Fantastic user interface. The data visualization functionality is very powerful and really helps tell the stories behind the data.

Its greatest strength is its flexibility to accept almost any kind of data and form them into displays with each other.

Main business problems for using Tableau are analyzing metrics for daily operations, specifically failure rates and tracking completion.

There are some limitations (eg. email alert layout is extremely limited, you can only drag the date range filter as opposed to selecting dates). Some of our dashboards load very slowly.

There are great visuals right out of the box, and very clever interactions that allow you to drill down.

Overall a high value application, with planty of options and gave me an excellent solution for a costum dashboard.

Spotfire is the gold standard when it comes to analyzing and presenting your data in a meaningful way.

This was never  intuitive for me, so I would just mess around with the axes until it looked like I wanted it to. Occasionally, this would become frustrating.

The software allows a multitude of visualization options and charting types. The built in integrations (with R for example) are incredibly powerful and save a lot of time.

This took about an hour. Then, I was able to play around and make beautiful visualizations.

It was so useful to color code various customer types and understand how their revenue shifted as various pricing rules were applied.
