Great Tool for Entire School Staff
It has helped behavior improve in my classroom tremendously. Students know that if I give or take a point, their teacher knows immediately. It's also a great way to communicate easily with parents. Most parents have a mobile phone and they tend to check their phones frequently. It is faster than email.
PROSI like that students/classes can be shared with other teachers. If a student does well in Art or has an issue in Music, that teacher can click on Dojo and either give or take away Dojo points from the student. You don't have to wait until the student returns to the classroom and try to find time to talk to the teacher about the issue. It is super quick and easy to use. Bring your ClassDojo up on a computer, iPad, cell phone, etc. and have it open and ready for use. When you need to give or add points, you can do so immediately. If I give a point to a student in my room, the teacher is automatically notified on her device with the point popping up on the student's icon. It's a great way to communicate not only between classrooms regarding shared students, but also with parents that sign up. It includes an email feature with parents that is super handy.
CONSSometimes it is a little tricky to set up the sharing of a classroom with other teachers. It would be nice to have more of a step by step set of directions to go along with Class Dojo. The directions are included, but it would be helpful if they were more concise and step by step and addressed each area.

ClassDojo: a friend for teachers.
As I said, I can enhance the communication with parents, and also have a track of the conversations, agreements, or anything. It is great for me to share pictures and videos of what students work in class.
PROSI like that it's great to maintain good communication with parents, I hope they can include more things to support instruction.
CONSI think if they include some way to create polls or surveys, also some other ways to support instruction would be more usable.
Reason for choosing ClassDojo
I think it's more popular among the school community.

Class Dojo - Review from a Parent
Overall, this software has helped tremendously to stay in contact with teachers and school admin staff without relying on personal email accounts.
PROSClass Dojo allows you to stay connected between teachers and your students. As long as teachers use it, it provides constant communication that is easily accessible. With multiple students, it consolidates all the messages into one area and allows for private messages to each teacher. If you have multiple students, and the school sends out a mass message, you only get the message once which I really like. It also allows you to upload documents to your child's portfolio for the teacher to view.
CONSIf you have multiple students, the private messaging can be a little hectic especially if a specials teacher emails you. That specials teacher might also have your other children, so it is necessary to figure out what student they are messaging you about. It can be confusing and takes a minute to figure it out.

Great way to stay in the know with your childrens Teacher!
My overall experience with ClassDojo has been great. I have no complaints.
PROSI love that this is a convenient want to communicate with my childrens teacher if i need to get a message to her or them. I also love that I can scroll through the feed and see any pictures the teachers has posted of activities that the class has been doing recently.
CONSThe only thing that I dislike about ClassDojo is that as a parent, we're required to use this app to communicate with the teacher, but not all features are available with the free account. I think all features should be readily available if we're required to use the app.

Great for Teachers and Parents
Overall this is us greatly effective tool! You can keep track of almost anything and you can use it both as a class tool and individual student tool.
PROSI've used ClassDojo for about five years. It's great to use as a behavior management tool with your classes and also a great way to document information with parents.
CONSI will say that as much as I love the tool I really hope that they can get their issues with iPhones repaired quickly. Sometimes I am notified that I have new messages but when I click on them it won't show me the messages.

Loyal ClassDojo User!
I love it!
PROSI’ve used Class Dojo since 2015 and I don’t imagine getting rid of it anytime soon! It is basically my class Instagram page but is safe to protect my students. I use it everyday to communicate with parents, post class photos, and utilize for whole class management. Class Dojo also saved me when we transitioned to distance learning in 2020. Students used the portfolio feature to turn in classwork. I love this app!
CONSI wish parents could sign up for events using class dojo. That would prevent me from going through sign up genius too create parent teacher conference signups. I also wish class dojo would offer rewards like class tag. I almost switched to class tag because of this but decided to keep class dojo.

ClassDojo helps keep communication open with parents
It is worth every bit of time getting on there to have a good relationship with the parents.
PROSAs a teacher I now find it simpler to exchange various updates and images with my parents thanks to ClassDojo. I have been using ClassDojo around 2-3 years now and have only slightly had issues, which were mostly navigating the site. But using ClassDojo has not only kept me in contact with parents but their homeroom teachers as well, and lets me posts the fun things my students do when I have them in my classes.
CONSI seem to get easily lost when trying to navigate the site. I think the screen can be too busy so I overlook the particular thing I am looking for.

