About Microsoft SQL Server

Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence (BI) Edition is a database management and BI software solution designed for companies of all sizes. The system offers relational database management, which allows users to access enterprise data using structured query language. The solution allows users to perform complex analysis on the database. The product also features a BI Semantic model that allows users to extract and analyze data from heterogeneous sources.

Microsoft SQL Server features "in-memory analytics," which allows users to perform queries and analytics while the data is in the RAM, thereby improving the speed of access. The software has scalable and corporate reporting features that help management to make decisions that are more informed. Organizations can improve the data quality by using the organizational knowledge and third-party reference data providers to profile, clean and match the data.

The IT department can manage data through a BI Semantic Model, which provides a consistent view across multiple data sources.

The integration with other Microsoft tools (like Power BI and Azure) is also a big plus.
          Cons:
The pricing can be steep, especially for enterprise editions, and licensing feels complicated. It can also be resource-hungry, so you need good hardware to get the most out of it.

A review on Microsoft SQL server

          4

I use SQL Server pretty much every day, and honestly, it’s been solid for our mid-sized company. Queries run fast most of the time, and the tools make pulling reports or building dashboards really straightforward. I like that security is tight—we don’t have to stress about sensitive data getting out. It’s also super convenient if you’re already working with other Microsoft tools; everything connects nicely, which saves a lot of time. The tricky part is some of the advanced stuff—it can get complicated if you’re diving into things like SSIS or Analysis Services. And yeah, licensing isn’t cheap if you’re running a full production setup.

          Pros:
I like how it’s part of the Microsoft Ecosystem. It makes it easier to integrate into Power BI. The UI for writing queries in nice and clear, not over complicating things. Performance and speed is dependent on your queries and how you optimize your model.
          Cons:
The free version for my personal desktop doesn’t allow for very big databases. Complex g ewww turned like SSIS can start to become complicated.

Overall my experience is it's very robust as a database. Stored procedures run quickly, the server is always running, and we hardly ever have to interfere with it and its operations. It's almost been like a set and forget kind of thing.

          Cons:
MY least favorite aspect of SQL server is managing security and roles for databases. Sometimes I feel like I end up in an endless spider-web of permissions trying to figure everything out. The costs can also blow out depending on your licensing requirements and if running locally in house, the hardware costs.
