users. And you can also edit your visibility status.

Pros

It is very easy to use. I have transferred into a company that uses Skype. At first, I am nervous because I have never used Skype before but once I have opened the application and went through the tutorial, I am now able to navigate the app well. The interface is user friendly and you can also cuatomize the themes according to your preference. The messaging, call, and video call function is great because it can be done with groups.

Cons

It will be better if you can select from different color pallets for the theme. Whenever I snip an image and paste it to the conversation, it automatically sends without asking for confirmation.

Cons

No real issues: as long as your connection is good, the quality is great. Occassionally getting someone's Skype ID is a hassle (versus IMing through email) but that's the only hiccup.

Great tool to keep in communication with your team and peers - particularily when you work in different plants. I really like the integration of the phone service so you don't have to look up numbers of your colleagues. For those on the go - this is a great tool.

Cons

When you share your screen for conference calls - the data you are sharing can get small for the users to see clearly. It would be nice to be able to eliminate all borders to show the data as large as possible.

There is a better flow of communication within my organization thanks to Skype for Business.

Pros

I particularly like the running in the background option for Skype for business. I don't have to open it every time to check for any new messages and the notification bar on Windows also shows any incoming messages.
The UI for Skype for Business is easy to use and the integration with Office is what really makes it one of the best in the business. While I'm working on a Word document, I can instantly chat with any other people working on the same document through Skype for Business. Its really an efficient time saving tool

Cons

Their pricing plans for international calling are not the best. Since we do overseas calls to clients around 20-30 times per week, we need a good service that enables us to call Landline and phone at a decent corporate pricing model.

I liked that Skype is just a very simple tool that does its function perfectly. I use this at work for conference calls and one on one calls with clients and other relevant people. It has all the features you would want (i.e. ability for multiple people to be on the call, good connectivity and picture quality, etc.). Overall all the features work good and allow for me to communicate with the people I am suppose to.

Cons

The one con about Skype is that sometimes those who I need to communicate/call don't have Skype themselves.

Skype for Business get's the job done and the cost is reasonable. I am hopeful the interface will continue to improve and become more visually appealing.

As a pastor, I've used it for pre-marital counseling. It's great for when the couple lives in a different city. I was still able to carry on sessions from long distance, even when they were both in different cities.

Pros

I like that it's easy to use. The fact that you can conference with more than one party is pretty great, too. As a pastor, I used it for pre-marital counseling. One couple in particular lived in 2 different cities, but we were all able to Skype together for counseling sessions.

Cons

Not much, honestly. It serves it's purpose pretty well. The contact search can be problematic if the person has a common name, but that's about it.

Skype is used for internal communication within my office. It has been very for virtual team meetings on weekends,when everyone is outside the office.

Pros

I like how easy and convenient Skype has been for me.I can send chat messages , share presentations ,files , make video and audio conference calls and even make international calls at unbeatable rates too.
Skype is economical with bandwidth consumption and there is an app. Available for every device I use - laptop, Apple iPad and Android smartphone ; it doesn’t even matter that these three device types run on different operating systems.

Cons

Software updates way too often and there is the tendency for Skype to sign me online whenever I switch off my pc,even after I signed out before my computer was last switched on.

I work from home, and need to stay in constant communication with my office team. This has been one of the best software's we have used to stay connected without disrupting our daily lives. It is easy to set up and use, and being able to save conversations is great.

Cons

Unfortunately, I have experienced frequent interruptions in service, where typed messages have lagged and they are all sent at once at a later time, while my internet connection was uninterrupted.

In my company we have had a nice experience when using Skype since we can communicate very easily with customers and with other branches.

Pros

I like to be able to create conferences for many people, it has the capacity besides integrace with office 365, for me the quality of the calls and the video are great.

Cons

It can be quite a heavy software for a computer with few resources, sometimes it stays frozen and I have to restart Skype, setting aside these details is still the communication application par excellence.
