Employment Hero is a cloud-based human resource (HRM) management system available to businesses of all industries and sizes. The solution helps manage the entire employee lifecycle, with modules for recruiting, onboarding, payroll, time and attendance, performance review and more.

Employment Hero’s other features include a supporting law firm that keeps contacts and HR policies up to date and employee self-service functionality that allows workers to request leave, view payslips and timesheets and edit personal or banking information.

In regard to recruiting, Employment Hero allows users to create their careers page, post to the Employment Hero jobs board, create questionnaires for candidates and do things like background checks.

An onboarding checklist ensures that all workers are compliant and allows to automate the manual paper-based processes. From there, timesheets can be filled out by employees and approved by managers, payroll can be outsourced to Employment Hero for accuracy and reporting can help gain insight into an organization’s performance.

Pros

Has cut down on our paper trail. It's good having all the HR documents uploaded in one place that can be accessed by employees.

Cons

Little to no customer support. All correspondence must be by email which is slow and ineffective. EH changed to a 'pay-for-support' arrangement after our company had already signed up - so the appealing point of difference that made EH stand out is now gone. The platform is expensive and can only be paid for by direct debit - which would be okay if invoicing was accurate and correct. We are now looking at other platforms but it's a bit like deciding you want a different breed of puppy after you've house-trained the first one.

Great software let down by appalling customer service. They took forever to implement, do not answer the phone, and take a long time to respond to email tickets.

Very easy to use and has some great features. Great integration with company process and policy. Integrates well with Clock-me-in app and the EH mobile app is easy to use.

Cons

Does not manage attendance of salaried employees well, and adds time/attendance to their salary unless manually adjusted each payrun.

The training has some good videos available. Customer support was good once they got back to me.

Cons

I saved so much money not needing to do up employment contracts, and all the time I save as a small business owner is invaluable!

Pros

In small & medium businesses the likelihood of affording a full time HR Manager is slim to none! But with Employement Hero one is barely needed! I love the employee engagement surveys, the reminders when someone reaches probation end, the simple onboarding.... no paper forms, no tax dec forms!! Not to mention the awesome benefits and discounts my team and I receive!

Cons

It’s really only the limitation on a seamless approach to choosing a superfund that lets it down a little, but against all other things that it saves you time on, no big deal!

Timesheets are all cloud based and streamlined, no more paper.
The review section is going to be great for us once implemented
Having all of our policies in 1 place and accessible by all from anywhere.

Pros

It is user friendly and makes gives me more time top focus on other objectives. Our workforce is spread out across Victoria so it makes it easier to keep in contact with everyone.

Cons

It would be great if we could have our staff be able to submit claims and reimbursements when submitting their timesheets.
Also the app needs a little more work. ie: Can't amend a timesheet on the app and would be great if we could send a note out to everyone or specific staff using only the app.

Document control of company policies, record keeping of HR documents, leave management etc. Tasks traditionally took many hours are now done paperless and there'll be no argument that the employees have not received documents.

Cons

Understanding 'variables' in the contract template was a little hard because I couldn't find answers by going through 'Help' or manager's manual. I was preparing a contract for one of managers and it kept revering to my position/my name instead of the manager's. Once I figured out why it was doing that, it was all fine but perhaps this needs to be added to user's manual. One thing I'd like to have in EH platform is a new employee to acknowledge that he/she received an induction. I know I can assign induction tasks to my team members but from what I can see, there's no area for the new employee to acknowledge that he/she received the induction. So I'm still getting a paper checklist signed by the new employee and uploading the record.

I am happy with the support and their response. Though I always receive a preliminary email saying my request will be escalated to a senior customer support agent. I would prefer receiving my answer straight away. But it is an easy to use and dynamic platform. Love the add ons with the shopping, wellness program and money advice.

Pros

Cons

Some features like the reviews could be more organised. When you create some reviews they are neither organised by name nor chronologically. That would be my main and only pain point

Employment Hero was initially utilised to track and record annual leave. We have expanded to include policy and procedures.

Pros

Employment Hero offers full suite of employee solutions from leave tracking to a central place to store policy and procedures for ease of access. Easy to use and accessable. Now with the ability to offer employees discounts through the Hero shop

The intergration between Employment Hero and Myob can sometimes be problematic.

Employment process and document matters are managed online, tasks are allocated and reminders are built in. Its all at your fingertips, easy to use and it’s a real time saver.

Pros

I can deal with leave and other team requests from mobile, with ease, at any time.

Cons

There isn’t anything I don’t like anymore. Recent software upgrades/updates to the mobile app added a function that I could only access from the full site.

My overall experience with Employment Hero has been fantastic. Previously HR used to be a nightmare, especially in regards to leave. Employment Hero has simplified everything for us and as a manager and a user I am very impressed.

Pros

The software is easy to use and has made my life as a manager much easier, especially in regards to the HR elements.

Whilst it took some time to initially create a profile, I have never looked back!!!!!!!

We feel EH is aligned with our Group core values and assists to develop a strong workplace culture. Its ease of access provides us the ability to communicate with all of our employees at anytime. It really makes Payroll and On-boarding easy.

Pros

We like the On-boarding experience EH provides new employees joining our group. The Employee Self Service enables them 24hr access that notifies manages and payroll of any request and/or changes.

Cons

We are the 4th largest privately owned Automotive Group in Australia and would like to see EH integrate with our DMS and this option isn't currently available.

Since moving to EH we have improved our on-boarding process, and staff inductions are now more comprehensive and more efficient.
The timesheets and Clock me In features allow employees to easily and quickly record their hours in just a couple of clicks, saving time for them, their manager and for payroll.

Pros

Employees are readily and easily accessing their files and up to date HR information directly.

Cons

Some features could be further improved, such as being able to maintain and update documents directly on EH.

Employment Hero has made general HR tasks a breeze. Sending contracts, policies and procedures etc is so quick and easy, the reporting and tracking saves a lot of time.

As a system , I am very happy. The HR platform allows me to keep my policies and procedures in one place, is transparent to all staff and I am comforted to know that it is legally complaint. The payroll system is fantastic. The pay slips are comprehensive, illuminating ambiguity and keeping staff satisfaction high. I have no problem recommending the system to any SME owner who has a desire to govern their business properly.

Pros

Stable platform, it works and is simple for staff to comply with

Cons

The platform represents a new paradigm of online HR processes. Understanding how the system works takes a lot of time and constant revision. Obviously people learn by different styles and methods, but I felt that having a person to talk through important issues like payroll and performance reviews is important. The strategy to have all phone calls a pay only service is myopic. It may be more profitable for EH but it undervalues to importance of the client.

Employment Hero appears to have taken the Apple approach of starting with the end user in mind and focusing on the customer experience rather than create the technology and people having to adjust to the technology. I like that I have made some suggestions for additional functionality regarding visibility of annual leave calendars over multiple departments which they had taken on board and rolled out in a software update. There was no additional cost to us and then all users get the advantage of the improvements. Like wise, when other users make suggestions that they take on board, we get access to the additional functionality. It is good that there is only one platform of Employment Hero that they need to support.

Cons

Very happy with the software. The timeliness of support was slower than expected initially, but I think this is due to growing pains and the rapid growth of Employment Hero.
