The greatest editing app of all time
It's extremely easy to create videos, capture the screen, and edit the results of them. I've been using Camtasia since version 6, and the improvements have truly addressed my daily challenges. I've tried using other editing apps, but I couldn't find anything like this one. It's really comprehensive, focusing on features that truly matter. There are no unnecessary features. If you want to create informative, instructional, short marketing, or budget-friendly videos, then this is definitely your best option.
CONSThere are some memory limitations in projects that use a lot of effects or large video files. Therefore, when I have to edit a large video, I usually split the editing into parts and produce them separately. So, if you want to make videos longer than 10 minutes frequently, on a computer with less than 16GB of memory, Camtasia may not be the best option for you.

New Changes from 2022 to 2023 Frustrating
I really loved it at first and promoted it to others to start using it. Now, it drives me crazy that it takes me longer to create than it ever did before because of these design and UX changes.
PROSIt was pretty easy to learn and could do the basics with no problem.
CONSThe additions of Proxy and other editing features made it cumbersome to get the normal editing completed that 2022 had.
Reasons for switching to Camtasia
Wanted to try something better and more robust.

Camtasia stinks and will be replacing it
Terrible, slow, expensive for what it is, doesn't get good updates.
PROSBeing able to separate screen, mouse, and voiceover.
CONSExtremely poor editing software. No way to play at 2x speed, program runs insanely slow, worse than After Effects, and each project gets worse the more edits you make. No way to do rolling edits, or select future clips easily. Sets-up projects at the incorrect aspect ratio by default, and then when you notice that further in your project, it's a pain in the butt to fix on each individual edit.
Reason for choosing Camtasia
I'll be switching back. Camtasia has become far too much of a pain.

Capture your fantasy screen
I enjoyed creating my video course and used most of Camtasia functionalities, and even though I had a very low memory RAM size I got a good and smooth product at the end.
PROSWell, I started the use of Camtasia about ten years ago and I was astonished how easy was to learn the use of. Besides, upon a few clicks anything were set just out of the box and I could create my first course about video-editing. It's a great software to create a video from a high quality screen capture.
CONSThe price it's the mayor con! If you can afford it and the updates then the cost value the quality. The second con is that you need a lot of memory to get a smooth work. If do you have 32 GB RAM can work fine without problem. No other con from my experience.
Reasons for switching to Camtasia
To test another software but I decided to use both because they have different features

I love the ease of use and one-time fee. It's a great way to get started in video editing for the average user.
CONSSometimes Camtasia crashes and the AI features I bought the upgrade for don't really work with pre-existing content.

Camtasia is a better bang for the buck than Adobe Premiere, especially for newer users.

Camtasia for Video Creation
Camtasia has been a core tool in my (and my organization's) e-learning development toolbox over the years. We've used it to capture training content, edit training content, create training content, etc. Screen captures, live capture of instructor video, accompanying or standalone animated storytelling via graphics and text. It's been great.
PROSCamtasia is easy to use, doesn't require a subscription, has good built-in animations and transitions, and does screen capture as well! It's a great tool that covers a lot of bases in the world of video creation/editing. Has excellent performance for the most part as well.
CONSI've always wished the media bin was a resizable pane. I've worked around it by using structured file naming conventions for my media assets (of which I typically have a lot, since I mostly use Camtasia these days for video creation with text and graphics).

Editing videos and creating videos is very easy
I feel comfortable with it. I appreciate the overall UX and the functonnalities match my needs.
PROSCamtasia has been improving a lot over the years and is still offered at a reasonable price. For me, this is a very good mark of quality in a company. I want to be able to trust and rely on a company when I invest time and money to learn their product and get comfortable with. Camtasia is a company that offers me that. Some online tools might have become more intuitive and easy to use but they don't offer reliable technical support and other services so critical to my work. I like working with Camtasia and I trust the product.
CONSA few years ago, the software was not so stable and was crashing on a regular basis. This very rarely happens now and I never loose anything. So again, they have invested effort in improvement and they listen to their customers' needs.

Great for tutorial videos
I love being able to create videos of different sizes that combine screen capture and video. It's great for tutorials. I love having the ability to Zoom in and highlight certain areas. It makes it so much more professional, dynamic and easy to follow for the watcher. I love being able to choose the size of screen capture and the size of the video. Other tools tend to have a video thay is rather small.
CONSI wish there were more free assets to use. The transitions or behaviors could be improved with more choices. The background remover doesn’t work all that great. Zoom does a better job. In Camtasia it's not good enough for me to use that feature. I have a cushion behind my back that Camtasia's background remover is having problem with. Zoom, with the same background can remove it without issues.

