My Number One DAW Software

Fl Studio has made my musical journey interesting and simple, it has got so many features and tools that you can use to explore your creativity in sound design with endless possibilities in what you can do, I use it to record vocals, instruments, and also design sound effects. I have never been this satisfied. It's the best DAW of all time. It helps me work faster and organize my projects so that I can easily navigate the program and allows me to customize my projects with color and icons so that I can visually see different parts of my projects with ease and without stressing.

PROS

FL Studio is my favorite DAW, I love the interface, and It's so easy to use. I have used FL for a decade now I don't think I will ever change to another. I have tried so many similar programs only Fl Studio stood out to be faster and more comfortable to work with. It supports countless third-party plugins that you download from other vendors which you can easily install and use in no time. FL Studio is easily integrated with other software and you can also use a mobile version that is available in popular app stores. It is very popular in many studio setups, it can be easily installed and comes with a bunch of stock plugins that can be used immediately after installation without having to download extra ones. Its supports many hardware devices such as mics, sound interfaces, midi controllers, input and output devices in a plug and play style.

CONS

It's not free but you can download a trial version which has limitations. If you are just starting out I recommend you start with a trial version. It took time for me to learn how to use it effectively, as a beginner I had to learn from experienced users because at that time I had no access to the internet and youtube as we do now. Learning how it works will help in getting the most out of this program.

I'll Always support Image Line

FL Studio has been the best program to write in or to hook up to midi and to record vocals straight into a live recording. Image line has seriously done a great job in developing this program all the while looking after the users by listening to them and then tweaking VST's and fx generators / plugins. You guys rock. Thanks

PROS

After extensively using composing programs like Reason, Cakewalk, impulse Tracker, and Fl Studio etc , I found that FL studio was the most user friendly when learning the program. It also, for some reason, has the best sound engine. It just sounds so much better than the others . FL studios code must be so neat and tidy because it never hangs freezes while writing a large composition, and it just keeps ticking on time as soon as you push spacebar.

CONS

After using F L since when it was originally called Fruity Loops , I still struggle to load up "flp" files from 2003 in the Latest FL Studio. Maybe when saving a new project, it could copy those exact samples automatically into a new folder dedicated to each project. Now that would be helpful.Think about it!. That way each composition safely keeps it's associated files and samples together, including any licenses if needed for releasing. But That's laziness on my part really...

Reason for choosing FL Studio

It's just a better product overall. It would win in 8\10 race categories .... if it were a race.. lol

Reasons for switching to FL Studio

easier to navigate and has superior options, tech support and sound engine. It's easy to compare the level of technology that FL Studio offers to the others.

The most complicated app in this world

An utter delusion. Don’t lose your time with this.

PROS

I didn’t like anything really. It’s just so complicated you can’t do a thing on this thing and there are no good tutorials

CONS

You basically have to do a course or a degree to learn just what the buttons are for. Uselessly complicated.

The All Rounder Audio Production App

I have produced many profitable projects with using FL Studio, the surprise is that there is always something new to learn when using the App.

PROS

FL Studio is extremely useful in several projects, including the making of films, YouTube videos, vocal recording, music creation, etc. The App can be used by people with different levels of expertise. The best application for multimedia use.

CONS

The application has everything you would need in Audio Production, in Mastering of audios.

Reason for choosing FL Studio

The features made me stay, the loadable packs and the plugins.

Reasons for switching to FL Studio

There are limited features on Reason compared to FL Studio's vast features.

An excellent software, no complaints

A breeze to use. It just works, and does perfectly what it’s supposed to do. The note editor for example is one of the best in town, the concept is the same as all but FL studio is somehow smoother and easier to use once you learn how to do it. There are better alternatives in theory, but it depends very much on your needs and commitment. Unless you have very specific needs not covered but FL Studio (unlikely), why go overboard with apps that are too complicated even to do the basic stuff when FL Studio just works?

