It has robust qualities such as programming of transformation tasks, as well as the tracking of said processes. ODI has precedents in terms of performance, that is, if the priority of an organization is the processing of information volumes, having at hand a robust but flexible tool then ODI is a great option. The way in which ODI is built in its architecture, allows changes to be made quickly, with ease from a technical perspective but with a great impact for business areas. ODI offers a really competitive tool to integrate with 3rd parties sources such: IBM DB2, Teradata, Sybase IQ and another protocols like plain text files, ERP, LDAP and XML.

We are one of the largest telecommunication services provider in Asia. We have a multi-million customer base. So the Big data team wanted an ETL tool which can manipulate the high volume of data with high performance. After long research, we chose ODI. We have installed the ODI in a clustered environment. Basically it runs on top of the Oracle Weblogic Server. However, install installation was quite hard. But we were able to manage that. We could able to interface ODI with hundreds of supported data sources. Finally, I can say this the best and most advanced ETL tool I have ever worked.

In latest version it comes up with integrating with Oracle Service Oriented Architecture services, and vice versa and it enables users to automate end to end business functionality across the products.

Yes, It's amazing data integration tool for new customers. It's easily connect to many database like MySql, SQL Server etc. It's completely user friendly. We can easily manage to packages, ETL and Procedures. Over all very good data mearging tool.

We can easily create the ETL and schedules. We can check logs on daily basis.

ODI allows to choose where collocate the trasformation area (Source, Target or other). ODI has so many connectors for the main data sources / destinations. ODI allow to customize the behavior the own connectors

Very few update for connectors. Very high pricing if not in bundle with other products. SAP connectors very expensive and hard to use

In general, my experience was great. I created Knowledges Modules based in templates, interfaces, scenarios, etc. and the data integration from may source was possible thanks to ODI.

Flexibility with the Knowledge Modules, besides the available tools in Designer for building my interfaces; the experience was really great.

I worked in version 11g, the audit module wasn't too clear sometimes. It was a little hard for debugging failed instances

Its capacity to store,maipulate and processing the data, It is helpful to process huge amounts of data.

It is a bit slow, I would rather recommend a newer version ODI 12 c which is much easier to use.

This product is very robust and has so many features to move and transform data. Once set up, it is very easy to grab data from many different sources. Allows us to group data ETL processes by project and automate the transfers

The product is quite confusing to use. lots of small parts that need to be set up in the right order. I found added Oracle packages to the mappings wasn't as straight forward as I would have liked.

Trainings and tutorials of Oracle Data Integrator can be found easily and doesn't need an IT expert to do the work. All can be tested in a virtual environment too. Recommended for small or medium businesses but for big projects like defining what data you have and understanding the process of integration. The results are easy for the management to have the helicopter view.

Oracle Data Integrator can be used for spesific tasks and projects. No free or trial versions are available.

I will definitely use it again

It is a very powerful tool, deeply integrated with the Oracle world. Very often it is inserted in solutions such as BI

the price is not very low so its adoption must be carefully evaluated

Una volta installato e settato il tutto, operazione non banale, gli utenti hanno potuto accedere velocemente a tutte le loro informazioni, con gran soddisfazione.

Oracle Data Integrator è una piattaforma di integrazione dati che offre un’architettura flessibile e scalabile e che permette di eseguire processi ETL su vari sistemi distribuiti, riducendo il carico di lavoro e migliorando l’efficienza. Data Integrator utilizza un approccio di elaborazione “set-based” per ottimizzare le prestazioni e questo consente di elaborare una grande quantità di dati in modo veloce e ridurre il processo di esecuzione del ETL. Io software, inoltre, integra una buona funzione di gestione degli errori che permette agli utenti di identificare e risolvere velocemente i problemi.

Il processo di installazione e configurazione iniziale richiede molto tempo ed il software, per utenti poco esperti, può risultare complesso da usare.

Sono soddisfatta dell’esperienza con ODI. Li sto usando principalmente per traferire i dati dalla piattaforma big data al data-warehouse dell’azienda.

Oracle Data Integrator è uno strumento user-friendly con molte possibilità per sviluppatori e analisti di dati. È semplice da usare per l'integrazione e la migrazione dei dati tra diverse fonti.

Vorrei che ci fosse un modo più semplice per migrare gli scenari di ODI 11g alle nuove versioni di ODI 12c.

ODI is much better and faster tha OWB and it can connect to any RDBMS and we can use any programming language to communicate with ODI

We converted our datwarehouse from OWB to ODI. ODI is faster than OWB. Learning curve was easier and lots of resources available online and the Oracle team was really helpful .

cloud Services were down without informing us. Uploading binary files to ODI was not easy and we had to raise a service request and use the sqlplus for loading the binary file. SCD's are handles differently in ODI than OWB.

Easy to load the data including text, CSV or XML file

Too much effort to implement the code in higher environment, It can be made user friendly

Over all it’s a bit of a hassle to use as it has many approval processes

The bulk upload by the admin and the capability of users to be given specific admin rights to update their own changes

Intigrating issues some after approval has not changed in the system

It's amazing when you have the power to aggregate data and make decisions from the aggregated data. This software truly is amazing, once you get past the learning curve.

The use of the ODI studio, because it is slow and you end up without RAM and it force you to restart the program and that makes your work slow

Decent entry into the data integration landscape

It provided the basic levels of functionality associated with data integration. The functionality is best associated with Oracle-related data sources.

The product is somewhat too tightly aligned with the Oracle platform

I have used the Data Integrator on a regular basis, and have had nothing but issues with the service team. Rumor has it that in 2017 service will be a premium, paid feature. No thanks!