Camtasia is why I can do what I do
Overall, I’ve had a great experience with Camtasia. I’ve used it for YouTube, for my teaching and making training and demonstration videos for other contracts I’ve had.
PROSThe ability to edit video was a total game-changer. Otherwise, I may as well just post videos recorded with a phone camera. It allows my videos to be infinitely better than they would be otherwise. The timeline-style editing is great and I now think in those terms when recording.
CONSThe 2023 version is not as stable as the old version I had. The old version NEVER crashed (okay, maybe once in five years). 2023… has been known to choke when I try to use and edit large recordings. Have also had some problems with the license key sometimes just… going away and the system not accepting my license key when I re-enter it. Extremely annoying. I’ve had the new version since Nov. and this problem happens about every two months so far.
Reason for choosing Camtasia
I took a course on video editing for teachers and Camtasia is the software they used and required.

Great video editing software perfect for tutorials
I've been using this for so long I forgot. Camtasia has improved a lot and it replaced my video editing software. I use to make tutorials for my clients and this helps me create them in a professional way and make adjustments super quick. I have a maintenance contract that may require more training from their agents. I had to explain a problem 3 times to finally have someone to watch over me. I was treated like a regular joe when I am paying a support contract. The third guy really replied and followed me up. The first 2 guys didn't even care much.
PROSit's aimed to videotutorial creators. Easy to use, fast to edit videos, very comfortable to work with
CONSSome details like the fonts outlines that end up as little boxes around each letter and some features that should work better like the templates to have all the fonts and colors on the whole project... well that doesn't work.
Reason for choosing Camtasia
Easy to use and screen recording options
Reasons for switching to Camtasia
Editor is way easier and faster. Powerdirector has the audio/video sync that excels from the rest and Camtasia lacks it as it lacks video stabilizers etc. But Camtasia is aimed for video tutorials creators so it has all the tools for this and make the job a pleasure.

Great Video Editing Software for Windows
I've had a great experience with Camtasia so far. It has been a great resource to have when editing all my videos and creating new videos. It has great features, and is really to use from an user point of view. It also is very easy to train on and learn. Definitely a great alternative to IMovie.
PROSI like the ease of use and drag and drop features the most on Camtasia. When I am editing or creating a video I usually add multiple clips together, and the drag and drop feature allows my video clip to fall into place right where I need it. The drag and drop feature is also great for text overlays or transitions and makes it much easier to edit videos and place your video/picture clips at the exact place it needs to be. Furthermore, the video editing features are great, and can definitely be a good windows alternative of IMovie.
CONSThere is a limited selection of transitions, text overlays to choose from compared with other video editing softwares. Although I use the same text overlay feature every time, it would be good if there was more/more unique options when editing your video. Also when editing your video, sometimes it is hard to cut the few seconds and sometimes milliseconds out to create a perfect video.
Reason for choosing Camtasia
From a cost perspective, Camtasia was a better option.

Camtasia delivers a well-rounded video-editing feature set.
Ease of use & swift-editing capabilities with the added bonus of including a robust audio & screen recorder are the most crucial factors for picking up this software.
CONSLack of backwards compatibility with (slightly) older versions is undoubtedly disappointing. The reason is that some of our office computers still run the obsolete Windows 7 & newer versions of Camtasia do not support the aforementioned OS, thus requiring another Windows 10 / 11 machine (or any other OS that supports the latest version of Camtasia) to open up & edit the project file.
Reasons for switching to Camtasia
Camtasia offers a better value for the money & is more intuitive by comparison.

Camtasia, the ideal suite for students and businesses
I like Camtasia to edit and create simple videos focused on brands and students because it allows us to create interesting and didactic audiovisuals, this video editor fulfills that function very well, but when developing a major production project, I would not even bother to open this software, because I know previously it will not help me. The price is very affordable and I highly recommend this video editor if you want to create school projects or aimed at a work group, from there on out it would not be the best option. The price is very affordable and I highly recommend this video editor if you want to create school projects or aimed at a work group, from there on out it would not be the best option.
PROSCamtasia is a really simple video editor, I like how it works, I like what it can do, but above all, I like that it leaves you to create videos in such simple and easy ways, Camtasia seems to be focused on the beginner user, or the one who wants to do simple and good quality videos. In my opinion, this is a very good first video editor for those who want to enter the world of post-production and audiovisual development, its price is accessible and that is exactly what makes this my first suggestion to any beginner.
CONSCamtasia is very simple, the features that make it an excellent video editor make it a software that doesn't meet the needs of all the projects we may have in mind, not to mention the post-production of some long footage, we couldn't get something elaborate with the native resources of this video editor. If you're an intermediate or advanced experienced editor, I wouldn't recommend this software, as it will probably just stop your workflow and won't meet your needs.

