Real-Time Labor Guide is a cloud-based auto repair platform that helps small to large size automotive businesses manage customer charges, technician tracking and staff.

Real-Time Labor Guide enables users to manage complete store operations with labor guide, packaging jobs, miscellaneous charges, unlimited tickets, QuickVIN decoding, advanced reporting and more. Additionally, it allows staff management, customer history, shop reports, technician tracking, parts markup, inventory and accounts receivable. The repair guide tool feature in the platform allows tracking vehicles’ condition, mechanic experience, availability of tools and testing time that can be used to provide quotes, manage customers, access jobs and estimates.

Real-Time Labor Guide allows users to create custom tickets, estimates and invoices. The platform is available on a per month subscription pricing and support is extended via phone and email.

Was great, now it's terrible!!

I LIKED the reports and the fact it was easy to use and WAS very user friendly, the new "upgrade" makes it take longer to create tickets, find previous customers, find previous tickets, etc. Overall the new system has convinced me to begin a new search for a reasonably priced mechanical software system, very frustrating as I was EXTREMELY pleased with it until the "upgrade". All my guys that use it have asked me if we can switch back, I have contacted Real-Time but have yet to receive a response. If we can't, I will be switching software again, and that is very frustrating.

Pros

It WAS extremely user friendly and easy to learn and use, now they have released an update and forced all users to use the "upgraded" version, which is actually a HUGE downgrade from a user-friendly perspective. It is cheap, that is the only current Pro I can think of for the current system. If they would let us revert back to the previous version, I would give it a 5 star in all categories.

Cons

Not user-friendly any more, complicated to navigate, requires extra steps to perform tasks that used to be simple. The new upgrade they introduced is a massive downgrade from the original program, I will be looking for a new system.

Ron - It's never easy to hear a potential let down from a customer but I do appreciate your honest feedback. We went to great lengths to make sure the ticket process is exactly the same with the same number of steps and clicks - the only thing that changed was the look and feel and the search. I'm hoping you'll give us a chance over the next couple days because for the customers who have been using it for the last couple months in beta - they swear they would never go back. Nobody likes change and we wouldn't have made this serious investment unless it was absolutely necessary. Specifically - our previous version was released 6 years ago and performance/security technology has made huge advancements that we needed to include in our system. The new site is now more secure, will allow for future expansion in features and all the new tickets you all are making, and more mobile friendly. Thanks for being our customer all these years and I hope you'll give the new site a chance.

Are you kidding me ? Haters are just going to be Haters

What do you expect for $10.00 a month .... The program does what they claim it to do quite well. Sure some of the labor times are wrong just like every other labor "GUIDE" out there. At least they are attempting to create a "Real Time" program to be fair to the techs and customers. If you have a problem with the labor time let them know. I think with enough constructive criticism and truthful testimonies from real techs. The labor times will be changed accordingly until the times are correct. They also give you 3 labor options to choose from which the low one is close to Mitchell on several vehicles I have compared. We all do not have access to factory tools, equipment and data therefore the labor guide should reflect that as well, Hence a little more labor time. Getting the job done right or getting the job done in the allotted time of what a guide says are usually two different times anyhow. These are guides not mandatory labor times, should be used and modified as needed. Rust - Corrosion - Owner Repair - Oil/Grease Soaked Engine - Electrical Parts that have been upgraded with a new harness or pig tails.... Etc. Labor should be fair but not a race to meet the book time. Times are changing and labor guides should as well.

Pros

Affordable, Easy and quick to get an estimate now with invoicing options .
A good second opinion for $10.00 a month if you have a system.
Do not have to be at the shop computer to get an estimate for a repair. You can use your cell phone if needed.

Cons

Still working to get real time labor correct on all makes and models. Which would seem to be a ongoing process for the life of the program.

I'VE READ SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS OF OTHER SHOPS. THEY WANT EVERY SINGLE ESTIMATE TO BE PERFECT. NONE OF THESE PROGRAMS ARE PERFECT. OVER THE YEARS I'VED USE REAL-TIME AS A BACK UP TO EITHER MITCHELL & OR ALLDATA. REAL TIME HAS SAVED ME FROM LOOSING A TON OF MONEY $$$$$$ IF I HAD WENT STRICKLY WITH THE "BIG BOYS PRICING" I'D BE IN THE "POOR HOUSE" NOW. THIS ESTIAMTING GUIDE IS A MUST HAVE. AND YOU GUYS THAT WANT MORE FROM THE PROGRAM, THEY HAVE AN ADVANCED PROGRAM TOO.

KEEP A FINANCIAL ACCOUNT OF HOW MUCH YOU RAISED THE PRICE WHEN YOU DOUBLE CHECKED REAL TIME & I BET YOU BE LOOKING AT A MINIMUM $ A MONTH IN ADDITIONAL INCOME.