PROS

FL Studio is quite easy to get started with, from deployment to basic config and the first note recorded it is much less overwhelming than other more complicated alternatives. This doesn’t mean that it lacks features, however, especially if you’re into certain kind of music (more towards electronic and such than symphonic or such). Yes, the interface is not perfect and there are alternatives even more powerful, but for the price and mellower learning curve I liked and still like it a lot

CONS

Nothing much really. It works, and is relatively simpler to use (a DAW is never easy though, even doing the basic stuff like recording or writing a note is usually more complicated that it seems). And it does not require the same amount of money or some alternatives to begin with

Reason for choosing FL Studio

At the time it was cheaper and less overwhelming for a beginner, and after years of use I can confirm!

Awesome Music Production product with advanced functionalities and simple, easy to use interface

My overall experience with FL Studio has been really positive and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to get into music production. It is an inexpensive, easy to learn and quality software to produce your music.

PROS

The thing I like the most about FL studio is the interface and the ease of music production on FL studio. There is a large library of inbuilt samples and plugins which are very helpful. Also, the quality of music is awesome. The price point is inexpensive and can be helpful to anybody to get into music creation. Learning curve is very easy and straightforward.

CONS

The thing I like the least about FL Studio is its handling of advanced features. Using advanced features is little bit hard and requires digging into learning resources. Also, the support is not very helpful most of the times.

Reason for choosing FL Studio

We chose FL studio due to the cost effectiveness and the overall easy to learn interface of FL studio over others.

Unique workflow, with great tools and free updates!

I've used FL Studio over 15 years in various capacities and it has always been a positive experience. I have however moved my live looping and live recording needs to another DAW, but I always come back to FL Studio for a few things; - Quick startup for experiments and ideas - Scoring to picture / video (Although I may be moving this to another DAW, it still works fine in FLS) - Managing plugins for experiments and sound design (their plugin browser is easy ton configure and customize) -Creation of video / visuals using zGameEditor

PROS

The free updates is by far the most valuable part of FL Studio. Having purchased the software over 9 years ago, I'm get new features and updates for free up to this day. Compared to any other DAW, that's unheard of. Aside from its unique workflow which is quite useful for breaking out of creative blocks, there are a few excellent flexibility options for sound design and composing alike. Patcher, its unlimited node based effects chain solution is invaluable for sound design sessions. Its Piano Roll is also the best I've used in comparison to some other DAWs and is a great option for working out MIDI parts on the fly. Plugin Delay compensation used to be an issue, but it's now automatically handled well. Some older reviews might mention this as a con, so it's worth pointing out that Image Line's free updates policy is one that pays for itself in the long run. Since its popularity has increased tenfold over the last few years, almost every plugin or 3rd party solution supports FL Studio, so there's no real reason not to have even the cheapest version of this DAW in your arsenal. Coupled with the fact that some versions come with the FL Mobile editor built in, you can make music on the go with FL Mobile, and import your project in the full FL Studio to finish it up.

CONS

Live recording is often highlighted as FL Studio's biggest snag point, and after using various other DAWs, its outdated approach isn't as streamlined as its competitors. It is however completely usable and can provide more than enough flexibility to how recording is done, such as through its audio editor "Edison". There are some plugins which have issues with FL Studio, based on the way their buffer requirements are set up, but these are usually configurable from the plugin wrapper and can be resolved.

If you're working at the MIDI level, look no further than FL Studio

FL Studio makes writing music incredibly fast and enjoyable. The core plugins are enough to get you started, and are of excellent quality (though you may find yourself still using 3rd party effects for reverbs and delays). However if you're a beginner, what it offers is more than enough, and you'll have no problem getting used to the software, even though all DAWs look pretty overwhelming at first.I had to write a review for FL Studio because it has given me so much and I wanted to give something back. If it wasn't for image-line I probably wouldn't be making music right now.

