Pros/Cons
Pros
- Because of its popularity, I'm happy to stick with it as when a problem arises, there will be a YouTube video describing how to solve it and that's important.
- I love that it's easy to use. The best part for me is that you can download additional features and Plug-ins or even create your own if you know some coding.
- I like to record podcasts, radio dramas, etc. and was recommended this program as a free, good program for that purpose. It's an excellent deal for the money ($0).
Cons
- Audacity suffers from one of the ugliest graphical user interfaces out there. Contrast is poor, the blue-on-grey aesthetic is exhausting, and the icons are straight out of a clipart site from 1998.
- For instance, after the audio recording has stopped one would logically export it to a folder where it would be saved. But you have to press stop, even if the recording has stopped.
- Learning curve is slow and frustrating, specially if you want to work with different tracks.
Pros
- But if I need to do a complex edit, like the one I did for my award-winning short film, I go to Vegas Pro. It's reliable, stable, feature-rich and affordable.
- Amazing artistic styles and help from artificial intelligence to accelerate the creative process of video and sound editing.
- The Vegas Pro is brilliant and professional and is a great tool for my business work.
Cons
- Every year it causes enormous frustration and outrage due to having scheduled failures.
- Mov files are obsolete and always related to Quicktime which they are doing away with. It is my understanding that.
- Some advanced manipulations are difficult, and in regard to free transitions and such, options are slightly limited. I can't say much else is a dislike.
