Nutshell is a cloud-based customer relationship management (CRM) software for small businesses. The Nutshell platform offers sales process and collaboration tools, email sync with Gmail and Outlook, reporting and more to outbound sales teams.

Nutshell is designed to be implemented in a single day and offers a range of integrations with various business tools like Google Apps, MailChimp, Olark and Zendesk. The application offers contact management and sales force automation applications with a range of email tracking, task management, note taking, pipeline management, forecasting and reporting modules, in addition to basic customer service capabilities such as ticket management.

Nutshell also offers native iPhone and Android applications with real-time synchronization across all devices, allowing sales reps to create, search and edit contact information while in the field. Reps can also use these apps to log activities and meetings using audio or video recordings.

Nutshell offers unlimited online storage and a static price model, as well as a live support staff.

I think this could be a useful CRM if I was able to navigate through it easier with some training, help and time.

Pros

Videos showing different tools that can be used; quick customer help via email; live demo every Tues/Thurs; app for phone

Cons

With the Videos though I am unable to implement those steps on my Nutshell; unable to chat live or speak to someone on the phone, everything is via email; unable to link my contacts; unable to link Constant Contact; unable to link to my outlook to save email conversations with lead; the live demo doesn't show me how to use the other features like sending mass emails that look like individual emails, where to set up tags and how to link those tags to multiple contacts without having to go into each contact.

First, the staff at Nutshell have been amazing (and very patient!) Super helpful on the phone, was able to walk me through more than one process. The software is great, organized our sales pipeline and helped me with the dreaded follow up. It's really pretty intuitive.

The software is almost too detailed. I know that may not sound like a negative, and it's probably not, but there was a lot to it.

Recommendations

The Nutshell team has done an amazing job to make their CRM software easy to use. Each interface and workflow has been designed to be simple and straight to the point. Pages are loading fast and you don't need more than 30min of training to start using it (vs many hours with Salesforce).

Amazing support! They were there whenever I needed them. Nothing better than instant chat support. Easy product to use, configure, and support from an Internal IT perspective. When we were forced away from using them, it was very easy to get all our data out.

I would like a template and to do list from that template. We do a lot of print ordering and it would be nice to have an order template that shows the steps of a print order and we can just check them off as we go.

It's very easy to use. There's no fluff in your way to get through recording good notes on sale leads. There's not much training required.

Reporting is very weak. You will not know important KPI or deal flow info from this CRM.

Recommendations

It's a very good starter software while you are still managing a simple sales process and not an intense amount of leads. The more you get and the more reporting you need, the more difficult it becomes.

The updates, always changing and improving. I also like how it is integrated with my email. Just the other day I had given feedback and suggestions on improving the software, then I got a email a week later and they have already added it so really like that.

Sometimes the system has downtime. They have temporary issues from time to time, and when they do, I can't get anything done. Usually it's very few and far in between.

Recommendations

You have to try it for yourself. This is great software for inputting and saving information for future use (e.g. lead demographics, location, etc.).

Nutshell has been a great fit for me in tracking all of my sales activities. This service is very easy to use and allows me to quickly retrieve key account or contact details to allow me to better service my prospects and customers. I appreciate the fact that it can be as simple or complex as you need it to be, meaning that every feature is not made into a field that you have to navigate even if you do not use them. All interaction with Nutshell staff has been very quick and efficient. They continue to roll out additional product features so you know that they are growing. The price for this service is very reasonable and I would certainly even pay more knowing the value that it has given my business.

Nutshell is still growing a little bit, so there are features that are still in the works for development or improvement. However, they communicate well on some of what they are working on so you know progress is being made.

Recommendations

Contact users of any CRM to ask about their experiences or read plenty of reviews to get a good idea of how it might work for you. I talked with many sales professionals that use CRM’s prior to investing my time and energy choosing and inputting all of my information, and I am glad that I did.

Nutshell provides you with a fairly simple interface that even the most computer illiterate person can figure out. If you need to track leads, keep a steady contact list, or even pull a graph of your highest selling product, Nutshell truly has it all for the small business. Paying a low price is always a positive as well!

Once you start to grow your business (medium level) you most likely will begin to outgrow Nutshell. The ease of use counteracts with the customization allowed, meaning you have to find creative avenues to display the information you need where you need it. It also is fairly hard to add new products/manage them. It is not a recommended CRM if you have hundreds of different products. It would be really nice if they set up an auto-email function triggered by stages/dates.

Recommendations

Make sure to do the trial version of Nutshell before completely committing to it. Nutshell may not be the best fit for your particular business, especially if you have hundreds of products.

We needed a CRM that was extremely user-friendly, for people not familiar with complex CRMs. I love that I can say, Nutshell is so simple, even a CEO can use it. (Yes, I'm a CEO. I'm smart, I mean, I'm the architect of our software. But who has time to learn all the details of something that isn't your field?)

I wish I could just dictate into it. (And there's nothing I dislike about this vendor; they are responsive, even to dumb CEO questions. And I think they are all at least 40 years younger than me.)

Recommendations

Get the person on the team who hates CRM the most to be on the evaluation team. Otherwise, you will end up with the most complicated one. (That is why I tried it first.)

