## Blender Pros and Cons

We analyzed 951 verified reviews for Blender to find out what actual users really think.

Select to learn more

Versatile 3D Creation Toolkit

Blender offers a comprehensive set of tools for 3D modeling, sculpting, texturing, animation, and rendering. Users appreciate its flexibility for creating detailed models, prototypes, and animations, as well as its active community and support for add-ons. The software is suitable for both hobbyists and professionals, providing creative possibilities without high costs.

Free And Open Source Access

Blender is completely free and open source, making it accessible to students, freelancers, and companies with limited budgets. Users value the lack of licensing fees, the ability to use powerful features without cost, and the availability of free add-ons. Its zero price point removes barriers for those entering 3D design and animation.

Robust Animation Capabilities

Blender provides a wide range of animation tools, including character rigging, object and particle animation, and keyframing. Users find it practical for creating smooth, realistic movements and appreciate its compatibility with motion capture and export options. The software supports both beginners and professionals in producing high-quality animated content.

Steep Learning For Beginners

Blender's complexity and extensive feature set result in a steep learning curve, especially for those new to 3D software. Many users find the interface overwhelming and unintuitive at first, requiring significant time and external resources to master basic and advanced functions.

Slow And Resource-Heavy Rendering

Rendering in Blender can be slow and demanding on computer resources, particularly with complex scenes or high-poly models. Users report long wait times, laggy viewport performance, and output quality that may not match specialized rendering software, especially on lower-end hardware.

Complex And Cluttered Interface

Navigating Blender can be challenging due to its cluttered menus, abundance of tools, and non-intuitive layout. Beginners often struggle to locate functions and manage materials, while experienced users note that customization options can make the interface confusing and difficult to reset.

Pros:

The most important thing is that it is completely free, compared to the other main 3d softwares. The Ui is user friendly. Beginners can use it almost immediately. There is a big blender community, which is good for people that are trying to learn it, looking for help. There is thousands of tutorials on youtube for it. You can do with blender anything you can do on the other softwares.

Cons:

For the most part, my experience with blender is great but The simulation's system can be improved more, and the texturing and uv tools could be much better.

Functionality

Pros:

Blender is an open source 3d and animation software so we can participate in developing its features in it. And most importantly it's free.

Cons:

We have to learn on our own to determine the right settings in adjustment to the hardware we have.

Reasons for switching to Blender

Initially, I used SketchUp to make interior and building designs, but for hyper-realistic rendering, we have to pay for separate software which is quite expensive. But Blender has it all in one bundle, and all of it is open source or free with very satisfying quality.

Pros:

You have a Full pack in one software from texturing and modelling to sculpting and post-production, everything is integrated in it plus you can have the full app in a USB where ever you go ! Have been using it for more than 6 years and today it is more powerful and modern, they even added a unique 2D in a 3D environment feature that is unique to blender.

Cons:

This is a hard one I don't think there is something I don't like about it other than it is a bit hard to learn but it is hard to learn any type of 3D generally. and the app can crash from time to time but same could be said to any 3D Software.

Reasons for choosing Blender

Because I didn't know better at the time, and I was just trying to discover 3D and the paywall was a Turn-off.

Reasons for switching to Blender

UI UX wise and the resources plus the fact that Blender is free
