Why we chose eBoss to become our recruitment software partner - Impeccable value & support

I write this review today for eBoss with great joy in being able to share my extremely positive and supportive experience. IRC formally SGL Resourcing has been using eBoss for the past 7 years, before committing to eBoss we tried various recruitment softwares before finding this which suits our needs perfectly. This system is very user-friendly however one thing to remember is that a database is only as good as the people inputting the data. I had to steer my team into using a CRM system designed for the work we carry out every day, I wanted to make sure the team understood the reasons and listened to what was important to them to ensure this worked for us all, fortunately eBoss covered everyones concerns which was mostly limiting administration and being able to capture information easily and swiftly. In todays age it is not as simple as leaving a voicemail and getting a returned call, the recruitment market is so competitive it means we have to have to think outside the box, luckily eBoss are on board with that idea and this is why they have implemented great functions like WhatsApp, SMS and even having skype implemented in the system works well as we have candidates abroad. eBoss come up with ways to help the end users and always want fresh ideas from their clients to make it the most efficient it can be and ever evolving. To finish off, eBoss has supported us through several changes over the years and have always been on hand to listen, great service and team!

Pros

This recruitment system really keeps changing with the times, for example when we first took on eBoss back in 2010, you didnt have todays unique features like text, Whats app, skype etc. all of this is integrated into the system with your phone and email and works perfectly. The client support is second to none, very fast turnaround to any questions. It is extremely easy to upload CVs as well as track and update candidate progress in the recruitment cycle.

Cons

Whilst I sit here and type, I find it extremely hard to pick a fault with the system however if I was going to be extremely picky I would perhaps want to see the interface a little more jazzy/personalised in terms of being able to upload larger logos and company straplines as with staff working remotely you could, in essence, change the weekly strapline to encourage more togetherness to make it more like an intranet interface.

Small Business Users for Perms recruitment

Our overall experience has been great. Over the last 3 years we have reviewed all our suppliers and changed many of them, but we haven't been remotely tempted to change Eboss. We have spoken to other sales reps and have found they weren't able to match what we have with Eboss. It was easy to you use from the start, we've seen improvements over time, the team are really personable and the system has been reliable.

Pros

Value for money, it's exactly what we needed to establish a small recruitment agency focusing on perms recruitment.

Cons

The way the system lists clients is good, but doesn't account for different branches of the same business overly well, this can be resolved by listing different contacts with different addresses, but it feels a little bulky, particularly when you're trying to remember which ones have free parking or have different requirements. The search function could be improved. Whilst you can do a radius search of a client, you have to look up their postcode and type it in and the results don't actually display the distance the candidates are from the client, which could be an issue if speed was important when filling a booking.

Reasons for Choosing eBoss

They weren't overly pushy, they came across as honest and genuine people, with a passion for their product. We have experience using a range of CRM systems, we knew what functions were vital for the business to function smoothly and which weren't. We did our research, completed trials and video conference calls and decided Eboss offered the best service without over charging us for functions we really didn't need or want.

Excellent Database

Working with eBoss is great. The database supports my business, it keeps the admin organised and as an administrator, I get an overview of everything. I like the support from the team, the back of house is excellent and always on hand. For simple Q&A, there are plenty of tutorials to read and watch, to answer small questions, that may just be a how to get around different areas, without closing pages down for example. We don't yet use eBoss to it's full capacity, we are a small agency, however, it a place of growth and as we push on, I have the confidence that eBoss is up to the task of supporting a much bigger agency, so future proofing our confidence in their system.

Pros

I like how the database works with our website. We initially paid to have the two work with one another. The help was there to develop the software required and it allows us to post a job on the system, that reproduces on the website too. Coordinating and monitoring activity is straight forward, seeing a conversation with a client, developed in to a full job spec, CV submitting, interviews, feedback, good or bad. Conversion rates etc. it's all on there to see. From a coaching perspective, the data is easy to break down, we can see where maybe too much, or too little attention has been given and as it's all very visual, consultants can see where they need training and guidance to prioritise jobs, and get the conversion rates as high as possible, reducing the time taken to fill a vacancy and keeping our clients happy with a slick service.

Cons

The system is big is probably my only 'con'. But that's probably the same with all databases, they have to cover a lot of industries, and I am mindful of that.

Old and Cluncky

eBoss was interfaced with our website through an API. At some point, the API changed (eBoss claimed it wasn't them, and our webmasters did the same). To their credit, eBoss did persist in trying to get to the root of their problem while knowing that we were shopping around for alternatives. Having said that, I will most definitely NOT recommend eBoss to anyone. Apart from the outdated product that they offer, their relationship with our webmaster was non-existent. Other suppliers used to advise them from at least 4 weeks before about any changes/new releases. But worst of all, when we decided to leave eBoss, they acted very childishly - despite that we had been clients for over 10 years! They made it very difficult for us to export our data (something which we own) and were being very petty about a simple issue of a .csv file (which maps CV documents to database record profiles). I offered numerous times to do it ourselves by they kept ignoring our requests and insisting on charging us. The situation got so bad that I had to involve our lawyers. After 10+ years of business, this is how we left eBoss!

Pros

It was an innovative, cloud-based solution 10 years ago, but it failed to keep up with the times!

Cons

The interface is very old fashioned and it is not as user-friendly as other solutions like Workable, Recruiterbox or Hire by Google. It does not interface with the G-Suite, or any social media platforms like LiknedIn and facebook.

The client had very specific requests for undertaking the export of their data. On completion of the bespoke work, the client then requested us to repeat the process - to different specifications. The reason why the customer was billed for the retrieval of their data was not, as they imply, because we were holding it hostage, but because our development team had been asked to undertake additional days of bespoke work on their behalf - and we sought to cover the costs of this (non-essential) additional work that they had requested. We are saddened by the way the professional relationship with this client ended after a decade of great successes together. We wish Mark and his team all the best in their future endeavors.