PROS

The biggest and best feature of FL Studio, in my opinion, is the piano roll. It makes working at the MIDI level a joy. So if you're more accustomed to using virtual instruments and moving notes around manually instead of recording, then you'll get some serious bang for your buck here. Other DAW users have been envious of my ability to pitch bend without the use of automation or drawing lines all over the pattern. If you don't own a MIDI controller, the piano roll wins again because it's just so easy to modify the notes and FL comes with the best virtual keyboard I've ever used. Select the scale you want and never play out of tune again. With FL 21 you can now even select the root note so it's not locked to C anymore.Another pro I need to mention is its small price tag. I picked my producer copy up for ~£150 during a Christmas sale. That's for lifetime free updates, too. Not only is it one of the most inexpensive DAWs, but they do have a few sales you should keep your eye out for if you're considering purchasing it.Then there's FLEX.. a preset based synthesizer. [SENSITIVE CONTENT] of FL Studio get access to a bunch of free packs, and the premium packs aren't that expensive either. I bought one for £15 inc. VAT. FLEX has really inspired me to a whole new level. The music just about writes itself. I couldn't believe it came with FL Studio for free.

CONS

I wasn't a huge fan of how patterns are separate from tracks. It's a bit of a weird concept to get your head around. It makes things a little more versatile, but it can also be quite confusing on larger projects if you don't assemble it correctly. You also need to make sure you have the correct instrument selected before laying down notes in the pattern. It's just something I don't like very much about the software. If the pros didn't outweigh this problem so much, I probably wouldn't have stuck with FL and recommended it.

Powerful DAW

I have been using FL Studio since 8 years and by far it has been the best choice when producing beats or recording vocals.

PROS

- Channel Rack: The channel rack is basically a drum sequencer that is very easy to use. You can program drum loops by a couple of mouse clicks. - Playlist: The playlist view offers great functionality when editing audio clips as you can slice, duplicate and rearrange them according to your preference. - Piano Roll: Comparing the piano roll in FL Studio with others DAWs it definitely the best out there. The main features in the piano roll is writing music pieces in an extremely powerful way where you can resize, chop, pitch and pan the note directly from the piano roll. - Mixer: 100 mixer channels with 9 effects in each channel makes the mixing process extremely smooth. The mixer has many features that come in handy when working on complicated projects. For example, you can change the color and the size of the channels according to a certain theme or preference.

CONS

- Automation: Working on automation clips is very frustrating unlike other audio programs as the functionality is very weak and primitive. - Parallel Compression: If in at any circumstance you wanted to do parallel compression you need to make a mess by routing the mixer channel to a several channels and combine them again which puts a high load on the CPU - Deleting audio files from the software doesn't delete them from your PC so you need to manually delete them from the file explorer.

I love FL studio, this is my Go to Tool for creating Amazing music

PROS

the things I love most about FL studio are that, FL is a true example of a creation tool, and there is literally no limit to what kind of sounds you can create on FL studio, everything is so neatly organized and the design is slick and futuristic. The tools are so easy to use and for literally any sound you want to create there is a tool for that, you just need to be creative. There is no limit

Fl studio: The versatile music production software for every skill level

I have been able to create entertaining and refreshing music with fl studio. I have also used it to create audio tracks and sound effects for youtube videos. It has enabled me to create my phone ringing tone to express my uniqueness. I have also been able to record and add effects to audio advertisements for radios and televisions

PROS

Its ability to support wide range of third-party plugins including virtual instruments and effects is amazing for me because it makes my sound designing and production to be fun. Moreover its pattern-based sequencing is notable. This feature allows me to create and arrange patterns easily. Its ability to record midi and audio is also powerful. I also love the mixture track routing and grouping because it helps me manage and mix large projects.

CONS

The interface was abit challenging to navigate when I first started using it. Fl studio also has compatibility issues with some plugins and software which is a times frustrating for example apple audio units

A very easy to use DAW

My experience with the software is simple: I've been using it for over 4 years and I've encouraged all my beat maker friends to do the same. I tried to use other software of this type but FL Studio seems to be the best in the field.

