### Most mentioned pros

- We love text in church - tools that help us do the heavy lifting so we can focus on the mission and people!
- You can use it to communciate with people wanting to know more about Jesus in a “Text Yes” Campagin.
- It’s a great want to communicate things to your congregation. If there is emergency or unexpected close (we had snow in North Carolina) 3.

### Most mentioned cons

- Uploading files to send is a little "clunky" as you can only upload one file at a time and then only attach one file at a time to emails.
- The only drawback, is people thinking it’s someone’s personal phone number and they send some personal information.
- I didn't prefer the interface, and, until recently, it didn't function as a full integration within Planning Center.

This is an excellent tool for churches for many reasons. 1. You can use it to communciate with people wanting to know more about Jesus in a “Text Yes” Campagin. 2. It’s a great want to communicate things to your congregation. If there is emergency or unexpected close (we had snow in North Carolina) 3. Communicate with your volunteers with reminders.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The flexibility for several Ministries to use this software. We have several teams…..Groups, General Congregation, Guest Services & Events. This way, we can all manage our messages more effectively and efficiently. We started using in on Sundays for people to text YES when we ask if they’d like to labor more about Jesus. This give us at least a starting point with new believers and people that are interested. For my volunteer team on Events, I use text in church to tell them there is an important email that they need to look for.WIth all the emails these days, many just miss important emails. Telling folks that an important email just went out about volunteering ad one of our 3 campuses is an effective what to get great sign ups.

#### Cons

The only drawback, is people thinking it’s someone’s personal phone number and they send some personal information.

#### Cons

When I read a message in the app it still shows I have a message until I manually mark it as read or archive it. That was annoying to me.

#### Reasons for choosing Text In Church

The templates that made it easier to use and setup to stay connected!

#### Pros

Text in Church and Talk in Church are the backbone of my communications systems

#### Cons

The pay structure in relation to the features I do and do not use makes it so that I pay a lot for the few services I use, but then have to pay more if I want to use the features I do use to their full capacity.

#### Reasons for switching to Text In Church

I switched from Tithely because I am not in agreement with the the very vocal beliefs of the [sensitive content hidden] and did not want to be associated with their perspectives. And, because Text in Church offered more of what I needed in one platform, it made the switch easier. I switched from Ministry Tracker because they discontinued the other feature I was using.

IT's a Game Changer! It's been a wonderful tool that I am expanding every day. It makes my job so much easier! Would HIGHLY recommend it!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Automated workflows, ability to text or send and email, ability to personalize it. I love that it integrates with the main database I use for our church. I love that I can schedule things things to go out and not have to worry about it again. I love that I can communicate with groups of people but there is individual and personal interaction. I love that you can see who opted out of further messages and am able to update my main database. Customer service and articles are amazing!

#### Cons

Just a few things I would change....the ability snooze a person within a group when they aren't available that month but may be in the future. I would like to be able to print a report of people that opt out of texts so that I can update my main database. I would like to set a sync time. I would like separate inboxes for different phone numbers. Right now, everything goes to the same inbox

#### Reasons for choosing Text In Church

More keywords available...smart cards, personalization, automated workflows, customer service, but as I discover more ways to use Text in Church, the list grows.

#### Reasons for switching to Text In Church

All reasons I love it. So much more flexibility. I can use it in a variety of ways for everything from newcomers to volunteers to event registration.

### A necessity for church communication!

We use TIC to help people sign up for small groups, go through our discipleship program, sign up for baptism, and more. Their customer service is out of this world. We have had such a great experience with TIC!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It is simple to use as a tool to communicate with our congregation. Once you load all your people and numbers into TIC, you can put them into groups and categories to message for different reasons and events. It makes it so simple to message back and forth with them too. Not just send out a message but to have a conversation.

#### Cons

Sometimes it’s difficult when people change their cell numbers and we don’t know so then we continue messaging a new stranger ☺️ I think it can sometimes be confusing when TIC has to use different numbers to ensure the message sends out. It’s confusing to our members seeing different numbers they don’t recognize. Neither of these are TIC issues though.

#### Reasons for switching to Text In Church

Price. Lack of ability to converse. Super low ‘pick up’ numbers (people would hear the chime and hang up the phone or only listen for the first few seconds)

Experience has been top notch! Any issue that I had the technical support was right there to help out and fix the issue. They are very personal and there is a name and face behind the voices (text messages). :)

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Using TIC is such a simple process. Very easy learning curve. Saves us time and energy when communicating with our church. Instead of making hundreds of phone calls to get information out we can easily connect with everyone with the click of the mouse.

#### Cons

The app is a little sketchy at times. It will say I have a ton of unread notifications when they were all read. Other than that it is a great product!

#### Reasons for choosing Text In Church

TIC is built with churches in mind and they cater to our specific needs.

