Moodle Review

Pros

From the view of a student, Moodle is an excellent way to find class materials such as lectures, notes, homeworks, practice tests, and other forms in an easily accessible way. Within specific classes, the materials are often organized by date making it easy to find what you're looking for. The software also displays grades and can help you keep track of class progress. Additionally, online homework can be submitted through the website, minimizing the amount of different softwares students need to download per class. From the point of view of a teaching assistant, Moodle is user friendly when entering grades for individual assignments. Graders can comment on a student's performance which is helpful and the grading page is easy to navigate and straight forward.

Cons

When participating in forums through Moodle, there were sometimes issues viewing other students' posts or writing posts yourself. Additionally, the website is only as useful as the professor makes it, so without professor involvement, many of the site's features are not utilized. Additionally, the mobile version of the software could be improved for better ease of use.

Moodle: open-source Virtual Learing Environment

Have used our customised and student-record-intergrated Moodle system for a number of years and experience has steadily imprvoved as developers refine and update the sytem and its functionality.

Pros

Once set up, really easy to create courses and organise content. Has the essential tools for learning online: assessments, assignments, feedback and much more. Standard plugins work well.

Cons

Inline help could be improved. Troublehooting sometimes tricky. Error messages and warnings could be more helpful. Some of the settings design and layout also.

The best LMS out there, the most difficult to optimise user flows

Pros

This truly is the best LMS I have ever used and in my years of consulting on the software I found it extremely difficult to implement and pass on to end users, however when champions used it properly it truly does transform classrooms.

Cons

There is no doubt about it, this is one of the most clunky UX experiences you will have both as administrator, teacher or user. It requires lots of training to get the most out of the product and most teachers I see using it are maybe using 5% of its capabilities.

Easy and Reliable

Moodle also offers various options and tools. For me as an instructor it is very easy to communicate with students and students also get very easy to communicate with other students.

Pros

Moodle uploads different types of content formats for use by students and instructors. Moodle not only enables online or remote learning but also makes resources available to students in instructor-led classes.

Cons

Not fully developed to accommodate large projects.
