Improve efficiency and decrease medication errors

Able to treat my veterinary patients more efficiently, safely, and it is super easy to use.

PROS

The warning if doses for a medication are out of published range, able to remote in from my house to change the treatment sheet or visualize what is happening with my patient in ICU, easy to use, can remote in to evaluate my patients and make changes if needed.

CONS

The weight graph on the left side of the patient sheet dramatically increases with very little increase in weight, making it seem like a huge change when it may not be. Would like it to be a little less dramatic with small changes in weight.For legal reasons, all treatment sheets need to be reviewed and signed by a veterinarian. In our hospital, the technicians develop the Instinct treatment sheet based on a written plan in Cornerstone. Sometimes, because the ER gets busy, this is not reviewed, and the "doctor to confirm treatment sheet" may not get checked off, or one of the technicians will check it off. I would like to see this be MANDATORY, and ONLY the primary DVM on the treatment sheet is able to check it off. I have seen numerous (at least 3) very detrimental mistakes in transcribing from the planned list to Instinct. I develop my own treatment sheets and cannot change the way things are done on my own, even though I have recommended it many times to administration.

Wonderful & easy to use system!

It has always been very easy to use, the many features & options available have been amazing as well. I also have highly appreciated all of the updates I have seen since I started using this in 2019/2020

PROS

I like how user friendly it is & how it is easy to go back on what has been done on a patient & also see what is coming up in the future. I also enjoy how easy it is to add one-off's and view the history of a single item (i.e. what a pet has been eating in the vitals section of instinct). I also like all the different tabs/sections available on instinct for viewing exactly what you would like to see.

CONS

I would like there to be an easier way to view the last comment left on the previous treatment, this is super helpful & saves time which is much needed in the ER/ICU. I also am not sure if there is an "instinct training video" out there but I know that our hospital would benefit from one as I learn new things on here all the time. Otherwise I love Instinct

This will show you all completed treatments for that order and any notes made. Easy to use software with responsive customer support

I have used Instinct for several years at a variety of veterinary hospitals and have found it very easy to use and teach others to use.

PROS

Features such as medication dose calculators, BSA/RER calculation, and highly customizable treatment details and schedules make Instinct an easy-to-use software. It is integrated with our practice management software to automatically import patients that will be admitted to hospital. The Vitals tab tracks trends in vital parameters for a given patient. There are a lot of useful features (and the Instinct jokes and messages are a bonus Easter egg). I also LOVE that the Instinct background changes for National Veterinary Technician Week. Thank you for showing the love to your vet techs. I also like that the web version can be utilized from any device.

CONS

I don't have any particular negative thoughts about Instinct.

Life without Instinct is much more challenging!

PROS

Pretty easy to learn, even for staff without veterinary experience. It's super stable and responsive. I totally like that I can reach support and get a real person at any time.

CONS

I'm looking forward to Instinct's new Stockroom release for Inventory Management!

Reason for choosing Instinct Science

The practice owner and myself used Instinct's whiteboard at another practice. It's so intuitive and easy to learn that other options were not considered. I have previously used Cornerstone and Avimark and DVMax and Instinct beats them all.

super intuitive and easy to manage patients care

CONS

that there is not a smart phone application for instinct. I have to be logged into my work computer and cannot make quick changes to treatment plans or monitor my patients while I am on the move.

Instinct - A Necessity to Veterinary Hospitals

I have loved working with Instinct, it has been my favorite veterinary software.

PROS

- online treatment sheets with great visualization and trackability- ease of locating patient records- ease of following the schedule- ability to save snippets and templates- ability to have multiple people work on a document

CONS

- automatic log outs when reading through records (thinks your inactive)

Love Instinct EMR

PROS

Ease of use, intuitive, flexible in how to put in data (from many different screens)

CONS

There are only a few things that are a little clunky and they are likely inconsequential, one of which is that the emailed documents are not titled, so there is no way to see exactly what was sent.

Strongly Recommend Instinct

We were Beta testers for the Treatment Plan, and then jumped onto the Electronic Medical Record when it came out. The Instinct team feels like part of our hospital, and truly has been our partner. Instinct is responsive to suggestions for improvement and works directly with team members on the floor in real time through the 24/7 chat feature, which is very helpful when running a 24 hour emergency facility!