Camtasia: A Comprehensive Video-Editing Solution for E-Learning
Great experience. Some performance enhancements would be definitely recommended but overall it is a great video-editing/making package.
PROSCamtasia supporting me in developing high quality e-learning courses in higher education and training. Easy time-line management made the tasks very smooth and executed on time. The ability to include random quizzes and assignments in the Video at several points in time was an amazing feature that I can't really find in that flexibility in other products. Screen recording (even on mobile phones), Annotations, transitions, and several other video effects result in professional video development results.
CONSThe rendering time in Camtasia is very slow. This isn't as bad in other rival software such as Apple's imovie. But Still in spite of this, the feature-rich software makes one tolerate that delay in return of the amazing video editing features it provides.

My favorite software for Video Editing
My overall experience with Camtasia has been good. And, just like any other software, it gets easier and more fun creating/editing videos in Camtasia as you know more about the software & basics of Video Editing. Camtasia is good if you are looking for basic Video Editing software. But, if we talk about Videos that require advanced editing, visual effects e.g. in the case of Cinematic videos, etc. then I would recommend comparing with alternative options to see which one fits the goal.
PROSCamtasia has all the required features, and a simple UI to help you create polished Videos without needing to spend too much time learning the software. Talking about most favorite features, I like the 'remove a color' effect, callouts, transition effects, & animations. These features help in creating professional-looking videos. For example, after you record a video with the green screen, you can then remove the background color using the 'remove a color' option, and, later you can add callouts with effects, animations, etc. to make the video more engaging. Camtasia also has easy to use screen recording feature, which comes in handy when you need to create PPT-based videos, or need to record a short clip for inserting into your final video. Another thing I like about the software is, that you can group the elements on the video timeline, so when you are creating an element with too many effects, and animations combined; then you can group those elements to show as one element. Also, you can copy & paste these created elements into the new project file, which helps in reducing your editing time when you need to use an already created element.
CONSThere aren't many options related to Audio corrections in Camtasia. Also, the color correction options are not that good either if we compare it to options in software like Premiere Pro CC.

Camtasia a once solid performer has really gone downhills
I use to consider Camtasia to be rock solid and then several months ago I bought an update to a newer version. It has been a nightmare for me ever since. I have or had support but they are always gone and it is very difficult to submit a support ticket. Even then, I waited several days for them to return to work and all they did was find the same pdf I had already located which did not resolve my issue and close my ticket. It was all a complete waste of my time and money. The software crashes constantly now and I lose work with no end in sight. The updates never seem to improve anything anymore. They just seem to introduce more and worse crashing and lack of reliability. I don't feel the company is committed to this solution any longer. They just try to keep it out of the ditches and that is all.
PROSIt is fairly easy to schedule a recording although the constant updates lose your settings each time. The output files as an MP4 are convenient to view although you have to fix settings every time you go to render. Basic editing can be quick and easy but it can also get less than desirable results.
CONSSupport is unreliable for the product. Very limited hours and all they do is find what you can find yourself. Updates are very obtrusive with this software. They tend to crash and I have to completely uninstall and reinstall the software to get it up and going. Updates are short-lived. I apply updates to resolve feature issues and a couple of weeks later it is in trouble again and needs more maintenance.

Intuitive, easy to learn, polished results
I'm an instructional design grad student and finally tried Camtasia to create a portfolio piece for a job application. I liked it so much I ended up purchasing it and then using it in work to edit my department's outdated tutorial videos for student orientation. I also created an interactive tutorial for student curriculum, importing content from PowerPoint (which was relatively easy). Accessibility is important to me, so Camtasia's ability to generate (fairly accurate) captions is a huge plus. Generally dragging, dropping, cutting up, rearranging, and creating overlays and callouts for videos is pretty easy and intuitive. I tried to do some of these projects in Adobe Premiere Pro and just got frustrated -- Premiere is honestly just too MUCH for a simple tutorial video, it's better used for more complicated film projects and for simple screen captures it's just clunky and loves to crash and fail to save. Even though I get Adobe for free through work, Camtasia is worth the $200 for ease of use.
PROSCamtasia makes video production easy and intuitive, particularly for training or demonstration videos that require screen capture. The auto-caption feature is highly intelligent, the software is much more intuitive than programs like Adobe Premiere Pro. The callout features are easy and helpful and the upload to video platforms is simple. I love being able to upload to screencast.com and include interactive buttons in the videos. The layering feature for video and audio makes sense to me as someone who's used Adobe for many years (though again, this is way more intuitive than most Adobe products).
CONSIt is a bit difficult to scroll through layers and timelines on a smaller (laptop-sized) screen and a bit too easy to accidentally click the button that inserts a quiz. Editing auto-generated captions is a bit finicky and took me a while to get the hang of. This is really nitpicking, but you can't export a free trial video without a big ugly watermark (though perhaps this is par for the course at this point). Some of the stock animations/overlays didn't load correctly for me, which was kind of disappointing. Overall though, these are minor bugs.
Reasons for switching to Camtasia
Much more intuitive, less clunky

