Kyvos is a great product

PROS

With Kyvos, we could modernize our analytics stack and achieve quick responses to queries. Their Support team is always available, providing us with quick resolutions to our issues.

CONS

We deploy Kyvos on Azure through VMs, it would be nice if Kyvos was more cloud native

Kyvos review

Very positive. I like the team and support Kyvos provides as a vendor. I think that the strongest part of it. I feel being heard and always can rely on vendor services. Also I like the user friendly approach where end users feel some freedom with their actions and can explore the data they way they want without dependency on dev team.

PROS

UI is very friendly and very intuitive. Colors and design are attractive and in most cases impressive in a good way. As a PO i like the monitoring features where I can check user activity along with details like which attributes are being used/which are not. It creates a transparent view and gives an opportunity to improve resource consumption, build approach etc

CONS

Isolation between the cubes. I think this is the most painful part for me as of now. I d like to build a holistic view between datasets so that users can do investigations intuitively.

Reasons for switching to Kyvos

to be honest we are still using all Qlik and SAP products, but just utilizing it in a different way: Qlik is good with drill downs and regulatory reports, while SAP is good with printing forms design. Kyvos is dedicated for investigations as of now. Once it proves to be a reliable tool, we may consider onboarding more data.

Excellent Customer Service

The Kyvos product is very well received by our users. The Kyvos team really listen to our feedback and provide solutions to what we need going forward. This is then presented to us at future upgrade demos. The Kyvos team have integrated with our in house team seamlessly and they really do go the extra mile.

PROS

I have found Kyvos very intuitive as a product, however, my main experience is working with the Kyvos team whom have been brilliant throughout. We have weekly governance calls to ensure everything is covered off from a business perspective but also that any infrastructure/performance concerns can be addressed. The team are super responsive and excellent in their knowledge of not only their product but in understanding what our business needs. They work with us from the requirements gathering phase through to development, testing, performance impact analysis, UAT, implementation, Post Implementation Testing and monitoring to ensure we have an application not only up and running but working to the optimal standards at all times. As part of the ongoing monitoring, the Kyvos team often look at ways to optimize existing cubes with a desire and focus on continuous improvement. If only all vendors were as knowledgeable, helpful and reliable.

CONS

There are areas such as data blending that are not in our current version but i believe these are being introduced in one of the upgrades.

HDFS files are write once files. I consider HDFS files as write-once and read-many files

PROS

I like MapReduce code a lot. Mappers and Reducers and how the overall hierarchy goes by. Hadoop is a platform that I have chosen a year ago and still I am in love with it because of it's simplicity for solving complex problems involving very large database. I also did Apache Giraph which goes into graph processing and was a great experience learning a whole new product of Hadoop. I like solving real life challenges using Hadoop like predicting earthquakes so that the results could be less devastating. This is one of my proposed ideas but there are many more like these which I like a lot.

CONS

HDFS doesn't do random reads very well. A caveat of HDFS to remember, it is a distributed file system abstracted on top of local file system by hadoop, suitable for storing huge files; however, it does not provide facility of tabular form of storage as such.
