Over all would recommend as it does the job
PROSReporting is good, able to keep track of who owes money. Ease of use
CONSLittle on the expensive side - along with the subscription each year it comes at a cost. Purchased the network edition but now it won't communicate with the database and don't want to uninstall in case the backup doesn't work.

Its good, wont switch, but it could be better.
PROSEasy to keep track of pets and clients, easy to keep notes on pets and clients.
CONSLimited capabilites w/o spending more money to customize, ie reports, changing input fields, etc. New updates take away features that were useful in the past. System is a little pricey, especially for the renewal for multiple computers

Hi Jennifer, thank you for your review and we're happy to have you as a customer for 7+ years :-) Just want to clarify some of the items you have listed however: - customizing reports does not cost you anything! There's a complete report editor built in to PetLinx. Adding new custom fields for you will of course invoke a cost as it involves development time for us. - Not sure which features you are referring to, to our knowledge we have not removed any features and have added many since you have been with us. - Your annual support and updates payment is only $229, which includes unlimited phone, email, and remote support as well as software updates with new features. We believe this compares very favorably with competitor pricing. Happy to discuss any of these in more detail through our normal contact methods :-).

There are a lot of updates that could be & someone in the industry should be consulted
used as our schedule for bookings
PROSlayout and colorful design and ability to add multiple employees to the calendar as well as the right click and drop down boxes i also like that it integrates so well with cayan also the ability to make dtailed groom notes on every dog
CONSunable to split tips between a bather and groomer on the same transaction a handful of technical glitches and i feel like an industry professional should be consulted on future updates

Simple, stable and reliable !
We were looking for a simple but modern software for our boarding, we live in France and we found many sharewares, many outdated softwares that use old technology and without support. Then we tried PetLinx, we we're a little afraid to use an US program because US is not our main language but we were pleased to see that a French translation is provided. Installation is really easy and the software is updated regulary, really simple to use but powerfull, without fancy gadgets that may overload the software.
PROS-Updates, this software is updated regulary -Tech support is really fast and open to suggestions to improve the software -Really stable -Simple and fast to use, i can add a new client and reservation in less than 1mn -Report builder is powerfull -Full demo version available
CONS-French translation can be better (but useable) -The main view (calendar) may be more customisable (eg box1,box2 with blue background color, box3,box4 with green background color ..)

Petlinx AAA+++
I started using Petlinx 2 or 3 in 2008, after a rocky start due to my lack of knowledge of computers and how they work I found Petlinx staff to be most helpful and always fast to respond to my questions and problems. I have just upgraded to Petlinx 5 and couldn't be happier, Having Petlinx in my salon has made a huge difference to my workload with me being able to download reports for my accountant as well as day to day tasks, stocktake is much easier as well, I love it:)
PROSEasy to use, upgrades fix little things as the program evolves
CONSI would like to be able to delete or move a vendor or vet, for example if they close down or are no longer required into a seperate file so that the lists are showing currently used/needed entries

Pampered Puppies Review
Overall very good experience. Like the fact that you have the option of purchasing the software instead of being forced to have a monthly subscription.
PROSI like the ease of making bookings, adding new clients, and adding their pets.
CONSIt would be nice if there was a way to create an invoice or ticket for services or items purchased without having to create a boarding invoice. As it stands now it is difficult or impossible to modify an invoice after completion. We have clients pay at time of drop off. Sometimes after they have paid they may decide they want some of our extras or have forgotten to add something.

Thanks for your review Jeff. You can use the "Retail Sales" section of an invoice to charge a customer without creating a booking. And we will soon be enhancing the invoicing system to relax the rules around modifying an existing invoice, to make it easier to adjust charges :-).

Petlinx. A user friendly, practical and multi functional database.
We have used Petlinx for many years after using the trial period. It has become and extremely useful tool for our business and has stood up to the growth that our company has experienced without failure. We have found the platform very easy to use and training our staff to use the system has always been easy. The regular updates are excellent and keep the program up to speed. Support is reliable, although its great to be able to say that its not often that it is required as the program runs so well it there is little need for the assistance!

Petlinx software review
PetLinx has enabled us to reduce our paper-based records; we can now generate pen cards with all the information we require. Support (when rarely required) has been timely and effective.
PROSThe cost; the fact the system can be configured by the end user; the features.
CONSReports are tricky to tailor when you are not familiar with report writing/configuration. Some of the payment/invoicing processes don't match our business model.

PetLinx for Dog Groomers
PetLinx have saved me so much time on administration. It's very user friendly and if I travel, I simply make a back-up from my desktop computer and I can still book clients on my laptop. I won't use any other software.
PROSPetLinx is really easy to use. What I like most about this software is the fast variety of jobs I can do with it. It reschedules the appointment times to my customer's individual needs; I can enter as much information on each dog as I need to. It's truly a GREAT system and makes my admin so much better
CONSI cannot find anything that I don't like about this software.

