Working with RecDesk has helped us streamline the registration process for our staff and customers.

PROS

The ease of use. It is intuitive to use, which makes training new staff super easy. It is also simple for our customers to use the community portal. The staff and the consumers love that once their household information is saved it makes registration simple and quick. Our staff loves everything about the software. We are constantly impressed with the new features that are added on a regular basis. Often we'll be wishing for an improvement on something and before we can ask about it they make it happen! We are so happy we chose RecDesk over it's competitors! They can't be beat for customer service and price!

CONS

The only thing I don't like about the software is people can create multiple profiles. I wish there was a way it recognized a person's email or mailing address and alerted them they already have a profile with us.

Easy yet Precise!

Phenomenal! Thank you for the kindness and the fabulous product!

PROS

Easy, Easy, Easy! Everything is easy once set up it established. Learning the system is literally a breeze. I love the 'Resources' (how-to lookup) tab which is always visible when using RecDesk. Customer Service is AMAZING! Everyone is super friendly and everyone is willing to share all their knowledge.

CONS

Setting up Bulk Email Campaigns is easy; however, you have to enter a different 'campaign' every time you'd like to send an email. You can schedule ahead, but, I do hope a 'copy' function is added in this module to easily re-announce the programs (i.e.: registration ends soon, registration ends tomorrow, etc.).

Ease in navigating and manipulating the product/modules; everything is 'at-a-glance' and the short-cuts built in to each page is a fabulous toggling tool!

Reasons for switching to RecDesk

Previous administration was not pleased with the functionality. I never delved into SportsEngine so I can't say for sure the downfalls.

Rec Desk helped us track facility usage and improve our recreation programs!

Rec Desk has allowed us to track our financial impact of our recreation programs more accurately and honestly. We believe our recreation program has grown drastically because we now have online registration. We have even been able to add an adult pickleball league because Rec Desk makes it so easy to register and communicate with participants and coaches!

PROS

We can now allow online sign up for programs and accept credit/debit card payments! We love the built-in POS service for our concessions. It also allows us to track the usage of our facilities much better than the membership database software that we had previously. We have also been able to transition to online reservations for all of our rental facilities, which saves so much time and paperwork and eliminates human error as well as the amount of cash changing hands.

CONS

It does not allow for us to check member in and out when using our facilities. It would be nice to be able to track how long people are staying, but it definitely is not high on our priority list. It would also be nice to be able to edit a series of classes more easily. I recently had to delete an entire class (that takes place 6 times a week) and re-enter it just to change one thing I had done incorrectly. My biggest "complaint" is that we cannot use all of the Rec Desk features for our pickleball league. We can use it for registration and to set up the initial bracket, but beyond that, it will not work for pickleball because of how you score the players. They play doubles, but their scores are individual. I don't know if there is a way to fix this. It is a rather unique sport in terms of scoring and bracketing. I wish we could DELETE members rather than ARCHIVE them. Because we can register people on site (at our Rec Center) and people can also register online (when they register for a league/program) we have had several duplicate members created. It would be nice to be able to eliminate all of those archived members at some point. I imagine it is adding to the data that we pay for annually and it is taking up space on your server.

Reason for choosing RecDesk

It came highly recommended by other users, we preferred how it looked on the user side (much easier to navigate intuitively), and seemed to suit our needs better overall.

Overall, its a great system for registrations and scheduling. The customers find it very easy to use.

PROS

This software is by far the easiest software for new staff to learn quickly. With so many part timers, and a high level of seasonal and part time turnover, its important that the basic functions be easy to learn and figure out. Its the most intuitive software to use on an admin level, and our customers also find it to be easy to figure out. The basics are basic enough for new staff to figure out.

