Sawyer is a cloud-based camp management solution that offers booking and scheduling services for children's after-school class providers, camps and events. The solution also offers an online marketplace, where parents can register their children for semester programs and camps. Key features include online registration, an online payment gateway, a parent portal and student management.

Camp and class providers can take booking orders on their website by embedding the Sawyer widget. Once a booking is initiated by a parent, details of the order can be tracked on an online dashboard. The solution also offers an online payment gateway allowing partners to add classes to a virtual cart and checkout. Besides class booking, scheduling and online payment management, the solution offers an online messaging functionality allowing users to communicate with parents and students.  

Additionally, class providers can join the Sawyer community to showcase their offerings on an online marketplace. This allows parents to book classes directly from the Sawyer website.

It was very easy to get my classes set up and I find the way the system works to be functional. I haven't had many issues at all as an administrator.

Cons

I do find that it works the best from my computer as opposed to my phone. As a teacher, I've had several parents have issues with signups going through, but honestly, that might be due to parent error or administrator error. Now that I'm running my own registrations, I haven't had any problems.

I'm having a much smoother time registering families for my programs. Previously I had a lot of drop ins and even registrations who hadn't actually paid, but with Sawyer I've really minimized how many people I have to track down for payment later. I also appreciate that there are questions built into registration and that I can even add more questions, which comes in very handy when I'm running the camp and have kids for the whole day.

Pros

It is really user-friendly. It did not take long to learn it and I can train my admin staff to use it pretty quickly. I like the interface, everything looks nice and is readily accessible. I LOVE the customer service team, they have always been really fantastic and totally understand my needs as a small business offering kids' programming.

Cons

It is simpler than some of the other registration systems, which I think mostly works to it's advantage. Sometimes though I need the software to do something more specific and there's not an option available. I do appreciate that their customer service team is always really responsive to these moments though. They either walk me through other options or even talk to the development team about adding further features.

Ease of use and built in capabilities that didn't exist with our last system. Automated system greatly benefits our clients - they now have total control over their purchases. Customer service. Pros

I love how well organized it is and straight forward for my customers to use. I also like how it doesn't take too much of my time. Everything is there, taking attendance, having record from every students, emailing directly to everyone or just one parent.

Supporting a small, local business.

Pros

Easy to set up events and manage clients. The process is intuitive and straightforward. Another plus is that the payments are deposited to your checking account pretty quickly.

Cons

I wish to customize the enrollment process a little more, but lots of new features seem to be in the roadmap per conversation with Isabelle.

Pros

Everything works pretty seamlessly- I haven't had any issues with the software lagging, or with glitches so that's good

Cons

I find that a lot of it is counter-intuitive. For example, you can't simply upload an activity and location in one go. You have to add an activity, then add the location, then add the semester. It seems a bit overly complicated. It's also not really possible to add drop in classes as they are- they all come up as semesters and with my program I mostly don't do semesters- I focus more on the drop in classes as my program runs year round

A great looking and organized way for our clients to sign up for classes on our website!

Pros

I really like how the way the software looks on my website and its functionality. Customer service has also been incredible and has taken all of our suggestions and tried to implement as much as possible to make everything easier for us to use and for our customers.

Cons

I wish there were a few more options on how to display classes as semester versus drop in. Also some clients have found it frustrating to sign up for a class- honestly i think this is pure laziness on the customer end and not wanting to have to "sign up" for sawyer tools in order to sign up for our class but if there was a way around not having to do this it would make it much easier for us to have drop ins pay at class. generally they don't want to go through the whole signing up process because it looks more difficult then just inputting payment.

1. Report Tracking of payments and fees collected/paid out
2. Linking to my web site was a plus that didn't require any extra fees to do so
3. I no longer have to "chase" parents/clients down for past due balances or "threaten" them with late fees
4. I like that I can create discounts and that the sibling discount is also embedded

Cons

I don't like that credit cards are the only option for customers I would love to have an option of ACH for my customers.

Simple to use and improving

Pros

Very easy to add, delete hide classes. The plug in link includes cart check out and payment system. I wish I found Sawyer 6 weeks ago i would have save 700 dollars and a bunch of time.

Cons

It's child oriented, my surfing lessons at sandiegosurf.com are for children and adults so I shared with sawyer that it would be nice to have the word child 1 child 2 etc...replaced with surfer 1 surfer 2 etc...Or for others artist 1 2 etc Golfer 1 etc...Also I suggested a calendar view and a repeat button for a super easy input system for providers, Sawyer listens and in in the process of this and more. I think the system is very good and will become excellent. I shopped a lot to find the right match and I think sawyer and sandiegosurf.com are going to make a great partnership

I love how families can purchase more than one class. I love how it adds a professional look and experience for families.

Cons

I wish we had more options for personalizing the layout. For example we don't have camps and call our events Pop-Ups so we had a few families confused on where to look.

This software allows me to keep track of registrations all in one place and does the attendance for me. I do not have to worry about classes over booking. I can also easily contact parents of an entire class all at once. It provides an easy online method of registration for my customers.

Pros

Helps cut down on the amount of time I spend collecting class tuition and has helped us immensely with tracking attendance.

Pros

Since Sawyer is a new platform they are continuously adding new features and finding better ways to handle more complex transactions. Their customer support is incredible and the pricing is reasonable. I also LOVE the customer facing side. The design is sleek and user friendly.

Cons

It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles some other platforms have and the back end can be a bit clunky and hard to navigate at times but for a small business looking for an affordable solution for registration and class management, this platform is great!

I like that there's a cart so that people can purchase multiple activities for multiple kids in one transaction.

Cons

My customers are still finding it hard to navigate the registration. It's a little busy-looking on the registration page since I have multiple class dates available. I'm looking forward to them making each session collapsible, so parents only see the session they are shopping for.

We have created happier customers. For me personally it lowers the written burden of taking reservations. And I love when I get an email showing that someone has just reserved a camp week! It's almost like passive income!

Pros

That I can do it myself. I also love that my customers can sign up without my help. And I can adjust the de so I get the full payment.

Cons

It's a little tricky and not totally intuitive. Even after 6+ months of user I still often have to hunt around to find what I'm looking to do.
Also, the software doesn't support my rolling admission class sessions.
