One of the most functional and developed software for research based laboratories
The software is extremely useful for research laboratories and offers a wide variety of tools to navigate lab processes and workflows within my department. Although, it could be highly complex to design and build the infrastructure, the software would be a great addition to any research based organization.
Pros
When working at a research laboratory, finding a software that measures productivity and include tools that allows the department to custom and view queries, process flows and most importantly entering data for sample's annotations and patient registries. The integration of this software to the department has been very helpful and we have even expanded the use to enter patient's data to build patient's registries and visualize the data analysis of the information entered into the software. I strongly believe that from a user perspective, this software provides the adequate tools for research laboratories or any organization looking for a tool to organize and collaborate on workflows and datasets for a project.
Cons
From a user perspective, I strongly believe that this software can be very complex to use and specifically to build the infrastructure of each specific project. Moreover, in the case of my department, we have a specific staff member in charge of building, designing and modifying the infrastructure of the software to better meet the project's aims.

LabVantage a Data black hole
I think this is a good product but needs some thought on tools and features for better reporting and application integration.
Pros
LabVantage is a web-based product that is very customizable. It is flexible and allows for custom queries, views, process flows, etc. From a user perspective, it is amazing and worth the money. It even has tools for better understanding the underlying data architecture.
Cons
LabVantage is a data black hole. You can put data in but you must spend a LOT of time deciphering the tables, columns, and application architecture or work with a consultant to build your views from the very start to have any hope of getting your data back out of this application. From an enterprise perspective, it is difficult to connect to other systems due to its complexity.