Great For Parent Communication
This is a very unique and nice app in that it allows parents the ease of seeing how their child is doing throughout the day. School can be difficult, but this is a great tool for teachers to quickly state something a student did great today, or something they need to work on. It can be accessed on any mobile device. I personally check on my phone usually, and don't have any problems. It's always fun to see the high fives, and know what they were for.
CONSMaybe the only con is that I think you can pay to have tokens or something. I can't really recall, so it's not much of a con to myself.

Good app, but not ideal for high school
This app is very cute, easy to set up, and with some time, very customizable. And it helped with formative assessments. But, ultimately, I stopped using it and went back to just using index cards. However, I think that I'm not the target for this app and that teachers of younger students would love it!
PROSThis app was recommended to me to help with class participation in the classes I teach. I wanted to be able to keep track of what students were accomplishing in real time. Some examples of things I wanted to track were answering a question correctly, answering a question incorrectly but persisting to get the right answer, helping another student, or asking an insightful question. Basically, I wanted to use this to help with formative assessments in my classes. I felt like documenting these thing in real time would give me data that would help me teach better, identify issues that students had frequently, and report information to parents or administrators if something came up.
CONSI used it for several years, and it was OK. Setting up the categories that I wanted to keep track of took some time but it wasn't too hard. And, I was able to copy categories among classes. I also found it someone easy to set up classes. But actually using it wasn't fast enough for me. I had to click 3-4 times to document one thing. I thought it would be quicker. I can see younger students finding it cute that the little icon wiggles before the pop up appears. But I wanted something faster. I never felt comfortable having my students or parents download it and use it because it looks so juvenile. I wish there were different themes to choose. I just wouldn't be taken seriously as a teacher if they saw some of the art! I also wished that I could have had more flexibility with naming students and arranging them on the screen. Having them arranged like my seating chart would have helped a lot.

Gets Better Each School Year!
My overall experience has been excellent. My son's teacher has awarded him points each day since school began. ( One week ago) He is very excited to collect points for rewards! I have been able to message his teacher on the spur of the moment to inform her about a forgotten paper at home as well as to remind her to check his backpack for classroom supplies I gifted to her. Upcoming events and assignments are posted on the class update page making it easy to plan ahead and stay organized!!!! The cost is well worth having the Plus version. I get so many extra features for such a little monthly cost. You can actually pay upfront for the while year and it brings the monthly cost to less than five dollars a month! There is a free trial but you are not going to part with this software once you use it so the free trial is unnecessary!
PROSContinuously evolving! I had previous experience with this software but my son is older now and his teachers no longer use this app/software. My youngest just started school and I am pleased that his teacher is using ClassDojo! it is even better than I remember it and I was excited about it back then! The free version gives you the instant Real Time Talk feature. This is like a text type feature that allows you to talk back and forth with the teacher instantly. I have already used it three times in the first week of school! In addition the free version gives you access to the dashboard where you can find your child's "story". In this section the teacher can give points for good behavior such as "being ready to learn" and "staying on task". There is a monster avatar that the children can use the points to buy features and accessories for. The dashboard also allows you to see class updates, photos and announcements. The desktop version gives you access to all of the above features. If you download the app available for android as well as Iphones, you can award your child points at home for completing homework or other good behavior. The children can customize their monster and you can set goals for the week. If you buy ClassdDojo Plus for less than eight dollars a month you get even more features such as Progress Reports, unlimited points to award your child, extra monster parts that your child can earn that are not available with the free version.
CONSThere is nothing to not like. This app is an amazing addition to any school year for students, teachers and parents.

