Stripe is a cloud-based solution that offers a varied set of unified APIs and tools that enable businesses to manage and accept payments online.

Stripe handles key payment functions, such as subscriptions, storing cards and direct payouts to user bank accounts. It also offers solutions for mobile and web payments that are specially built for developers. Stripe enables businesses to accept international debit cards, credit cards and currencies.

Other key features include full-stack payments, PCI compliance, invoice paying, instant payment acceptance, shared customers and the collection of transaction fees. Stripe does not require any card storage fees, validation fees, setup fees, monthly fees or refund fees.

Stripe provides support options such as online support, a customer knowledge base and forums. Additionally, Stripe can be integrated with applications such as Shopify, FreshBooks, Zoho Invoice, Zoho Subscriptions, TalentLMS, Squarespace, Sellsy, Intercom, Slack, Zapier and Abacus.

After using several different merchant providers over the years, I have found Stripe to be the most cost effective program out there. They let you keep more of your hard earned money and who doesn't like that?!

Pros

There is no monthly fees involved with using Stripe. You pay a flat interest rate as well as a low cost per transaction rate. I simply log in, click on the client and process the payment. It is a very secure site so you don't have to worry about having your accounts compromised.

Cons

Monthly statements do not print as other statements; however, in that there are not monthly charges, I have no problem printing out a monthly detailed report in order to reconcile monthly.

I liked stripe on my website until they cancelled me for sales of "pseudo-ceuticals" which I could only imagine is the CBD products I carry, which are also 100% legal.

Pros

Ease of operation and integration to website. Super easy for my customers and super simple to set up for internet purchases.

Cons

Non compliance for "pseudo-ceuticals". I was very discouraged to be suddenly cancelled due to their 100% zero compliance on these products

It's good. It works. I feel like it's a bit of a clunky system compared to others. As I said I have to use it on some platforms but would prefer that customers use paypal, venmo, or other products to book appointments and make purchases. Especially for the long wait deposit time.

Pros

It automatically integrates into my squarespace store, and was easy to set up on tablets and phones.

Cons

But there are better products with lower fees out there. If I have to use Stripe I will, but I prefer other pay platforms with less % fee. Also Stripe does not allow for instant deposit. In this day and age that's just lazy developers.

We would have proceeded with Stripe as our main processing system had our new website been compatible, sadly its presets didn't allow for integration of stripe.

Pros

Excellent feature set, ability to process and keep track of payments, ease of accounting and record keeping make this platform an excellent choice.

Cons

Our small business ultimately had to look for another option as our website platform did not support stripe payments, otherwise our previous use was problem free, and tech support was ever present and helpful when setup issues arose, mainly due to our end and not inherent to the software itself!

We use Stripe to accept online bookings through certain platforms. I appreciate that, once set up, Stripe seems to do most of the work, and integrates with other platforms easily so that it just kind of does its thing without anyone having to pay attention to it. I'm not deeply familiar with all of the features of Stripe, but it seems to do its job well.

Cons

Like I said, it tends to do its job without us having to pay much attention to it. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why when an issue does come up that requires investigation it usually seems like my team doesn't really know how Stripe works. It's not necessarily self-explanatory or intuitive. That's fine as long as you have someone who can actually take a little time to understand the software and maybe check on it from time to time to make sure there are no issues with payments, cancellations, refunds, etc. This isn't a problem with Stripe per say, it's just that having a lot of different softwares working together it's easy to lose track of something.

Very simple CC processing platform that can be used with virtually every e-commerce platform on the web. Minutes to set up and start collecting payments.

Cons

No processing option for the vaping industry (a multi-billion dollar industry, by the way). Some e-commerce platforms only allow Stripe payments, which is a huge inconvenience. No ability to negotiate rates and typically far more expensive than other processors.

Unreasonable fees for Refunded Charges, Unrealistic Hold Times on Payments, Including Low Risk Payments

I subsequently closed my account and continue to use Square and PayPal, which have no similar ridiculous policies.

Pros

This integrates with almost anything, Zapier, IFTTT, Integromat, Invoicing Software, etc; which makes it very convenient. Features are good if you are a developer.

Cons

Upon creating an account, I experienced a long wait period for my account to be approved (about 2 weeks) mostly due to an oversight by the team to activate my account. Then, I was put on a 'high risk' status even though my profession and sales were in the LOW risk category. I also provided all of the required identification and documents to be a 'low risk' status user, however after a few more days they realized this and I was deemed low risk.
That was not all, I was required to have ALL payments, regardless of method and amount, go through an extended hold time until I made consistent sales, which I believe was a 4-6 month period. The funds were held for about 7 days, which was not possible for my business. I emailed, chatted and spoken with many employees to try to bypass but to no avail. When I realized that it would be held for 7 days, I refunded a customer in order to pay an alternative method, however, I learned after doing so that the 'processing fees' couldn't be refunded and I was charged the full fees to process.

Stripe integrates with major ecommerce sites, and can be incorporated into most websites. The fees are comparable with other processors. The online account is fairly easy to use. The search feature is good. Reports and filters are good.

Cons

Would like to see a month statement, rather than just filter by dates for easier account reconciliation.

I reached out to Stripe when I was having issues receiving payments and they wrote back so quickly and took care of me. Awesome customer service.