Based in the United States and data does not go offshore. You can add and delete users very quickly. You can control what the users have access to. New things are being added, and they are improving the site. I like the fact that emails are added automatically when you click on the address in the profile. I wish responses were added as well but you have to do that manually.

No one to talk to live. Everything is done over chat, and that drives me crazy. Sometimes you can not copy and paste without using the dropdown menus. I wish some content would be replicated when the new user is added to the same account. You have to key stroke everything again.

Recommendations

Test it. Get a demo. Watch the youtube videos. The price value here is really difficult to beat. Great price for the functionality. They need better training to have users take advantage of the functionality.

I dislike that backups are not automated and that the API is lacking in certain areas, with the ability to quickly return queries that face modifications to custom fields.

Recommendations

Try using and training your staff on Salesforce. After you wake them up, try Nutshell. You'll notice an uptick in productivity, collaboration, and general awareness to meet quota.

Cons

While the UI is pretty easy to use, navigating from one section to the other can be lengthy. Some of the UI design could be updated. Over all did not affect usability.

We no longer use Nutshell but it doesn't mean that it would be the right solution for another business. We just found that we enjoyed SalesForce more and it worked better for our needs.

Pros

Nutshell is a good price compared to other CRM software, however, only if you don't need all the extra features the other software offers like SalesForce. It is built specifically for B2B so if your business only operates B2B and not B2C it has unique features that will come in handy. It's also pretty user friendly once you understand it, however we found it to have a decent learning curve.

Cons

Sometimes I find the software running slowly and can be a little glitchy, especially on the mobile apps. It was this reason that we decided to change CRM software.

Pros

Nutshell is a wonderful CRM that allows you to view and stay up-to-date on relations. Nutshell has cross platform support between Apple and PC, and it allows you to use nutshell on your phone if it's an Android or an iPhone. Everything is organized and well laid-out and nutshell.

Cons

There are some minor bugs with nutshell that may affect performance. Although, there is no big glaring issues to deal with.

Two times I brought Nutshell into a sales organizations and both times the launch was good -- this space is competitive though, and twice we cancelled out of Nutshell as others found CRMs that offered a bit more robust options. They've probably updated since I last used 12 months ago.

Pros

Superfast to setup and easy to explain usage basics to newbies in sales. Good mobile app. Was simple to explain to non-CRM using administrator. at the time we onboarded they had a free trial period.

Cons

The color themes seemed a little old-school, and the ability to import data seemed a bit more cumbersome vs GetBase or Pipedrive.

Cons

Nutshell helps all of our project managers and sales staff stay on the same page when either closing or nurturing leads after the point of closing. It also helps our staff manage communications and updates with leads with handy reminders letting you know to touch base with a lead every so often.

Pros

Nutshell is insanely powerful in that it can be customized to your needs pretty heavily, and has some nice features like Outlook integrations and auto-population of contact info from LinkedIn/address books.

Having all email correspondence with leads auto-entered into Nutshell is a huge time saver, and is easily our most liked feature.

Cons

The UI can be a bit cluttered/clunky at times, and the lack of a well put together mobile app makes it a pain to use on mobile devices. We found ourselves often waiting until we got to a desktop to enter/update leads, which defeats the purpose of keeping the CRM always updated.

It made filling out the review quite easy

Pros

Great support, uncluttered, has features we need. This is the first CRM I have every used, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I was pretty comfortable with starting to use it. It is fairly intuitive even for someone that is not accustomed to CRM software. They have good tutorials and training information.

Cons

Every time I get it all figured out, they make updates and I have to keep figuring it out again and sometimes it takes awhile before i understand how it all works. ON the computer, I don't have as many problems with adjusting to the changes, but it is harder when using on the phone.

Nutshell is amongst the easiest to use CRM out there and I have been chanced to try out a few over the years. Nutshell is cool to use from the perspective of user experience and even setup time.
Unlike most other CRM , Nutshell does not require a consultant to begin using Nutshell in any sales departments , thanks to the free on-boarding assistance offered users by the Nutshell team.
As a Nutshell user,I am able to visualize the most vital and current information about every lead our sales team communicate with.I am able to scan business cards , and synchronize my phone contact list with nutshell, thereby increasing our lead base.
I like its support for mobile,and this has made it possible for me to manage sales pipeline, pull up client contacts , and get notification on every deal right from my smartphone.

Cons

I will like to be able to rearrange the dashboard ,as there are one or two things on there which creates no value for me and my team.

Nutshell is a web based customer relationship management program ,and this eliminates the hassle of setting up and maintaining software, which is a weak point of non - web based Legacy CRM programs. Nutshell meets all of our expectation ,and allows for multiple user access ,smartphone access and it is cross platform too.

Cons

It has been a bit of a challenge trying to find other programs which can natively be integrate with Nutshell,to improve our sales process.

It doesn't have all the possible features you could imagine/desire, but worked well for small business purposes

Pros

The search feature for existing leads is really good and smart. Adding new leads can be a little confusing for first time users. Importing a list of leads from an EXCEL spreadsheet is a great feature and can save you a-lot of time.

Cons

This software has a huge learning curve for first time users and one little mistake can mess up an entire lead. The layout of the software is very busy and can be confusing.