ClassDojo is a great tool to use in the classroom!
I really like using ClassDojo in my classroom as a way to stay connected to my parents and families. It is very convenient that you can print reports right from the website so the parents can see their child's week overall, along with real time communication on the message board. I'm glad my colleague told me about this website. It has made behavior reports and communication with parents so much easier and convenient. Almost all the teachers in my school use ClassDojo for the same reason, especially with the pandemic and having to have a way to talk to parents when everyone was at home.
PROSI like that parents have the capability to see how their child is doing in real time. The app is very useful and can be accessed from many different devices. The message feature is also nice because you can respond quickly to a message, not worrying about sending an email. The message board is also a great way to keep a record of conversations that can be referenced later.
CONSI wish that there was a way to search through the message board to find certain conversations instead of having to read through the whole feed. A key word search would be nice to pinpoint the conversation you are trying to recall. Another feature that would be nice is if there was another way to connect with parents. Right now you can print the codes or send a text to the parent. It would be nice for there to be an option for an automated call to go out to the parents as well reminding them to sign up for their child or telling them there is an important message for them to see.

ClassDojo in the Classroom
ClassDojo is an essential component to any teaching classroom, especially with the diversity of learners and the uniqueness of culture every student brings. It provides a crucial incentive for students to be at their best.
PROSClassDojo is a must have for creating a culture of respect, accountability to parents and incentives for students to perform at their optimal level. Fun and easy to use, students love the interactive Dojo points they earn when they perform. The software is free to use and customizable. It is not only for educators. It can be used in multiple settings. Points for certain behaviors can be set. The software can be used on laptops, tablets and even phones. The software creatively allows for students to choose their monster, giving them ownership. It allows the user to inform parents of how students are doing and even tells you if the parents have opened the message.
CONSThe only problem that I encountered was that it minimized the actual conversations that I had with parents in person. Like any software, the user must be extra careful this does not replace parents coming and talking with the teacher. Many parents thought ClassDojo replaced the annual parent conferences. I had to let them know that this is an essential tool but does not replace us meeting together.
Reasons for switching to ClassDojo
Remind provides instant communication to parents but does little to provide incentives to students to perform at their highest ability.

Classroom Life Saver
Overall, kids love DoJo. It's easy, quick, and effective. It's a life saver with parent communication if connected, for tracking through the reports, and for quick feedback to the kids!
PROSI love that Dojo creates 'monster' icons for each student to represent them. It's easy to give students 'points' for expected behaviors or behaviors that go above and beyond. I also enjoy that I can give a whole class a point for something. It's easy to take away points for unexpected behaviors as well. There is a great report that attaches to each students' day as well with what they earned or lost points for. Adding parapros, specials teachers, special education teachers, etc is easy and they can give and take points from a class as well. DoJo also can be connected to parents, so parents can keep track of their child's day, get a report, or communicate with the teacher! The points earned and taken away can be modified for specific target behaviors as well rather than a blanket one is all set up. Points can be managed through your computer or through the phone add as well for easy use!
CONSI truly don't have anything I dislike about Dojo. It's easy, free, and quick to use! I have nothing to recommend for changes.

Great app for school community communication
Fantastic tool that has lots of cool classroom displays and character education resources. Students are motivated when this is used by all teachers and it has greatly improved Teacher-Parent communication.
PROSThis FREE app enables teachers to communicate with parents about their child's behaviour, and classroom activities, school information, events, homework. For students they can receive (or lose) points according to teacher set criteria for behaviour and dersired skills/qualitities. When used as part of elearning the student portfolio allow students to upload pics and their work. Teachers can share videos, pictures, (schedule or directly send) individual or class messages for students and parents. Students can have their own accounts. We use the behaviour points to give awards and the behaviour reports are issued along with the school's academic reports. Administrators can post whole school posts.
CONSIt would be great if the School Story where administrators can post would allow video postings - not only messages, docs and/or a picture. The main administrator would benefit from being able to access the conversations between parents and teachers.

Used Class Dojo in middle school classes for three years.
I know this tool is generally marketed for elementary classes and teachers, but I heard about it and thought I'd give it a try. I loved it! And the students (7th graders) responded well. So what are my favorite features? First, it's easy to use and set up in a class. You can literally roll it out to your class in 3 minutes. There is not a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into it. Second, it provides an instantaneous and digital method for positive reinforcement. Teaching middle schools requires reinforcement- ClassDojo helps me keep track of that and keeps me conscious of the fact that I need to reward positive behavior and effort. Third, students really get engaged. They like to be rewarded and compete, so I also use it as a scoreboard during activities or long-term projects. Last, I never made use of this feature, but there is a parent connection to, which creates a buy-in and awareness at home and keeps parents in the loop. I'm a big fan of using ClassDojo in a positive manner - not shaming students - but highlighting the good things I saw in the classroom.

