## BrowserStack Pros and Cons

We analyzed 776 verified reviews for BrowserStack to find out what actual users really think.

Select to learn more

Broad Compatibility Assurance

BrowserStack lets you test websites and apps across a wide range of real devices, browsers, and operating systems. This helps teams catch compatibility issues early, reduce bugs, and ensure smooth user experiences without needing to maintain physical device labs.

Real Device Testing Flexibility

You can test web and mobile apps on actual Android and iOS devices, both new and old, without owning the hardware. This makes it easier to debug, verify user experience, and run manual or automated tests, saving time and resources for QA and development teams.

Extensive Device Access Options

BrowserStack provides quick access to a vast selection of real devices and emulators, including older models and multiple OS versions. Switching between devices is easy, helping teams replicate issues and check compatibility without buying physical devices.

Occasional Lag And Slowdowns

Users report slow performance, laggy device interactions, and long loading times, especially during peak hours or with older devices. These speed issues can disrupt testing workflows and make the platform feel cumbersome for time-sensitive tasks.

High Cost For Teams

BrowserStack's pricing is often seen as expensive, especially for small businesses, startups, or individual users. The recurring fees and lack of flexible plans make it harder for organizations with limited budgets to afford broad access for their teams.

### Reliable Cross-Platform Testing with Some Cost Considerations

- Overall rating: 4/5
- Reviewer: Azmal g.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Education Management
- Company size: 2-10 employees
- Product usage: Used monthly for less than 2 years
- Reviewed: April 2026
- Review source details: This reviewer was invited by the software vendor to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you.

My overall experience with BrowserStack has been very positive. It provides a reliable and efficient platform for testing applications across a wide range of real devices and browsers without the need to maintain physical infrastructure. The ability to perform live, manual testing on real iOS and Android devices is a major advantage, helping to identify real-world issues that are often missed in emulators. The platform is easy to use, quick to set up, and integrates well into existing testing workflows. However, there are some limitations, such as pricing, session limits, and occasional latency, which can impact productivity during heavy usage. Overall, it is a powerful and practical solution for cross-platform testing, especially for teams that need quick access to multiple devices, but it may require careful cost management depending on usage.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The biggest advantage of BrowserStack is its instant access to a wide range of real devices without needing to maintain physical hardware. The ability to perform live, manual testing on both iOS and Android devices directly from the browser is extremely convenient and saves a lot of setup time. I also found the platform very useful for: Quick debugging with real-time interaction Consistent performance across devices and OS versions Ease of use — no complex installation or configuration required Reliable cloud infrastructure, which makes testing smooth even for remote teams Overall, it significantly improves testing efficiency and helps identify real-world issues that emulators often miss.

#### Cons

The main drawback is the cost, especially for small teams or when you need extended access to real devices for manual testing. I also faced a few practical limitations: Session time limits and concurrency restrictions can slow down testing when multiple testers are involved Occasional lag or latency, particularly when network conditions aren’t ideal Limited free access, making it harder to evaluate thoroughly before committing Device availability issues at peak times (some popular devices are not always instantly accessible)

### Easier to use simulators/emulators

- Overall rating: 1/5

- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Consumer Goods
- Company size: 501-1000 employees
- Product usage: Used daily for less than 2 years

It was a large part of my job just tracking failures on browserstack devices, hounding their support to fix things, and triaging flaky test failures that stemmed from excessively variable device states. It is not worth it to use this provider for automated testing for this reason alone. Use simulators and emulators. They are sufficient for catching 99.99% of issues.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

It had a decent availability of Android and iOS mobile devices and OS versions, including new OS versions. That's about it.

#### Cons

Issue resolution, support, lots of downtime and issues that would cause test failures - all resulting in really poor usage as an automated testing device provider

My overall experience with BrowserStack has been positive. It provides a reliable platform for cross-browser and real device testing, making it easier to identify and fix issues across different environments. The interface is user-friendly, and it helps speed up testing cycles significantly. While there are occasional performance lags and the pricing can be a concern, the overall value it delivers in terms of efficiency and test coverage makes it a strong tool for QA teams

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

its extensive real device and browser coverage, which makes cross-browser testing seamless and reliable. The ease of use and quick setup allow teams to start testing without heavy configuration. It significantly speeds up testing cycles and helps identify issues early, improving overall product quality

#### Cons

its pricing, which can be quite high for smaller teams. Additionally, automation setup and debugging can be a bit complex, and session timeouts or flaky connections sometimes impact the overall testing experience.

#### Reasons for switching to BrowserStack

test execution—especially on real devices—can sometimes be slow. Setting up and maintaining automation requires effort, and debugging failures isn’t always straightforward due to limited log clarity. Additionally, occasional session instability and flaky tests can affect test reliability and overall efficiency.

- Review source details: This reviewer was invited by the software vendor to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you.

Overall, my experience has been positive so far. I’m still getting familiar with the application, but the learning curve has been manageable. It would be beneficial to have more integrations with other tools and platforms, as this would further enhance usability and workflow efficiency.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The UI of BrowserStack is clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate. Most of the frequently used features—like device selection, browser choices, and test session controls—are clearly visible and well‑organized. The overall usability is smooth, and switching back and forth between devices or test sessions feels seamless. The platform offers straightforward access to essential tools such as logs, screenshots, and videos, making debugging much faster. Overall, the interface supports a very user‑friendly testing experience with minimal learning curve.

#### Cons

The response I received from [sensitive content hidden] came across as quite rude. It gave me the impression that BrowserStack may not be fully prepared to assist customers who have doubts or questions. If new customers are addressed in this manner, it raises concerns about the level of support provided to existing customers as well.

#### Reasons for switching to BrowserStack

Management decision. This was not decided by me or my team, rather this request came from management.

I really like that when a failure happens, we're able to see a playback video of everything that happened up to the point of the failure. That kind of visual context makes us confident of the reproduction steps.

#### Cons

We have had some issues with billing. There have been automated messages that we receive which sound like we are going to have our services cutoff despite our payment being in transit. I wish that paying would be more straight forward so that we wouldn't feel like we are panicking everytime we want to renew.

#### Reasons for choosing BrowserStack

Lambdatest did not guarantee that a job would start the moment we launched it. We were left stuck in a 'waiting queue'.
