About ACID Pro

ACID Pro is an on-premise solution that provides businesses with tools to compose and edit various audio samples to streamline music production processes. Using the Chopper tool, professionals can re-order and remix tracks to create new customized samples of original audio files.

ACID Pro comes with a Beatmapper tool, which allows organizations to determine the time signatures and tempos of external audio files. Music producers can utilize controller data to edit various parameters including pitch, modulation, expression, velocities, note positions and more. Additionally, the ACID Morph Pads help users apply various analogue audio effects to individual tracks.

ACID Pro enables businesses to perform multitrack audio records and organize audio files into custom folders using the drag-and-drop interface. Pricing is available on a one-time license basis and support is extended via documentation and other online measures.

The Original Looping Editor

4

I used ACID Pro a lot to quickly sketch ideas, and working with loops can speed up inspiration when I'm in a time crunch for client work. I outgrew it and moved on to Cubase and Pro Tools, but I often miss the ease of playing with loops in this application.

Pros:
ACID was the first loop-based digital audio workstation (DAW) to hit the market back in the 90s. It was so popular that loop libraries were expected to be released in the "ACID-ized" format. And it was popular for a reason: you could open ACID and get working right away. A very straightforward interface helps facilitate easy songwriting and mixing, and loops simply work in ACID, unlike older products like Pro Tools. It's regularly on sale for less than $100, so it's worth a look for people who do mostly loop-based production and find Ableton Live intimidating.
Cons:
ACID can feel a little limited, especially if you want to do more complex MIDI/softsynth composing.

Reasons for choosing ACID Pro

Ease of use and price.

Reasons for switching to ACID Pro

Reason did not have audio support at the time.

Pros:
i grew up on ACID, and have been with it through its changes of ownership, years of neglect, and resurgance. previously it was one of the most powerful DAW and audio manipulation platforms in existance, it was doing things protools and cubase could only dream of with regards to timestretching and mapping, and ableton live would not exist without ACIDs innovations. it went throug some rough years but no longer has much of the downsides it used to.
Cons:
it fell behind durring the years it was bought and sold multiple times, and as a result it has had to play catch-up in the last several years. i do however encounter the occasional bug, and the last few versions havent done much but bundle in VST's that i dont really want.

Reasons for switching to ACID Pro

the other DAWS i have used lacked features, had clunky UI's, didnt play well with my hardware, or were not condusive to a creative workflow.

Pros:
The familiarity of the workflow is the best. Chopping audio files and mixing them down is probably the best way to use this. Third party VSTs are limited to 10. Recording can lag if your input isn't strong, overall it's a 3/5.
Cons:
Very basic. Can't really manipulate audio like Ableton or FL Studio.

Excellent DAW for Beginners and Intermediate

5

I started using Acid Music back in the 90s as a looper, when it was produced by Sonic Foundry, and was astonished to discover that it was a full-blown multi-track recording interface. Once I learned enough about the technicalities of recording, Acid enabled me to put my newfound knowledge of recording, gain-staging, and mixing into practice.

Pros:
This is hands-down the easiest DAW to use that - easy to understand menus and drop-downs, as well as obvious toolbars. Almost all features are easily accessed and intuitive to use. it's not overly cluttered with specialized functions that the average musician will never use.
Cons:
I feel like trying to use virtual instruments with this interface is a little more challenging than it is with certain other DAWs that I own.

Reasons for choosing ACID Pro

The price point on Acid is unbeatable. It's sheer ease of use is also unbeatable. It will take a year or two of intense dedication to outgrow Acid Pro.

Familiar & Similar layout/UI with most Magix Video editing softwares

Acid Pro feels so much home to me as I do a lot of video editing with Magix Video Pro X. The UI and layouts similarity works for me.

Pros:
Every time I use Acid Pro for audio creating and sometimes editing, I get the feeling as if I am using the Magix Video editing softwares such as Video Pro X or Movie Studio only with more audio editing capabilities and functionalities. The UI and the general layout is very similar. For example, the Explorer tab for quickly accessing the media files for the project in the computer has almost similar layout with Video Pro X. The noticeable difference is that for Acid Pro it is located at the bottom left while for the Video Pro X at the top right. This and other similarities such as we have for the timelines have made my workflow easy in terms of navigating around the software. I know where to get what I need at a glance. Additionally, It is a very capable DAW loaded with lots of loops (Acidized loops) for any genre. It is my to go place when I need some background loops for my videos. Perfectly suited for my workflow!
Cons:
Unfortunately, the stability of this software has been the greatest setback. I started with Acid Pro 10 and now with 11 and still not stable. It does not matter how many times I reinstall and mostly just keep away from some of its features, It still crashes and sometimes to finish a project in Acid Pro is Magic(X).

Pros:
I have used Acid Pro to create looped audios for my short training videos for many years. It still the easiest DAW to use and affords quality output. The 64 bit version offers more stability to what would be a crash prone software.
Cons:
The price is quite out of the range of competing DAWs in the market unless you are lucky to get the discount priced offers.

Pros:
One of the things I appreciate most about it is its ease of use. It's a great tool for quickly and easily putting together complex tracks, especially for creating loop-based music. Acid Pro also supports a wide range of file formats, making it easy to import and export audio files.
Cons:
The UI is slightly outdated, and there are a few crashes now and then, but nothing to consider a deal breaker. On the upside, the developers are actively updating the software, so I am sure these issues will be ironed out over time.

Acid Pro's reliability is its Achilles heel

Acid Pro was great for prototyping tracks and getting quick compositions out. It had a comprehensive set of decent included effects and instruments but was ultimately let down by instability.

Pros:
Acid Pro has always had a great workflow and reasonable included effects and instruments. It pioneered loop manipulation and coined the term acidisation for including tempo information with loops so that they can be easily manipulated and included in tracks of different tempos.
Cons:
The constant crashing and program hangs that occur on an all too frequent basis. Even after expecting a hang and constantly saving, the time lost and more importantly losing the flow while trying to be creative were the app killer for me.
