Does a lot.
Good overall. The one other thing I would like to mention is that you can’t get a live help from Tech support in real time. You can “attend” virtual classes, sign up for live classes (which I haven’t done. Time thing) and if you have a question, you can submit it to a chat community (not helpful, not enough docs so they responses are non-relevant) or you submit an email to technical support and they write back. Here’s the catch. You have to respond to their response right away or if you miss the 2; hour window they consider your request “satisfied” and they move in. My suggestion would be to hire more live real time tech support. And if you want to add physicians, consider adding eprescribe and a lab interface. Just my suggestions. There are lots of reasons to not cater to doctors, but if Simple Practice would want to do that, a few small fixes could make this a very usable and more complete package.
PROSNice and plain in a lot of ways yet let’s you do these things: Set up your own intake forms, diagnostic codes, billing forms, scheduling, a secure patient portal so when patients contact you, you can send them a secure link they can use to sign your consent forms, pay you using a credit card which you don’t have to handle, schedule a session, and do a telehealth visit in a secure HIPAA compliant way. There is also a way to do billing so bills can be submitted to an insurance company.
CONSSimple practice is designed for mental health professionals and non-MD’s mainly, so as a psychiatrist, it does MOST but NOT ALL of the things I need for a telepsych practice. For example, I cannot e-prescribe, order labs or review lab results using simple practice. But that’s okay. They never claimed it could be used for this. So I am still getting off the ground with my own practice and will probably just use some work arounds such as writing paper scripts for now, and this is fine unless I get a patient who needs clozaril, lithium or delante, at which time I will need to get lab ordering and reviewing capabilities from somewhere else. So the thing is this. Simple Practice does a lot of things. For a psychotherapist non-prescriber, it would pretty much do everything you could ever want a platform to do. For a psychiatrist, it hits about 2/3 of the total function domain needed. For internal medicine, family medicine or endocrinology I would definitely recommend doing something else. They make no claims to physician specific and the main reason I picked it is for the telehealth and the billing simplification and the collect payment without touching money feature.

Reliable, but pricey
Consistent, reliable, but feels like I’m on my own when I encounter questions/issues.
PROSEverything is in one place, and easy to use. The platform is reliable (I don’t use the telehealth feature), and straightforward.
CONSThat I have to pay the highest tier price simply because I wanted to keep calendar syncing. I don’t use the telehealth, and everything else was available under the mid tier price. Also, you can never actually talk with customer service, everything has to be searched in their FAQ sections.
Reason for choosing SimplePractice
At the time, it was more affordable, recommended, and I received a discount from the referral.

Avoid at all costs, very poor support and prices, rising all the time for no reason
I'll pay to use another platform no matter white
PROSThis is the worst, you can't even get support from a human, they force you to do everything online and this is a huge waste of time. They are saving incredible amount of money by doing this, and not passing any of that savings onto the customer while raising prices.
CONSThe most expensive out there, and they keep raising their prices and providing fewer options.

The best option in town
I love it, especially with all of their new improvements.
PROSThey have a very easy to use format. They have all of the features needed for an individual private practice. And they have been enhancing their features to complement smaller group practices.
CONSCustomer service is in another part of the country, so the time zone is off by a few hours. Also, there is no human contact to consult with. Everything must be done electronically until it is escalated to a email chat then virtual call.
Reason for choosing SimplePractice
It seemed more well known, and it had more reviews and customers.

Simple Does It
It's great compared to others I've used. Love the calendar feature where it syncs with my Google calendar. Love the reminders for client appointments and how they can manage their own appointments.
CONSA lot of tabs to click on. There's not a way to filter through the application itself if I just want information on one client.
Reasons for switching to SimplePractice
It was a very unfriendly user experience and you had to pay per user. Not good.

I recommended this software to my priv doc in local policlinic. He is so happy to find SimplePractice.
PROSSimplePractice reduces your workload with its fetures, ease of use, easy accessibility and simple interface and eliminates the complexity you experienced before. Awesome software
CONSThis might be little bit cheaper. That pricing could be felt overpaying to some little businesses.

Good choice for behavioral and mental health electronic health records.
SimplePractice is a really good tool for maintaining behavioral health practices and has been very helpful in keeping a track of my reminders and appointments. Especially the easy and seamless mobile access is just that is very much helpful.
PROSThe things that i like the most would include the appointments reminders that are very helpful. In addition the therapy notes is also very helpful and easy to access too. The medical billing is also very smooth and seamless. Calendar perfectly syncs with reminders and is very helpful.
CONSI feel data privacy is a big concern because all the records are being stored here are very personal and sensitive. The online booking also can be made even more easy because sometimes its very urgent.

Simple Practice for SLP
Overall would recommend to anyone with a small practice who is willing to put the time/effort into creating their own templates.
PROSOverall this software is very intuitive. It's relatively easy to customize and I love having my documentation in billing all in one place for such a low cost. The customer services is exceptional. Anytime I have a question I simply send a message and link and I have a helpful response within 24 hours.
CONSAs a pediatric SLP, I have had to create my own templates for pretty much everything due to insurance requirements and the nature of my assessment and treatment. This can be time consuming for sure. I would love to be able to use the telehealth software, but I really need to be able to give the kids remote control in order to keep them engaged and as far as I know that isn't a feature at this point. The billing can get confusing, but the customer service has been incredibly helpful with this and I feel it's mostly due to the complexity of the billing for that client more so than the software.
Reason for choosing SimplePractice

Reasons for switching to SimplePractice
Started my own (single provider) practice and found Simple Practice to be much more affordable and intuitive.

