It is very helpful for my business

What I like about this product is it’s ease of use and capabilities, very helpful for my business and it is interactive

CONS

In my opinion I think it is a little bit pricy, costs too much to make it fully functional. But nonetheless it is good.

SSI Consulting/Dynamcis SL review

PROS

Dynamics SL is very flexible, and it handles government contracting very well. SSI does a great job of implementation and ongoing support. It is especially helpful that they understand the nuances of government contracting.

CONS

Being very flexible is good news and bad news. It means you have to be more thorough in your setup to make sure you get things the way you want them. It also means that the support consultant is critical to getting it right. SSI is great at this. Just wish there were more like them. Dynamics SL is very flexible and great for government contractors. SSI is great in those areas as well. They have been extremely helpful, from planning and implementation through continual support.

Dynamic SL Review

PROS

Provides the necessary tools to process a service dispatch function. Have been using Dynamics SL since 2005 and at that time, it was one of the best available software that had the service dispatch module along with the accounting software. We also had a local dealer that helped us implement.

CONS

Has not kept up with changing times. Not sure how much Microsoft spend in research and development of Dynamic SL to stay current with changing technology. You have to access various screens to view information that should be available with a click. The service invoices are not connected to payroll, inventory, or purchasing. There are constant bugs in the software that we have to get a third party to fix.

We have been able to customize SL to make it work for our company needs

PROS

This software is easy to pull any data you need through quick queries with the export to excel feature.

CONS

There is quite a bit of setup going into programming to get it to run the way you need it because there's different pieces to get the system to work.

Double clicking can cause the whole system to malfunction for some reason

A regular part of my job

I enjoyed it! The foundation that I learned on this software can be applied to multiple jobs in various industries.

PROS

The best part of this software was that it was very user friendly and easy to grasp as a new employee at the time. This software being a regular part of my job wasn’t a headache because no prior experience was required.

CONS

The downside is that technical support for troubleshooting had to be handled by our in house IT team because Microsoft’s technical support was a bit pricey.

Perfect for Project Based Accounting

This is a real accounting system, if you've got people who have never used anything but Quickbooks, you're in for a big mess! If you've got real accountants and not bookkeepers, you will be VERY pleased with this product.

PROS

It interfaces with our purchase order software (Sapphire Build) and gives us the detailed job cost we were lacking from our old accounting software.

CONS

It is not very user friendly. Training is almost non existent for it, and it isn't a widely used software.

Poor time sheet system

PROS

Not many, overall basic design and interface

CONS

Horrible time taking features, constantly miscalculating hours spent on tasks after inputted. Limited space in notes field to describe tasks completed leading to acronym or shorthand which can be misleading.

To many extra processing steps, example, after you have entered a cash transaction, then you have to release the cash transaction, then you have to release it from the GL, then you have to post to the GL.

Dynamics is great

Its been great as I am able to get my reports and business analysis.

PROS

I like Dynamics as it one of the better ERP systems and is easier to use than the traditional ERP systems.

CONS

There wasn't anything that I disliked about Dynamics as all the features are available and is easy to use once familiar.

Solid and dependable ERP that fits our business

Dynamics SL is a solid product that is very dependable and flexible to our needs. It has helped accommodate our growth and expansion for years into other geographies and with new applications.

PROS

It is dependable, agile, able to integrate with almost any other solution in our IT footprint and intuitive.

CONS

While it handle's 90% of our business, need to rely on some ISV's to accommodate. They generally work very well together - just another thing to manage.

PROS

It is a very intuitive ERP software system that can run very dynamic reports. Microsoft Dynamics SL is a very powerful "out of the box" ERP system. The learning curve can be a bit cumbersome.

CONS

It does not work well in our industry. We need too many customized programs, reports, and inventory calculations so the cost of the software (custom programming) has become a burden.

Microsoft Dynamics a great tool for beginners

I think my experience working with this software was very good, because i have been familiarized with the microsoft software since 4 years ago and i think was very useful for me.

PROS

The Whole software is really useful, above all i think the tools and the interface is really helpful for the people that is starting with their own company, thanks to this software the employees can invest their time very well and working.

CONS

I think this software don´t have much cons, but if i can say something about it, it´s about the interface, it can be difficult for the new people use the software in a easy way.

Project setup is quite easy for users, as is review and analysis. We manage by budget for each project and have never had an issue or need for additional information. Time and Expense capturing by employees is painless and efficient. This is highly important to a project centric organization. It meets our needs and users are content.

PROS

AP, AR and GL processing is straight forward and quite efficient. Multi-Currency - We use three different currencies, and Dynamics allows us to easily create journal entries, raise sales invoices, and receive payments in any of those currencies.

CONS

Big Fan of the Functionality

As a PM manager of a coffee shop, professionalism and communication is key. This program allows us to introduce and share a number of thoughts, maintain finances (such as projects on a budget), assign tasks where needed, and much more. These are important concepts that many other programs lack (in sum). I have been extremely satisfied with all Microsoft products, and this only affirms that appreciation for their quality.

PROS

Better budgeting options, assigning/creating specific tasks that allow others to be engaged and the business to grow.

CONS

More options regarding inventory would be a helpful addition to the program.

MS Dynamics Review

My experience has been mixed with this platform. It does the GL accounting part fairly well. IT has limited functionality in terms of effective project management. The system reports are very basic requiring extensive external data manipulation and custom report writing. It's a reasonably priced solution.

PROS

- Low Total Cost of Ownership - Ease of implementation - Reasonable GL accounting module

CONS

- PM capabilities are very limited - Canned system reports are limited - Multi-currency financials are challenging requiring third party solutions.

Extremely easy to use.

Microsoft Dynamics SL is being used throughout our whole company on a daily basis. It is used from service techs, to sales people, and to accounting department. If someone is looking for a true accounting system for a small to mid-sized company, then I would definitely suggest looking into Microsoft Dynamics SL.

Review of Microsoft Dynamics SL

Great ERP system, used it for project management and reporting finance. Amazing for for cost allocations, markups, and pricing. It has a strong independent Users Group. Customization is very easy and contains a lot of otions for the same. Ability to Copy/Paste into Dynamics SL has always been a strength- especially from Excel. Documentation needs some improvement though (you can find more details online, that is always there!).
