Transforming Ideas into Reality: Unleashing the Power of Elegant Themes Divi

Design, Development, Ecom, Content Publication, Affiliate, SEO

PROS

Since the early 2000s, I have been a loyal user of Elegant Themes (Divi), and I can't help but appreciate their unwavering commitment to seamless UI integration, top-notch design, and responsive frameworks. Their customer support is nothing short of exceptional, setting a global standard. Having them as part of my team brings me immense satisfaction and joy.

CONS

I'm truly at a loss on this one, as I am genuinely amazed by their dedication because they consistently exceed expectations, even in areas that might not be considered their direct responsibility, such as handling hosting errors. Their commitment to going above and beyond is truly exceptional.

Reason for choosing Divi

Their designs have always brought me back ... plus they integrate with anyone so if I need something off their radar ... i know it will still work

A Powerful Wordpress Software Platform

After using other visual builders, I chose Divi as the software to invest in for my growing Web Design business. The leadership at Elegant Themes is committed to future development which enforces my choice to invest in the platform

PROS

Divi has a great customer support team readily available via chat plus well-documented training videos and blog posts to learn basic and advanced features. Additionally, there is an extensive group of 3rd party developers offering solutions and training for all aspects of the software easily accessible online.

CONS

The learning curve takes a long time but as noted above, everything I needed to become an expert user is available to lean as quicky as you like.

Reason for choosing Divi

After using other visual builders, I chose Divi as the software to invest in for my growing Web Design business because of its large installed base, features set, and customer support.

A slow, bumpy road with a dead end

I manage multiple sites and train managers to use them on a regular basis. Divi is consistently requires the most training and administrative support. Divi consistently takes longer to do simple edits and results in more errors per edit than any other theme we use. Divi requires a lot of server resources and bandwidth for simple actions, making it slow for admins and punishing mobile end users who may have limited bandwidth/poor connections. A faster server will only help so much - you can't spend your way out of this.

PROS

1 - The system uses a layout system/library to allow for shared layout elements - such as headers/footers. Allows for custom elements on each page. 2 - Divi provides a WYSIWYG editor.

CONS

1 - Divi was built before WordPress used blocks and was intended to solve some of the sames issues and is incompatible. WordPress blocks are far easier to use and understand. 2 - The WSYWG editor is confusing and SLOW. Save does not always mean save, restore features lie and don't work. 3 - Divi uses separate content for mobile and desktop. A single edit must be made in multiple places. 4 - The layout system/library is hard to use and probably could have been addressed more easily using widgets or other tools provided and supported by the WordPress core. At least you don't have to touch it much. 5 - Divi does not respect boundaries between content and format. It inserts a huge amount of formatting cruft into the content which makes it slow for users. And expensive to impossible to change themes or platforms without starting from scratch. If you expect your project to have a long life, this carries significant future costs/limitations. Divi tries to do things its own way. This means that the user skills learned are not transferable and site content itself is not transferable, and that prior knowledge can't be applied. I wonder if Elegant Themes really wanted to build their own CMS from ground up without WordPress - it has always felt to me like they were trying to write a new CMS on top of another, adding new sins to old, adding redundant layers of processing and administration.

Reason for choosing Divi

The marketing firm did not have a web developer at the time they accepted the design contract. The developer they hired (after the contract was already late) did not have much experience.

I'm never leaving divi. Try it.

I first purchased divi to try on one site I was redesigning as a pro bono job for a friend, not really expecting much other than maybe a slightly more flexible template that what I'd used in the past. MAN was I wrong. I have since moved all of the sites I maintain (or create) to divi and haven't looked back.

PROS

Honestly, it's just so easy to use and not limiting. You can use it simply with a premade template, or go crazy customizing and have most everything you'd need available. Additionally, if you get too far away from your actual abilities the customer support team is absolutely fantastic.

CONS

This is totally nit-picky, but occasionally I'll come across some customizations that require some out of the box thinking to accomplish but should be something offered as a feature.

Reasons for switching to Divi

Looked like a more flexible and robust template option.