PROS

FL Studio is the software that made me fall in love with Beat making! The ease and comprehension of the software is incredible thanks to the pattern system and the piano roll which allow to make audible almost all our ideas. With a powerful enough computer, there are almost no bugs and the very active community behind the software allows us to solve almost any problem without going through the customer support. The connectivity between the mixer and the patterns makes it easier to modify and mix the sound as you wish. The plug-ins already integrated into FL Studio are more than enough to explore all the possibilities, but the fact that many of the flagship plug-ins can be associated with it offers even more possibilities to create.

CONS

The flaws I could find in FL are maybe the sound quality of some instruments and the fact that the integrated drums kit is directly directed towards a particular style of music instead of being more generalized. The integrated software related to the mixing doesn't offer a great quality during this phase of creation either but it remains easy to use for a beginner in the field.

Great Music Production

PROS

FL is one of the oldest music production tools I know. I have used FL Studio for the past 10 years and what I like most about the application is that it doesn't take much space on my Hard drive, it is easy to use, and it also gives room for you to do a complete production on a single app. That is, you can produce beats, record voice and perfectly mix on it. It also makes it possible for you to import wav and mp3 files.

CONS

I will like it if FL tools like the Pitcher should be upgraded. Because most times, I will need to use extra pluggings in order to fine-tune someone's voice. If the instruments found in Sytrus can also be upgraded then it will be lovely.

The best DAW for all producers.

Thanks to Fl studio, I was able to take my first steps in the world of music production. it is affordable and offers all the tools imaginable for beatmakers and composers to improve their art.

PROS

The strong point which is particularly appreciable on FL studio is the ease with which the composition is feasible, thanks in particular to its beattrack, but also its PianoRoll which is undoubtedly the best on the market. but also the native composition plugins are excellent, namely Flex, Sytrus, Harmless, Toxic and others. It is a pleasure to work with Fl Studio in addition to the egornomic interface nicely adapted for comfortable and efficient use.

CONS

According to me Fl Studio is not powerful enough for professional mixing, the routing although effective does not allow very technical processing

FL Studio, champion of the Digital Audio Workstation's (DAW)

FL Studio is a user friendly digital audio workstation with a pleasing user interface, which makes you want to make music. The creators, Image-Line, are constantly updating FL Studio to make it better.

PROS

FL Studio is the all in one digital audio workstation with every audio tool for producers, as well as recording and mixing engineers. You can make musical arrangements by using audio samples and audio VST plugins, then create musical patterns in the step sequencer, and then arrange those patterns on the playlist to create a full length song. You can also capture audio if using an audio interface, which will allow you to record instruments directly through an audio cable or vocals through a microphone. Once you have your song complete, you can mix the song in the mixer, using effect VST plugins like compressors and equalisers to enhance the sound and make sure the different sounds don't clash.

CONS

Although FL Studio does have some built in VST plugins which cover the basics, there are better 3rd party plugins which you will need to purchase if you would like to unlock the full potential of FL studio.

An Extremely Fun and Artistic Tool

I have used this software for the first time when I was in elementary. My friend and I used to fiddle around in the program back in those days, creating beats or simple songs in a freestyle approach. It was very challenging at times, finding the right samples and sound effects, but in the end it was a very amusing experience, no matter the outcome. Definitely one of the best editors for music in general.

PROS

When a creative mind finds a proper means to manifest its vision, wonders happen. That is exactly what Fruity Loops aims to accomplish. With so many options to choose from, the ways in which you can record, then edit, mix and master sounds into a cohesive whole suited for your own tastes are near limitless.

CONS

It is quite complex when you begin using it, and watching tutorials for certain functionalities is a must if you mean to have a more serious approach, or even tread down a professional path. Indeed, it is an intricate software, but that is only natural, what with its vast offer of possibilities and tools at your disposal.