Pros

I enjoy it because it shows you your income straight forward and also getting paid on a daily bases is nice.

Cons

It has a lot going on when you first look at it.
There are just too many places to click on and I was a little bit confused when using it at first, but I'm smart so I got the hang of it. :)
I do think it would be difficult for people to use if they are used to working with different apps and on the computer.

I LOVE Stripe because:

1. They are trusted and well-known. PayPal is no longer the only option that people trust.

2. I am able to add as many accounts as I need under one account. For example, I have one master account for all my projects that accepts payments. This makes it super convenient and easy for me to accept payments as a different entity!

3. It's user-friendly! I love how it integrates into sites seamlessly. No more of the external redirects to make a payment (I'm looking at you PayPal).

Cons

So far, I don't have any complaints. I haven't had any issues.

If your looking for a easy to setup, robust payment solution there is nothing better than Stripe! They have it all.

Pros

Everything! Easy setup, especially love the styling of the payment area when used in Woocommerce. So easy to setup you can be payment ready in mins!

Cons

The only thing I would love to see is faster deposits for Canadian sellers. Right now it’s a 7 day rotation. Would love to see it get to 2-3 days.

I have several websites through Squarespace and while I use Paypal for eBay Stripe seemed to almost be built for easy integration on Squarespace platforms. Nothing against Paypal but Stripe was easy to get to work with my stuff.

Cons

I've had a few customers ask me, "What is Stripe," so I think everyone is cool with Paypal but I've not heard any customer complaints about using it.

Simply a great payment platform for companies that offer subscriptions for online services.

Pros

Planning on starting a subscription based company? Read "Subscribed" by Tien Tzuo and get a Stripe account. Stripe is very affordable for startups, if you earn a little you also just pay a little. We started using their service 3 years ago and the longer I work with Stripe, the more impressed I am: with their documentation, with their API (and API docs), their interface and their options.

Cons

Used chat support 3 times: twice it was great but the last time it was a staff member that didn't know their own options and features well enough and gave me wrong info. So they might need to spend a bit more time on training their support staff.

What I like about Stripe is that our customers can run payments for their clients. This makes it easier for them but also helps our company with sales in being able to offer those services.
I like that payments go through and if failed they are emailed to the customer right away.
I do also like being able to control the accounts and seeing in the back end why payments may have failed, and or being able to remove accounts etc. This saves a lot of time from having to contact Stripe for any of these small issues.

Cons

There are at times, some bugs that occur. Some of our clients do not get the micro deposits on time or at all, when trying to verify their Direct Debit accounts. This adds frustration to our clients but also we then have to re-enter their account and wait for the deposits again.

Also the direct debit deposit dates. I wish it would take less time but not have to sign up for more extensive transaction fees.

We've processed a ton of money through Stripe without issue. Most merchants will have a lovely time moving to Stripe from other less modern payment providers. They really have made a best in class product for most people.

Pros

Fair rates and fee structure, best in class developer support, very good merchant customer service, integrations with many leading commerce softwares, good volume processing discounts, fast settlement and deposit times

Cons

Shuns vendors who deal in popular sporting goods or anything even remotely scary... For many this is a non issue, but for anyone tangentially related to shooting, hunting, or outdoors goods it's important. Read the TOS carefully and remember all transactions are keyword monitored for prohibited products.

Stripe is a great tool. It's been a huge asset to my startups, saving me time and a lot of hassle that comes with setting up on other competitor platforms.

Pros

I like that it's an easy software to use. The set up is very quick and easy. It works seamlessly with my online store and I was able to start processing right away. I like that you can take a credit card over the phone easily as well.

Cons

I don't like that there's no way to send a quality (or even semi-quality) invoice to customers who you just want to do a quick invoice for. The invoicing process is also not very straightforward if you needed to just shoot an invoice to someone from the software without using a third party.

I enjoyed Stripe when i was using it and i will recommend it to other business owners or anyone interested in receiving payments online for their product or service.

Pros

The simplicity with getting paid and transferring the funds to my bank account was amazing. Also i liked that they would withdraw the money automatically every couple days so i wouldn't be concerned about withdrawing the funds myself.

Overall it's a good service that is needed with today's online billing and shopping.

Pros

I like the fact that I don't have to pay a monthly fee, and it integrates into my billing so that I can take credit cards as payment.

Cons

Of course don't like the fee structure as I get a better price from QB Payments, but I would say that the thing that drives me crazy the most is that the payment schedule is all over the place. Some payments come into the bank in a day or two, while others can take up to a week.

The dashboard has a great UI. It makes overseeing clients, plans, and so on simple.
Excellent developer documentation. Plenty of examples to help you achieve what you want to.
Customer support - if an issue emerges they are constantly open to communicate with the customer.
Stripe makes it extremely simple to drop repeating month to month charges and additionally discounting customers and refunding.

Cons

the fee per transaction is a little high.

Great product. Low rate charges.

Pros

Stripe was very easy to integrate with our website, as well as Facebook. Because we wanted cross-integration, we were worried about finding a suitable product, but Stripe was it!

Cons

There's a good bit of fine-tuning that has to be done to ensure that everything syncs up correctly. This is most critical, when ensuring the security of the website.