#### Vendor response

Hi James! Thanks for the great review. I really appreciate you sharing your experience. Sorry for the confusion with the notifications. Since your inbox is shared amongst your admins, the app notifications are for unactioned messages NOT unread messages. You can simply mark them actioned or reply to remove the notification. Again, thanks for the awesome feedback!

So, so.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 1/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

The product has great training tools. The customer service is excellent. I agree wholeheartedly with the concept, everyone has their cell phone all the time.

#### Cons

It is very difficult to sit down and watch all of the training videos. By the time I get back to the videos I feel like I have forgotten a lot of what I learned. Also, there is a fatal flaw in the system. People can fill out the digital card and never put their name. I have ended up with just a bunch of numbers. The solution, according to the company, is to create yet another list to follow up on to get the names, which is why I bought the product to begin with.

#### Reasons for choosing Text In Church

I thought it would be a catch all for us, but for now has created more work. BUT BUT BUT, for someone with an "eye" for this type of software I think it would work well.

#### Vendor response

Chris, thanks for the review. If someone text in but doesn't provide their name by filling out your digital connection card, I'd recommend sending them a quick text message following up. Start a conversation with them via text and ask for their name. It's just when someone stops by your Welcome Center. Engage in a conversation and eventually gather their contact info. For some people, it does take a bit of work, but connecting with a first-time guest is well worth the effort. If we can help with anything feel free to reach out to our team.

We have improved our communication to our members with Text in Church. Also, for the first time, guests have a way of hearing from us after they've visited. Members feel more involved and in the loop than ever before.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I like the ability to text hundreds of people instantly. The groups function is an easy-to-use tool. The ability for people to opt themselves out of communication is also important. Church members feel updated any time they receive an email or text.

#### Cons

I don't like that they charge us per text. Many times I want to send messages over 160 characters to our church members, but am forced to limit the message to conserve the number of texts I use per month. I also think some of their formatting and setup of certain templates is clunky and not user-friendly.

#### Reasons for choosing Text In Church

Because it was more customizable to church ministry and it was around the same price.

#### Vendor response

Jeff, thanks for the great review. I wanted to let you know that we charge per text message sent regardless of the number of characters. So, even if you exceed 160 characters it still counts as just one. Also, incoming messages do not count against your allotment.

For a small church staff, guest follow up can sometimes fall by the wayside among all the other things that need to happen on a weekly basis. At least at my church that was the case. Text In Church lets you set up and customize a comprehensive guitar followup protocol that’s near foolproof! It’s a wonderful communication tool!

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

Hands down what I like most about Text In Church is the automation!

#### Cons

I didn’t care much for the limited number of texts you’re allowed to send per subscription tier. I’ve used another texting service that allows unlimited messages to be sent for one flat rate. This way, I feel like I can freely communicate and hold conversations without feeling like I’m using up valuable text credits.

### Great Tool for Immediate Communication with your Congregation

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5

#### Pros

It is a great tool for sending out brief announcement reminders, event changes, service updates, etc... The congregation gets the information immediately and you don't get a full mailbox of responses either. You could set-up various groups and send only to the groups. We have a group named ASM (Access Student Ministry) for our youth group. That all our parents and students are on so that everyone gets the information.

#### Cons

Using it for our first time visitors was not successful for us. Many of our guests did not or would not give us their cell phone #. We had set-up a flow of email and text messages that would be sent out through out the course of 4 weeks to our guests but with out a cell # that would only received part of the follow-up.

#### Vendor response

Thanks for the review, Eric!

The workflows help us keep in touch with our guests and members while at the same time creating an authentic sense of community amongst our spiritual family. I have learned that Culture is by Default of Design and text in church helps you design your culture rather than the alternative of what it would default to.

#### Cons

I would love the ability to know the average amount of text that we send out a month. Knowing that information would allow us to measure it and utilize our resources best or know when we are not using it the best.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I appreciate the ability to set up workflows to ensure I am staying on top of communication. When people respond I am able to engage at a deeper level.

#### Cons

I would love the ability to create my own automated workflow template that I would be able to open and set the specific date to trigger the workflow. All the templates are designed to trigger based on the day an individual is added to the group. I would like to have people be able to join a group over a period of time and then all receive the same communications on the same day. For example, have people sign up for an event through the month of Sept but then everyone receives a series of sms during the week prior to the event the first Sunday of Oct.

#### Vendor response

John, thanks for the amazing review! You do have the ability to send your messages on a specific date. For your example, you want to create a group and allow people to sign up for the whole month of September. Then, schedule group messages to that group on the exact dates you choose in October. You won't need to use the Automated Workflows to do this. If you need help, contact our support team we'd love to help.

### Email? What is that?

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The ability to communicate with a wide range of people. I see over and over again how much more people will respond to a text communication than an email. If you need people to actually come to an event or sign up for an event, text in church is the way to go.

#### Cons

Overall it is a great application and don't have too many complaints.

#### Vendor response

Thanks for the great review!