CONS

Once you become proficent in the basics, the more advanced functions are convoluted and could be cleaner. We dislike the Export to Excel, would prefer a report that generates a PDF. In the export, it creates a list and you have to remove categories in excel, instead of being able to toggle the desired categories in the system before generating the report. When data entering programs, we would like a report to confirm what was inputted instead of having to go through each tab individually. When creating programs, its frustrating to have to keep saving on every tab and also every individual date that it added. We want to do payment plans but it doesn't let you mass enroll into a payment plan, you have to individually set it up for each registration. Once parents put in their own emergency forms, they cannot go back in and update the information without registering for another program.

Reason for choosing RecDesk

price, customer service, RecDesk's willingness to hear us and meet our requests. It didn't feel like we had to fit their system, but more like they wanted to hear us and fit what we needed.

RecTrac was very confusing and not web based.

Pool Membership

RecDesk makes my job a lot easier by putting the data entry on the members.

PROS

It's so much easier than using our old system. It's more user friendly and it's easier to navigate through the system

CONS

Certain reports we were able to generate on our old system are not available or you need to run multiple reports to generate the same information. Made some requests for these changes.

Ease of use and cost of the program. Customer support is great! Emails are answered quickly and followed up with a phone call, if necessary.

Reasons for switching to RecDesk

The cost for a cloud based program with them was expensive and the program was more than what we needed for our daily operation

RecDesk has changed our department for the better.

Excellent! Customer service is great and the accessibility to the product from any device is critical.

PROS

The flex calendar, online payments and independent member creation have reduced the number of calls, emails and other questions we get on a daily basis. It has made it so much simpler for our customers to sign up for our programs or rent our facilities.

CONS

Only issue we've had is the lack of a practice scheduler. Also we'd like a little more detailed game scheduling system.

RecDesk Daily User

Love it and any time we need help, customer service is quick, friendly and knowledgeable! Always top-notch!

PROS

It is very easy to use and very easy to train new employees on it!

CONS

It would be helpful if members could not create duplicate accounts. We have some people with 5+ different accounts and it's time consuming to merge accounts so that families only have one account.

I really do NOT like that our patrons can't make partial payments on their rentals and/or sports fees if they are paying online at home or on the go.

It has been EXCELLENT from the sales people to the trainers to the customer support it has been fabulous. I have nothing but good things to say about the team there at RecDesk. They are very quick to respond and always a wealth of knowledge. It feels like we are their only client the attention that we get when we need it. I would and have recommended RecDesk to everyone that asks about what we use. It is a great product and the team you have behind it makes it even better.

PROS

It is very easy to use. We have a lot of turnover in our front desk staff with them being high school students. It is very easy to train them on how to use the system and they catch on very quickly. We are also able to offer online payments for those that do not live in town. We also can allow for automatic renewal if a patron chooses to use that option. It is very easy to keep organized with all the programs we run and the numerous reports we can run helps us with budgeting at the end of the year. We can also evaluate our programs based on profit and the number of users in each program.

CONS

We use the system for camping reservations and it does not work exactly how we would like but it gets the job done.

The ease of use to start with. It also had everything we needed to use without a lot of extras we would never use. I feel like we paid a good price for an excellent product. Plus the sales staff and those who showed us the demo were above and beyond. I knew that not only the product was going to be good but the support system would be too.

RecDesk for county park district

I appreciate the automation RecDesk offers our staff, our customers, and my personal work load.

PROS

A RecDesk employee walked our park staff through an elaborate training process, and we felt very cared for as we implemented RecDesk. Now that is it up and running, I appreciate the versatility of the software and that it allows a mostly hands off experience to manage program registration, shelter reservation, and payment. Although RecDesk still seems robust, I find my way around the software and accomplish the task.

CONS

Sometimes I feel lost in a big city. An analogy for being stumped with a task. But if I end up in the wrong direction, RecDesk doesn't break. I can fix it, or use the Help, or ask my coworker team.

Wonderful for our city to organize parks and rec, a youth center, and an arts center all in one place!

It has been great overall I have to say. We really needed a way to offer credit card sales both in person and online to our patrons and this has worked seamlessly. Soon we are going to add a Sparxo account that will connect to our RecDesk for ticket sales. Now that the arts center is fully open we are ready to use this function by offering tickets online for shows.