Used to be great, but recent bad business practices and rate increases for less features.
My overall experience has been fine. However, I'm extremely disappointed with recent decisions and practices of Simple Practice. They recently emailed users notifying them of plan and pricing changes, asking customers to select a new plan before March to ensure access to their account. However, they were NOT clear that selecting a new plan before March would incur a prorated cost for the difference in plan price. They also took away basic features on the lower two tiers and made them available only on the top tier plan. I am a single clinician with one biller and am forced to use the most expensive option, resulting in a 68% rate increase without warning. These two moves are unethical, and frankly, extremely poor customer service.
PROSI appreciate the user interface on the website and app. It's easy to use and pretty intuitive. I enjoy being able to create custom forms and send text reminders to clients. The setup for a new client is quick and I'm able to send all required paperwork with ease.
CONSSome of the options on the app are limited, such as being able to see claims (payments/adjustments) and a few things are hard to find, such as adding an insurance card to existing insurance (it's there, you just have to dig a bit). On the website, the claims can be a bit clunky to click through, as well as some things feeling redundant. I also dislike that you can't set the calendar appointments to auto generate a specific appointment time (the default is always 50 minutes and I have to change that manually each time). Also, customer service is extremely lacking. There's not an easy way to get to speak with a real person for issues.
Reasons for switching to SimplePractice
I changed from a group practice to a solo practice.

Expensive but (almost) worth it
SimplePractice is very good software for mental health. However, all the options and features lead to complexity. This isn't necessarily bad design - it's simply that there are so many things the software does that there is a lot to learn. Even if you're good with software, implementing the whole package in the condensed time frame required for starting up means that there are times when you'd love to talk with a support rep. It's not that it isn't physically possible to speak to a live person about using the software. It's that by the time you actually hear from a live person, you've either solved it on your own through hours of your own labor, found a work-around, or decided not to use the feature you needed help with.
PROSRobust and configurable. Every feature I can think of, that a mental health practitioner might need, is part of this product. Every part of your practice is configurable, from intake documents to discharge documents. Credit card processing? Yes. Online scheduling? Check (it even produces code for your website, so you can have people book appointments directly from your website). Revenue summaries? Yes. Client attendance reporting? Yes, that too. This review isn't the place to make a comprehensive list of features - but it is the the place to make the point that the feature list is comprehensive.
CONSSimplePractice offers different pricing tiers, so you can use as much of the software as you're willing to pay for. But, IMnsHO, what's the point of choosing the most robust software if you're not going to use the high-end (expensive) option? So, I pay (as of this writing) $99/mo to use the software. You'd think that princely sum would enable the occasional conversation with a support team member. It may, but I haven't been able to see how to do it. Have a look at the SimplePractice website and see if you can find a number to call for support. I could not. To be fair, they have a large number of videos which clearly explain how to use the software. They're very good, especially if you know which video you need to watch. Bottom line is when you're working a bunch of hours, stressed by carrying a full case load, trying to implement this very comprehensive software, you could use a friendly hand on the phone with set-up. At least, I could. Instead, I got (best case) 48 hour turnaround to emailed questions. For $99/mo, I feel like I should be able to call them now and again.
Reasons for switching to SimplePractice
TherapyNotes is good software, and much less expensive. Additionally, if you're doing pro-bono work, they give you a better break on the monthly fee. Moreover, they offer much better support. The problem is that the software simply isn't as robust and flexible as SimplePractice.

Best Scope of Functionality for Price Out There
I love all that I can do with Simple Practice. I was looking for a service that can house my client documents for my in-person private practice, teletherapy practice, and coaching business all in one. It makes the onboarding/intake process for new clients so streamlined and easy. It's so nice to have one less thing to worry about as a new small business owner. Customer support has been excellent. It feels great knowing I'll have help if I need it for something so essential to my business.
CONSSometimes it's not that simple to use! But I think it speaks more to the breadth of options available than to the software itself. There's so much I could do with it, at times it is overwhelming.
Reason for choosing SimplePractice
The great things I've heard about Simple Practice, having experience with it in the group practice I work for and knowing its ease of use.
Reasons for switching to SimplePractice
I wanted a service that had both telehealth and an EHR system. I didn't want to switch services later.

Satisfied with Current Services and Optimistic about Future Improvements
The primary reason I am using Simple Practice is for the insurance billing capabilities so I can make my life easier and not hire a biller.
PROSI love the overnight billing with auto-pay and the entirely digital intake and consent forms.
CONSI have encountered issues when trying to create insurance claims. Additionally, it is a bit pricey considering the fact that many of the offered services can be achieved through GSuite for $6 a month for HIPAA protected documentation and intake forms, and through Square Appointments (a service that comes free when Square is utilized for fee collection).
Reason for choosing SimplePractice
Better reviews from other private practitioners, positive experience with 30 day free trial.
Reasons for switching to SimplePractice
I switched from Square and G suite once I got credentialed by insurance panels, as I needed to start billing insurance. Additionally, G suite was not created for private practice so it was a little chaotic and very DIY (and disorganized) and Square's hardware malfunctioned when WIFI signals were not strong - and charged 3.5% to manually charge without the card present.
