VSphere was up to the challenge using a commodity Dell Intel server with 64 GB RAM. It provided virtualization support to 22 VSphere clients. The clients merely provided the VM display and all the processing is done on the server side. The control center for managing the virtual machines is extremely simple to use and the migration (using VMware VMotion) is also seamless. The next step for us is to start testing network virtualization using the VMware NSX server. Cons: The client software hangs and lags unexpectedly. As a developer, I sense that the VSphere client could be better enhanced in terms of performance as well as in the look and feel.
