ImportOMatic is a data integration solution for Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge and Raiser's Edge NXT fundraising solutions. It is deployed as a plug-in for the Raiser’s Edge platform.

ImportOMatic allows users to filter and transform data from a variety of sources before exporting it to Raiser’s Edge. Supported third-party applications include MailChimp, Classy, DonorDrive, Luminate Online, Artez and more.

Additionally, ImportOMatic offers features such as duplicate record management, engagement scoring, imports scheduling, an open technology framework and a data mapping grid.

Services are offered for a one-time fee that includes support over the phone, via email, a community forum and an online helpdesk.

    Great to use, and great customer service.

    We no longer have to hand key our information into our database.

    Pros

    This software can do so much for your data. Gone are the days where everything needs to be hand-keyed. Once a profile is created you can copy and adjust as necessary. The training offered is great and the customer service is exceptional.

    Cons

    For some of us it was difficult to use at first. It can do so much, that some of our staff missed a few steps in the beginning.

    The software makes possible to accomplish task that without it would become so much time consuming. It makes our life easier.

    Cons

    When working from a remote location, it takes up to double the time to complete a task if using Importomatic.

    It's very useful software, however local support in Australia can be lacking

    We are able to setup imports to RE without having to do too much work on the incoming files

    Pros

    It adds a lot of great functionality that isn't in RE but should be. It's also probably quite a bit easier to use than the Blackbaud Import, however we're well trained in that so we still use it at times

    Cons

    Mainly the lack of Australian support, and that I always feel like we aren't taking full advantage of it

    Streamline out daily import/updates

    Pros

    Reliable, bug-free product. Adding/configuring multiple data points/record types makes this a much better solution than the standard Import function of RE.

    Cons

    Error messages are non-user-friendly, not easily diagnosed. There is a current bug in 3.5.1.2 that no longer renames the import file after the import is complete. We've had to change our processes until this bug is fixed.

    Pros

    I love that I don't have to create ImpID's for every field. I love that it imports so quickly. I love the ease of it.

    Cons

    Unable to update. Exceptions report has changed since we started using Connector and now I don't receive why something has exception'd out (list the id that it doesn't see, or if it exception'd out because someone has the record open). During a simply import like adding only an appeal code to an existing record it exceptions out and then wants to add as a full constituent.

    Efficient, more detailed and feature-packed than RE's Import function. Definitely prefer IOM.

    Faster, easier, more efficient processes of getting new/updated data into the RE database. Any future plans for NXT functionality?

    Pros

    The fact table categories do not need to be specified in the import file. As opposed to RE's Import, a separate column for the table category is required. And I also really enjoy the side-by-side comparison of new and existing data in the database.

    Cons

    Don't think I've seen an import function for events in RE. Having this would be ideal for event imports for constituents and non-constituents.

    The profile creation is pretty much seamless. I prefer using ImportOmatci versus the classic RE import option.

    Cons

    I wish support had a chat option- creating a ticket is often not the option best suited for my needs at times.

    The greatest benefits of this software have been the ease an accuracy of getting new and updated information into our database.

    Pros

    It truly works as it says it does. Information goes into our database with ease and accuracy. The importing process is seamless once the profile is set up.

    Cons

    It wasn't as seamless of a process to get everything going once we were in the hosted environment. This may not be as much of an issue now, but some consideration for staying in constant contact with all parties involved to ensure all parts are connected and running properly by promised date.

    The ease and effectiveness of getting a large amount of data into Raiser's Edge. No need to clean the data prior to the import

    Cons

    No clear explanation of errors when import doesn't go as expected. Pretty complicated way to set up an import profile.

    Importing process is much easier. No previous clean up and creating records before import process. I use it for both importing Luminate Gifts - and csv spreadsheets.

    Cons

    Hard to get on the phone with support staff. So if you are in a middle of importing - you have to wait to hear back from the support staff. Instant support whether chat/phone will be great addition.

    ImportOmatic has saved us time on large new constituent and gift entry tasks.

    Our team has been able to use this software to reduce the amount of person hours needed for several recurring large tasks monthly and through out the year.

    Pros

    Using ImportOmatic has allowed us to reduce the number of staffers needed and time taken on our large new constituent loads. It has also allowed us to integrate some third party info into our gift batch processes.

    Cons

    Some of the phone and address options are not compatible with our current data handling methods, but that is not necessarily a critique of those options. We've also experienced the need to change the same linking across multiple individual, but related, profiles when there were changes in methods within the source of the data.

    Departmental respect for willing to overcome a learning curve in order to better serve our data needs.

    Pros

    The ability to use csv data files for gift and constituent import into RE is a huge time-saver in the long run. Over the last decade, our data entry projects have grown exponentially and this tool is exactly what we needed.

    Cons

    The learning curve is difficult, but with patience and practice it gets better. I do not specialize in API nor coding, but with the support team I am able to comprehend IOM and use their tools. Once data is imported we use integrity reports to help fine tune our data to our internal standards.

    basic and simple, straight forward. Integration with Google is as we hoped. We hope to continue using this product as it evolves

    renewing the license causes some hickups. As features are added, we needed to change our licenses which caused some issues.

    Once you do get started,it integrates real well with Raisers Edge. A lot of fields you can import. Import time reasonably fast. I like the function that you can pull up the RE record right on the same screen.
    Reasonably priced.

    Cons

    A long learning curve. Explanations and instructions not too clear for a new user. Would like some hard copies of the training for training purposes. They updated our version without letting us know what fields had been changed, confusing!

    The software is easy to use. The profiles take a bit of time to set-up in the beginning, but once you have them set-up importing data is simple and efficient.

    Cons

    My least favorite aspect of purchasing this software was the customer service. In the initial purchasing stage, I experienced terrible customer service with trying to get the contract implemented and scheduling introductory conference calls. Not sure how a company that supports so many customers is lacking in the customer service area.

    Being able to get days of work done in a few hours. Now that I have this tool, my workload has been quite a bit better and less stressful. I appreciate that tremendously.

    Cons

    Not as intuitive as I would like - I have to manipulate my data quite a bit. I believe we could have used a full fledged, in person type of training. I'm unsure if the company's contract doesn't cover that and perhaps that is why we were lost for the first few months of using it. Once we went through things with one of your reps, she was so patient with us and walked us through it until the bulb went off in our brains! I wish I could remember her name because she is awesome!
