Pros/Cons
  • Pros

  • Because of its popularity, I'm happy to stick with it as when a problem arises, there will be a YouTube video describing how to solve it and that's important.
  • I love that it's easy to use. The best part for me is that you can download additional features and Plug-ins or even create your own if you know some coding.
  • I like to record podcasts, radio dramas, etc. and was recommended this program as a free, good program for that purpose. It's an excellent deal for the money ($0).
  • Cons

  • Audacity suffers from one of the ugliest graphical user interfaces out there. Contrast is poor, the blue-on-grey aesthetic is exhausting, and the icons are straight out of a clipart site from 1998.
  • For instance, after the audio recording has stopped one would logically export it to a folder where it would be saved. But you have to press stop, even if the recording has stopped.
  • Learning curve is slow and frustrating, specially if you want to work with different tracks.

  • Pros

  • I love the amount of creative freedom Logic gives me especially after all the updates that have happened over the years.
  • I love that the software is both incredibly accessible and extremely powerful. Students who have dabbled with GarageBand before can pick up Logic very quickly.
  • I like the general layout and integration with MainStage, and ease of use with 3rd party VSTs. Logic is affordable and is a great 1st DAW to learn on, and is many people’s DAW of choice.
  • Cons

  • The only downsides I have encountered are a few software glitches, including a problem when exporting audio.
  • However as a professional audio engineer who uses Pro Tools quite a bit for mixing and editing, this is one of the weaknesses of Logic.
  • There is no windows version and you can't work with the plugin you I bought them before for other software you need the Mac version to work.