PROS

At our veterinary emergency facility, having our team use Instinct both for treatment plan and for electronic medical records has helped maintain our clear and thorough medical records, and those records are very easy for our referring veterinarians to read. The financial impact was immediately felt as missed charges virtually disappeared as the treatments automatically log into the invoice when completed. The 24/7 chat feature allows team members to get help or make suggestions in real time, and the response is virtually immediate. Our team would not give up the efficiencies of Instinct now without a fight, despite initial trepidation at switching from what they previously had used.

CONS

The inventory management is lacking, but they are working on a fix for that...

Reason for choosing Instinct Science

The Instinct features such as integration with Plumb's and the focus on the needs of emergency and specialty hospitals, plus the ease of use and attractive displays sold us on Instinct. Doctors who had used other cloud-based programs were not fans of those systems as being hard to learn and use.

Reasons for switching to Instinct Science

We previously used a server-based system that was old and clunky, with a lot of redundancies. Instinct is cloud-based so that a record can be accessed from anywhere, supported us going paper-light, and is extremely easy for new hires to learn and use.

Instinct is life changing as an ER doctor

As said above-mostly importantly Instinct has improved our medicine and patient care in both our ER and Specialty departments. It has greatly improved our efficiency on the ER floor and helped us catch alot of missed charges. I can't say enough about Instinct. As the Medical Director I can proudly say it life changing for all our staff and has helped us practice better medicine and deliver better patient care!

Instinct is truly-instinctual...easy to use and easy to train. Greatly improves patient care and monitoring.Any ER doctor can tell another ER doctor designed Instinct...everything makes sense and encourages efficiency on the ER floor.Incredible with the amount of charges that we saved and captured instead of being forgotten/lost charges.Instinct has lessened our medical errors.

BEST software I have ever used

PROS

Throughout my 20+ career I have used many types of veterinary practice software, and Instinct is by far the most comprehensive and user friendly of all. Anytime I need help, the response is nearly immediate. Anytime I have feedback or suggestions, my critique is accepted graciously. What I truly appreciate is the software is created by people in the veterinary field who actually use the technology and have a clear idea of what is important.

I am anxiously awaiting a refined version of anesthetic monitoring!

The best vet software i've ever used

PROS

The easy to follow interface, where you can see hourly what is overdue or what's next to be done and plan. The easy way that it's possible to see all patients at once and prioritize who needs most attention. The automatic billing puts Instinct above any other software I've ever used.

CONS

Sometimes it's difficult to change numbers into smaller amounts (like 15 minutes instead of hourly checks).

Best program for treatment sheets

PROS

The program is easy to use and simple to complete tasks plus the colors are very nice.

CONS

I actually don't have much to say about what I do not like about it. Maybe just being able to have the com log closer to where the chart is since it is sometimes missed when owners talk to doctors.

To Instinct or not?

PROS

We love not having paper flow sheets. It has also made communication between departments easier. We all can look at instinct and see what has been changed, treatments due and how the patient is doing overall. From our CSR to our doctors we are all able to use instinct for various reasons.

CONS

Not having Instinct in the hospital with us during on boarding due to covid was not easy. We including instinct did make it work. Going from writing up orders and flow sheets and now having to understand how to translate that into a computer system was not easy. Once we got there we would not go back.

Instinct treatment sheets

The system & customer support has been Wonderful!

PROS

We primarily use Instinct for it's patient treatment board/sheets. It was an easy transition from paper treatment sheets to this electronic format. I wish we used more of the features, but at this time we almost exclusively use it for treatment sheets

CONS

Sometimes when going back to look up old treatment sheets it can be a little slow, but it isn't terrible

Amazing ICU software for 24/7 practice

PROS

Instinct is essential for managing patients in a 24/7 ICU setting. Treatments are easy to set up, customize and plan. I love that it calculates drug dosages and has set safety ranges. I feel like this software really brings the veterinary world up to par with human hospital standards. It should be considered standard of care in a 24 hour hospital setting!

CONS

There is nothing I would change. We switched from hand written, paper ICU charts to Instinct and I have been blown away. This software makes my job so much more efficient and my work day so much easier!

Love Instinct

Love Instinct

Support has been amazing, no troubles with launch/on-boarding and staff adapted quickly given its user-friendly style.

PROS

Love it!!! Super clean and easy to use!

Accountability for treatments and easier record keeping made possible by this software is invaluable. Especially because all medical records are legal documents.

PROS

I love the layout and how clean the software is. I specifically like the Tx Sheet (and all its cool options) and Ax mode.

CONS

It refreshes constantly due to the internet connectivity issues. We have many devices logged into the program and may be due to our wifi strength and not the software itself.
