About Sage 100 Contractor (formerly Sage Master Builder)

Sage 100 Contractor, formerly known as Sage Master Builder, focuses on small to midsize construction companies, whether they are a general contractor, service or specialty contractor or a home builder.

Suitable for companies that have outgrown generic accounting software, the suite of applications encompass the entire construction cycle and include accounting, estimating, project scheduling and management, job costing and service management. The software provides an interactive dashboard that provides instant visibility into things like the status of current job costs, pending operations or company performance. The dashboard also enables users to drill down into larger data sets and see further details like invoices generated or the latest change order.

Excellent Software

My experience with this software was excellent. I had used a basic Sage Accounting software for years and before Sage bought this particular accounting software, it was Peachtree. I loved it.

Pros

Reporting is excellent. User friendly. Ease of teaching employees. online forums are spot on for good information. Immediate help via chat or calling with more difficult issues. I love that they can help by driving my computer when I could not figure out an issue. They take fixes seriously for the next update. Very professional looking invoicing and reporting and very easy to get exactly what you need without a bunch of drop downs and reconfiguring of the crystal reports.

Cons

There is actually nothing I dislike about this software. It is by far my favorite accounting software.

Sage 100 Contractor is a great business solution

Overall experience using Sage 100 Contractor is great.

Pros

What I really like in Sage 100 Contractor is when we start setting up the software it was very quick to go live after short period, The annual revenue for the company I was working for is 35+ million. we shifted from old software to Sage 100 Contractor within two months, I did few demonstrations for my colleague about how to use Sage 100 Contractor and all of them they found Sage 100 Contractor easy to use and very helpful for our business, and reporting in Sage 100 Contractor is great.

Cons

I didn't face any issue or something I didn't like in Sage 100 Contractor. but the developing in Sage 100 Contractor is impossible.

Reasons for Choosing Sage 100 Contractor (formerly Sage Master Builder)

Sage 100 Contractor is less expensive from SAP Business One.

ease on getting help

Training was great but now it is hard to find someone that will help us. [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] knew everything and wish we could call one person to help us. You lost a great person. Would be nice to call someone that knows our system and could show us the best way to get what we want. Sometimes it is just knowing where to go.

Pros

It makes payroll a lot faster We can run reports and see if the job we did where the profit and loses were so next time we bid a job we can adjust

Cons

Sage Service Operation Cant see where the guys are and if they are even working. Can't log in a new job from my phone. Need to have sage on my phone for that and that in not happening. If have a problem have to go through Chat and several people before someone will log into me computer and I can show them the problem to get it fixed.

Good software from a reliable vendor

Pros

As the systems administrator I like the flexibility of the product. The report writer isn't the most friendly, but it definitely gives a lot of flexibility in creating any reports you need. Sage updates the product regularly, and over the last few years has added many useful features. Soon they will be migrating to a new database format as well.

Cons

I very much dislike that when help is needed with creating a custom report, you get referred to your reseller. Then they just want to up-sell you on everything and never really deliver on the promises.

Sage 100 Contractor Review

Once I understood how to work Sage, I was able to maneauver through different modules pretty quickly and process things. I enjoyed how in depth job costing was, but I wish there were simpler processes for simple tasks instead of bouncing between modules.

Pros

I liked the fact that you could be really in-depth with job costing and billing which helped pinpoint correct costs and what we should be charging in order to cover those costs and continue to profit. You were also able to customize things to fit your company if you were more technologically inclined and willing to learn the software.

Cons

It was not user friendly, especially to anyone who was already technologically challenged. You would also have to involve several modules for certain tasks in order for things to process correctly. If you made a mistake, the task of backing things out took a lot of time.