Camtasia is a 'top-tier' video editing & recording software
I have used Camtasia for a few years now, and have transferred it across to my new roles as it is a tool I prefer over other pieces of software. It offers a very easy set-up, with various opportunities to enhance videos. It also has a built-in screen recorder which is always handy, with the ability to add audio, voiceovers and much more! I plan to continue using Camtasia indefitinitely, and hope others get on board with using such a great tool! Always looking forward for updates and new developments with the software. It is a winner!
PROSThere are many reasons why I choose to use Camtasia over other software. Firstly, the set-up offers a simple and seamless user interface for creating, recording and editing videos. Whether you are a beginner or advanced video editor, this tool allows for a comprehensive experience. Camtasia offers inspiration for video creation, as well as multiple tools, effects and transitions that have helped bring our videos to life. The timeline offers an understandable way of creating projects, unlike software such as 'Premier Pro' which is very specific in it's target audience of trained professionals. Camtasia has everything you need in once place, and is a software that would make naybody feel confident in using!
CONSThe only thing I would mention, is that when exporting the final video, much like all software, so this is very much a 'me thing' - is that, if you move any content used in the video to a different folder on your user drive, you need to re-connect the images when opening the editing file again.
Reason for choosing Camtasia
Much easier set-up, offers training & accreditations, and provides inspiration!

Fantastic for recording demo videos
Camtasia has made recording demos exceptionally easy for anyone.
PROSCamtasia is extremely easy to get started with. The trial version is fully featured and time-limited. You have 30 days to try out the software. I wanted to record a demo which was fairly complicated and involved lots of different windows. After installing Camtasia, simply load up the software, arrange what you want to record, then press the record button. You can set an area for recording which is helpful when dealing with large displays. After finishing the recording, you can then spend the majority of your time editing the video. Camtasia is not as fully featured as Adobe Premiere, but for this use case it really doesn't need to be. Being able to splice video, add various effects (like speed up), and add audio is sufficient enough. I haven't looked into the more advanced features yet as the basic features are good enough for my needs. Lastly Camtasia enables you to export video in multiple formats and finely tune the size based on the video / audio quality.
CONSThe only gripe I have is that the yearly plan is somewhat pricey for me at $299 per user per year. However they do offer a free upgrade to the next version. And the renewal fee is reasonable at $50. Overall the ease of use is worth the license cost.

Camtasia Review
Camtasia has a lot of great features. It's super easy to learn for people with no experience creating videos. I had zero experience before I started creating software help videos at my company. There are also many videos and resources to teach you how to do different things. The ability to group different tracks is very helpful for creating animations and saving time having to edit multiple tracks. It has the ability to export to different places easily. This is convenient for uploading the videos to YouTube. It's also convenient to be able to export just small parts of a video quickly to see what it would look like. We have different teams where I am at and it's easy to export and upload what we are working on and share libraries.
CONSI do wish camtasia had better audio editing tools. The noise remover and ones they have tend to make things worse rather than better. There is another feature you can purchase in addition to camtasia that specializes in audio. There are times when camtasia crashed and thankfully a separate backup is saved when that happens, but it can be frustrating when you get kicked off. Wish there was a larger free library. While they do gave free icons, animations, etc the library you start with is small.

It is a great software and very intuitive to learn
It helps me out a lot with working with social media reels and ads. I manage several accounts for different clients and Camtasia is a time saver app. Very easy to use, doesn't really have a learning curve if you have a minimum knowledge of design and editing, all of my questions have been answered in the faq or tutorials you find everywhere online.
PROSIt allows me to edit videos for my social media accounts and I didn't need to make a video editing course, it was quite intuitive. It is much easier to work on my pc than on a small screen for this too so even though the video editing apps for mobile are good I always prefer the freedom that a pc allows me. Also, most of my assets are created on the pc so I don't have to be moving files to the phone.
CONSThe transitions and effects are quite limited. Some free phone apps have plenty of effects and in many cases, I end up exporting little clips and putting them together in a different app because I want a specific effect (i.e. small jump) that I cannot manage to create on Camtasia. There might be tricks to do them I am not aware of but I couldn't find anything useful so I always go back to one of the phone apps.
Reasons for switching to Camtasia
I don't like editing videos on my phone, it makes the process very slow and ineffective.
