Sharp Auction Engine is a cloud-based auction software that helps companies set up auction websites and conduct online auctions. It caters to small and midsize businesses. Primary features include catalog management, an auction calendar, bidder management, auction reports, credit-card payments and bid management.

Sharp Auction Engine allows users to create a personalized online bidding platform for their business. Users can customize the branding, address and database of the website. The calendar provides a list of past, current and upcoming events. The software provides credit-card processing through integrations with Stripe and Paypal. Users can live stream actions or display pre-recorded videos within the listings. 

Sharp Auction Engine is available with monthly and yearly subscription pricing. Support is offered via phone, email, FAQs, how-to articles and video tutorials. It offers a mobile app for iOS and Android devices.

Absolutely critical for our business

Our entire business is an online auction, so the Sharp Auction Engine is a huge part of us being successful. Their team is always helpful and willing to answer our numerous (and frequently really stupid) questions, and any time we have a problem they help us to figure out what went wrong and how to solve it. The software is also really really easy to use, and all of our employees, even the not very technology-using ones, can use it with a little bit of training.

Pros

Before we selected Sharp Auction Engine, we looked at probably 5 other software systems to use for our auction company. Sharp has the best price, value, ease of use, and the best customer service we've seen. It is really easy to upload an auction from excel, and their spreadsheet includes all the things your customers need to know. Once we learned how to number our pictures correctly, the bulk picture uploading was super easy. We really haven't encountered very many problems, and when we do the support team is very helpful and always answers our questions.

Cons

Probably the worst thing about this software is the process to get your pictures in the correct number form before you can upload them. If an auction has 75 lots with about 5 pictures per item, it typically takes about 45 minutes to renumber the pictures, and can take up to 2 hours to get them formatted correctly.

Fantastic experience - the customer service is exceptional!

Pros

Great auction site! I would highly recommend it. A live person almost always answers the phone and helps with whatever problem you are experiencing. I can't wait to use them again for next year's auction.

Cons

Twice during my auction Sharp's server went down. They worked hard to get it back up but it was stressful while it was down. Also, some of the people who wanted to bid found setting up an account to be confusing. Sharp was able to help everyone so we were able to get everyone registered and bidding.

Pros

This is only on-line auction engine I have ever used and have no other to use for comparison. But I have found no reason to try another auction engine.
Their support staff have been very helpful any time I've ever called or had a problem.....and I always get to talk to a live representative.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve that can be difficult or easy depending upon your technology experience.

Intuitive online auction software that can work for any auction firm no matter how big or small.

Pros

Our auction firm has been in business for over 60 years and we were pretty much married to the old fashioned way of doing business. The mere thought of going online was overwhelming. We called Sharp Auction Engine and asked if they would be willing to meet with us in person, and they did so the very same day! Their friendly staff gave us a live demo, in person, with very short notice. Just a month later, we conducted our first online/live auction and it was a big success. Sharp Auction Engine got us over a big hurdle and today we can offer online auctions to our customers with full confidence. We also find the customer support staff to be prompt and freindly, although after you get up and running you won't need to call them much if any.

Customer support is exceptional - very nice and incredibly responsive to inquiries and suggestions!

We can manage our own online auctions. We have complete control over content and costs to seller. This is a great company that treats their clients well.

Pros

It is easy to use and gives the auction house complete control over content of site and the auction itself (times, content, etc); it allows for changes to the items (descriptions, photos, and bidding increments) during the auction as well as before the auction goes live. We like being able to post as many pictures as we decide are needed for each item and that we can also post a video for each item.

I like the personal attention from the support staff. When we call with issues, the staff treats us like we are their best client and work diligently and quickly to resolve our issues.

Cons

The only issue we have had has been with the dynamic bidding ending where it won't extend the bidding if the next bid is under the minimum bid increments. We have, however, made this suggestion and hope to see changes with the next update.

The customer support for SAE is amazing! I love that the software is simple and sophisticated.

I received the student discount.

Pros

I love that the price for the software is a flat monthly fee, with no extra added commission. That was a huge selling point for me. I love that this is an independent service and software, and that I was not in a contract.

Cons

From my bidders, I received feedback that the workflow of the website seemed to be somewhat confusing, especially when you click on a picture and have to "return to catalogue" to go on to the next item. Also, when I invoiced the items, the invoice printed that it added "15% buyers premium" but the math worked out to be 20% buyers premium.

Simple to use, great staff

Online showcasing of my real estate properties, with nice support staff to help out.

Pros

Been using my SAE site for almost a year now for real estate listings and so far I'm loving it! The support staff is great and personable, and I can see real changes on my site after speaking with them and giving them my suggestions. They worked with me to create and upload 360 degree pictures of listings which we embedded directly into the site to really showcase the properties.

I liked that the platform had everything I needed to get started right away. I use it as my own website for my business now. It's all very intuitive and easy to get the hang of, and the support staff is always very helpful when I do have questions.

I started out with a flat monthly rate with no contract. Most other options I found required some kind of long-term commitment, but with SAE I felt like I wasn't taking a risk. I eventually switched voluntarily to a contract for the discounted rate. The price is extremely fair, and the staff really makes me feel like I am a priority.

Disappointed

During a live auction with several bidders bidding, the auction ended early and declared a winner. I was in shock, could not believe what just happened. I lost out on approx $13,000 and couldn't sleep that night I was so upset. I called the next morning and spoke to both owners, who said they would look into it and get back to me. Three weeks later I called back and cancelled my account because no one got back to me, and I didn't trust the software. There were some glitches a few weeks/days prior to the live auction. Tech support assured me that the glitches I mentioned were fixed and extensive testing was done, and that there would be no issues with my live auction. I wish that were true. I still can't believe what happened that night, and the owners not getting back to me. If one of my clients called me and said that my product failed which costed them some money, I would do everything I could to try and make them happy.

Great Support

I can't say enough for the Staff at Sharp. Jamie and everyone has been so helpful in helping me get my online platform up and running. I still have a few kinks, every now and then, but a quick email to Jamie gets all my questions answered.