Classdojo for Teachers and Pupils
Overall, ClassDojo is a complete package for lower elementary students and teachers. User-friendly with so many features to enhance and modify class behaviours.
PROSClassDojo is a very user-friendly application for teachers. I would say that it is suitable for lower grades 1-4. Teachers can award or deduct points to their students for both positive and negative reinforcement. One of the great features is the messaging board where teachers can send instant messages home to parents or share photos of what they are doing in class. These messages are confined to only the parent of the child and no other message posts or responses from the parent can be seen by other parents. There is also sounds allocated to the awarding of positive or negative behaviour that makes students perk up and check their own behaviours. I also love the animated video clips by the ClassDojo characters that teach students things like growth mindset.
CONSAs a grade 6 teacher, I find that the avatars for this application are more suitable for younger grades as upper elementary/middle school pupils are too cool for this look.

ClassDojo Tool Kit is Great!
I truly enjoy using ClassDojo for all of the Toolkit features it has. I use the Random Student Generator, the Timer, and the Noise Meter almost daily. The kids love to be able to visually see how much time is left until we are moving on to the next thing. It really helps them to stay focused and complete their assignment. I enjoy using the Noise Meter, because it definitely helps keep the volume down in my classroom. I don't use the Random Student Generator that often, but when I do it is much easier than pulling out my popsicle sticks with names on them:) Overall the tools available are fun to use and user friendly.
CONSWith the features I use, I don't have any complaints. I did choose not to use the discipline/behavior part of ClassDojo. In my opinion some students are not motivated by public display and sometimes it can backfire.

Dynamic Teaching with ClassDojo
Overall, I loved using ClassDojo as a fourth-grade English and History teacher to manage the classroom and utilize other tools to enhance the learning environment. The students enjoyed using ClassDojo because of the engaging monsters and the ability to receive positive points for their behaviors, such as staying on task or helping another student.
PROSWhat I liked most about ClassDojo is that it is an engaging, interactive classroom management tool for elementary school teachers. It is a convenient, multipurpose software with a toolkit of features designed to support teachers in the classroom. It not only allows teachers to reward students for positive behaviors, but it also includes a digital portfolio for students to showcase their work. Additionally, I love that this software enhances parent-teacher communication by enabling teachers to message parents and keep in contact with each other, especially about students’ progress and daily classroom happenings. Finally, it is free software!
CONSWhat I liked least about this software is that it is suitable for younger students and may be immature for high school students. Additionally, it focuses heavily on a reward-punishment points system that encourages extrinsic rather than intrinsic behaviors. Also, it may not always be feasible to be on the application constantly to reward or punish students with the points system. Furthermore, it does not sufficiently track learning other than the digital portfolios feature.

Keep In Touch!
I thought the program would be a bit cumbersome for teachers to be in constant contact with the students and parents but I was wrong. Many teachers found that this program was a non threatening child centered way to keep in touch with the families.
PROSOur teachers love that they can keep in contact with parents and the parents love that the teacher keeps in contact with them. Our teachers have used ClassDojo to keep in contact with the children at home during virtual learning. Assignments can be exchanged and students and parents kept on schedule. Many teachers preferred this software to Google Classroom for their younger students.
CONSBasically I have not heard any negative comments about the program from those who use it.

Enriching your students' education
I use ClassDojo on the parent side of this application. ClassDojo has helped me in catching up with my child's education process. While I'd love to sit down and talk about my child's daily activities, that is something not interesting to do for my child. With ClassDojo, I can get the latest updates, photos, scores etc from his daily activities and we spend family times doing things my child love the most: playing board games.
PROSClassDojo is an excellent application which gather teachers, students and parents in one friendly environment. Teachers can create virtual class, assign task and give scores to the students. They can also send reports, photos and messages to parents through the message service. ClassDojo's interface is similar to a social media, thus familiar to everyone. ClassDojo has made it possible for teachers, students and parents to communicate in positive online environment. This environment will connect school activities with parental guidance at home, increasing the parental engagement on the students' education process.
CONSIt would be great if ClassDojo allows users to determine custom size for their graphics/photos. At this moment, most of the graphics in ClassDojo required to be square-sized.