First class software and support, and it has consistently met all my needs for running my business.
It makes my life so much easier, try organising 16 kennels on a daily basis without it when customers are constantly changing dates, no thanks give me Petlinx any day.
PROSThe developer is constantly updating and improving the software. If I have a problem the response is first rate, especially given the time difference, NZ - UK. It meets all my needs in terms of kennel allocation, invoicing and accounts management.
CONSI cannot change the margins when I am printing a hard copy of the calendar. Inconsequential really in the big scheme of things.

Mobile Pet Grooming
The ability to manage my business, keep calendar in sync.
PROSThe application is easy to follow, somewhat idiot proof, a bit more than we really need and some parts we don't use.
CONSI would prefer to update records immediately, in some cases that's not easy, when I reopen the application there are generally allot of updates to close out.

Pet friendly!
I find Petlinx very easy to use and have been very impressed with the updates that appear after we have flagged a feature that we would like to see added in. The support has been fantrastic from Laurence and his team!

It was easy to figure out without having to watch tutorials.
That there is not a monthly fee to use software and you purchase it. There are monthly installments available too which is nice because money a lot of times is pretty scarce when just starting up a business.
CONSCan't change invoices if you mess up on it at all. Good for keeping employees honest but should have administrative override with a password or something.

Overall good quality
Hard to get fluid in using it, especially entering in bulk data. Seems like it does a lot that I don't know about or make use of but is just too confusing to play with. Was also disappointed the email confirmation for customer appointments was not automatic.
PROSGrooming specific
CONSCan't change the order of customer/pet/grooming information. For example, I don't take vaccination records so a lot of room wasted. Would like to be able to customize that space with things that are important to me.

Petlinx allows us to run our cattery smoothly and efficiently. Standard emails are quick and easy to send and keep us in contact with customers.

PetLinx Review.
Overall I thought the customer service has been great. We haven't been able to really use Petlinx to its full potential yet but when we finally switch over I am confident it will meet our needs.
PROSIt is customizable to your needs and the customer service has been very helpful.
CONSTook a little time to get used to. We're still working on how to set up diet sheets like we'd like them.
Reason for choosing PetLinx
I chose PetLinx because it was one of only a few pet service products that offered a desktop option rather than through the internet.
Reasons for switching to PetLinx
Kennel Suite is no longer supported and can not be transferred to updated windows system.

We switched to Proper and won't switch back.
PROSIt seems to have alot of features that we would have liked to explore but the basics were not user friendly
CONSCustomer Service was almost impossible to reach due to them being based in New Zealand. It was expensive for what we used it for and it had no customer interface to book online. It was not user friendly and it took up SLOT of payroll to support our reservations.

Hi Tasley, I'm mystified as to why you have decided to review us just now considering it's been over 2 years since you cancelled your subscription! In response to your "cons"...we provide local support numbers for support, email support, and a Facebook user's group where other expert users can offer advice. Our prices are very competitive and are comparable with Propet, if not cheaper. We do indeed have an online customer booking portal. Most feedback we receive indicates that our software is intuitive and very user friendly, however we would have been happy to provide a free online training session to you to help with the areas you were stuck on, as we do for all customers. Not sure what you mean by "took up lots of payroll to support our reservations"? Sorry it didn't work out, but best wishes and good luck with your new software.

Makes managing my kennels so easy
After trialling 6 different kennel management programs, I found Petlinx to have by far the most features that were important to my business. The amount of detail about pets and customers and the flexibility to easily create data lists and edit reports is fantastic. Managing bookings, customers and pets is all very easy from the main screen. Invoicing is very easy once you get used to it, but at first I found it a bit awkward when people paid a deposit or make multiple payments. My biggest problem is that I haven't been able to find a way to automatically change the rate when two dogs share a run as our runs are all the same size, so I just change it manually, but this does make the possibility of undercharging greater. All in all I think this is a fantastic program and the continual improvements that come through with the regular updates are great. Highly recommend this program to help you manage a boarding facility.

Keeps My Business Running Smoothly

No more confusion!
We love Petlinx, so easy to use! I didn't even need to read the tutorial, it was so simple. I love that you can add a picture, so there's no more confusion about who is who. Our older and younger groomers picked it up in minutes! I love the rescheduling option for our weekly clients. Figuring out comps and monthly figures are a breeze now. I was also happy it had an outright price vs. monthly fees. Also had a very affordable payment plan as well!

Greatly appreciated in setting up new business, as it had everything we need in one spot.
PROSThe Customer Support and teaching modules are highly effective.
CONSTrial does not allow you to see what will be offered upon purchasing and POS does not work for Canadian businesses.

Country Retreat for Dogs and Cats
We have tried several types of software to maintain data integrity to no avail. However this system seems better and the booking in system was a bonus and so we trialed both and are comfortable to use the booking system now.
PROSDedicated to looking after pets
CONSA bit cumbersome when booking in at the moment but may get quicker when we get used to it.