John - Thank you for the great review! We work hard to make our services as easy to use as possible, and our support techs are very passionate about helping our customers. To separate parts and labor on the ticket, go to Settings -> Ticket -> Ticket Defaults and change the setting "Separate Labor, parts, & misc charges" from no to yes. This should make it easier for your customers to know which is which. There are actually several more options in settings that can help you customize the ticket format and make it exactly what you and your customers are looking for. A great labor guide

Overall, Real-Time Labor Guide has helped us stay on track with labor times for the jobs we do. This has saved us a lot of heartache over the years. They are also very helpful when it comes to support and making changes if we find there' s an error in their guide.

Pros

I like that it shows low, average and high labor times to use as a guideline. Some labor times will have notes about a certain job where traditional labor times are way too low or an additional labor service has be done in order to complete the job.

Cons

It's a little hard to find some jobs. The program version that we use is ok most of the time but rare labor operations are hard to find.

Easy to navigate

Pros

Easy to navigate. Very functional, its great that I can add parts and specific labor to our shop and store for quick reference.

Cons

Customer Service has not been the easiest to get ahold of the few times I've needed too.

It been a few years but...

Customers always loved having detailef estimate

Great fast product. Used daily for years. Customer service was outstanding. Maybe had 1 or 2 access issues, resolved immediately.

Cons

Occasionally, but really rare labor listed to low. When there was a error, the number was obvious. Just double checked on Napa

saves me money and time. I have had no issues to complain and see nothing but good ,, I see no reason to buy into a more expensive product

customer service & incorrect Labor Time

labor times most of the time is wrong make sure you you have different source you can't trust the info which is they getting pay monthly! 30% of time they are wrong

we have to call them at least a couple times a month to correct the time labor times incomplete and they supposed to give you credit to correct them. good luck they ignore you

How much trust can you put in an anonymous review? We serve thousands of customers and provide hundreds of thousands of labor times. No labor guide is 100% correct, which is why we are called "guides". But we are always here to take your call, look at the job with you and give you the information you need to complete the job. Most customers appreciate that and tell us it's impossible to get that kind of service from the other guys. They also appreciate how much money we make them by providing correct times when the other guys are off. This is why the smart technician has more than one source. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but again, how much can you trust a reviewer who blasts you anonymously?

Horrible times

I mostly started using it to print estimates and invoices but it does not save them, so you cannot make a diag estimate and come back and add the fix to print your invoice, you have to start all over, including customer information. Second, the flat rate times are horribly innacurate. I just started my own mobile repair business and wanted to get a feel for the market before getting alldata and dedicating myself to that kind of monthly bill. The innaccurate times of this program easily cost me 10 hours per week, and I have a very leisurely schedule. I would only recomend this program for a highschool/college kid working on his friends cars a few times a month at most. It was worth the $10 to get a better feel for how to be my own service advisor but this is the easy-bake-oven of labor tools. If you run any sort of business. Skip it. I guess on the plus side my low invoices have made some extremely happy first customers.

You are right that the Real-Time Labor Guide does not save estimates or invoices. It was not meant to be a shop management system - we have other software available that will retain all your customer and ticket history, save inventory, build reports to help run your business, etc. Regarding the labor times - we get our labor times from mechanics like you actually doing the jobs in the field. Most customers report that our labor times reflect what it actually takes them to do the job, not what the manufacturer thinks it should take. You need this for your repair shop

I started using the labor guide as a 2nd opinion - for 10 bucks it was hard to pass up, and I didn't have to sign a contract so I could cancel if it didn't work out. I am so happy I did - this guide have made us so much money. I always found that it took me 15 - 20 min more to do a job than the other guys tell me it should take. But Real Time seems like they tell you what it will actually take to do the job, instead of what the other guys think it should take. And if there is a big difference between the two, I call them and they help me out. It seems about 50/50 in the rare times I have to call - half the time they admit they are off, half the time its the other guys. Even if they are off, they say they will fix it. Try getting the other guys t do that. The program is really easy to use, and the customer service folks are great, and I pay for this program several times over with their labor times. I am looking forward to their update where I can save my tickets and bring them back up later.

Not A Good Program

The labor times on this program are very inaccurate. When you have a 2010 Dodge 3500 2x2 the labor shows 9.70 hrs. that's higher than a 4x4 that only calls for 7hrs. We would not recommend real time labor guide. We contacted real time labor guide customer service & they were very rude. They said they would find out what the problem was, but they would not contact us & let us know what the problem was. He said that was their policy. This was not the only labor time problem that we've had. Five years ago it cost me a customer complaint. I was assured 5 years ago that this problem would be taken care of with new updates, looks like they still have problems.