PROS

I appreciate the ability I have to schedule events in multiple facilities inside of the arts center, they can overlap, and being able to both print the calendar and export the events into different files is essential. The POS system has been essential for the arts center, we now use it for every event we hold to sell merchandise and concessions.

CONS

In the reports tab, I would really like to have a report for option for POS only. There are times I simply need a report of the POS sales without any of the other data. Sometimes it takes a while for me to locate certain items because there are so many tabs at the top. Perhaps narrowing down those top tabs into more subcategories would be more helpful for me personally.

2 Years with RecDesk

We’ve gone completely paper free in the last two years. The administration portion of my job has gone from 90% paperwork to 40% and most of that entails running reports.

PROS

RecDesk is very easy to use for a one person department—features are manageable, yet quick and easy enough to set a program up within 5 minutes and get it published.

CONS

I really, truly wish, that the registration process was easier for my residents. I’ve had many complaints that the process is too time consuming and they just call me to have me do it. I also wish that the program wouldn’t allow residents to register for more than one program at the same time scheduled.

The customer service was exceptional and this program was the easiest to manage on a small budget. I am the first director the department has had.

RecDesk works perfectly for our Department's needs!

We have very pleased with the ease of this product, and our residents/ participants love the convenience and flexibility it has brought for registering for our department's programs and events.

PROS

It is easy to train staff on how to use it, if we have a question it's answered in a very timely manner, there is no cost for upgrades, and we get emails or pop-ups announcing new modules or upgrades.

CONS

When we move a participant to a new program their forms disappear, and for new participants they sometimes find the category selection on their "view" homepage to be a challenge.

My RecDesk Review

I have been using it for just over 6 months and I do struggle from time to time looking for what I need, and often times I need to tell the customer or member to be patient with me because at times I needed to go through several other steps to get to what I wanted.

PROS

I like that I am able to see and provide information for our members when they ask.

CONS

It takes going through several steps sometimes to get the results I want.

Recdesk is the most user friendly software behind the scenes & for our customers.

PROS

How easy it is to use, it took me less than a few days when I started the job to get the hang of it & it's very easy to go back & fix a mistake.

CONS

That we can't edit the webpage as much as we used to do. (i.e. flyers on the front page). We like to promote upcoming events & we can't do that anymore.

CONS

The portal or website that public see is not very user friendly. The only other thing is if we could go back and use program code numbers again. I look at a lot of rec data programs I still think Re Desk is best.

The system is easy to learn. New users can be comfortable with the system in a matter of days - no long, drawn out process to learn, no numbering systems for programs, etc.

CONS

We have found the software to be very user-friendly and on the rare occasion that we have encountered issues, Customer Support has been outstanding.

We have been using RecDesk for several years now and I can't find anything bad to say about it.

Being able to view and schedule facilities anytime from any computer or phone and being able to receive credit card payments. Our customers love this, they can sign-up from home on nights or weekends.

PROS

Very user friendly for the staff and customers. All park and program schedules are available to view and reserve anytime.

RecDesk for Pickens Parks and Recreation

My overall experience with RecDesk has been pleasant. On a scale of 1 through 10, I would give it an 8.

PROS

RecDesk has tremendously helped us with registration, scheduling, and making things easier for our community. Having the ability to take online registration and payments has made for easier and more participants within our programs.

CONS

So far, the only issue I have run into is sending out bulk emails. Sometimes the system and my email do not like to work together and can make for sending the emails complicated.

So far so good!

Great! [sensitive content hidden] and the crew are a pleasure to work with. Very responsive and understanding of our needs. So far so good on our end!

PROS

Support has been exemplary. Ease of use also ranks up there. Love the ‘wishlist’ feature. RecDesk certainly delivered on one of our wishes.

CONS

A work in progress is our drop in credit classes, doesn’t seem to track and monitor when punches get low. Facility parameters seem tricky.
