Easy to use communication tool with educators and parents
Overall, it is a great tool and I enjoy using it. I like that they have an app or can use it on my computer. I just hope they make the photo feature easier to use and less clunky!
PROSI like that I'm easily able to write messages to the parents of our students. Each week we send an update of what is going on in class, share photos, send any important reminders, and highlights of the week. Parents can "appreciate" or "like", comment, and message us through it as well. We can also share links to important events as well. We have it set up so we can choose grade levels, teachers, etc. who we want to send the message. We can also change settings so it is pushed out right away or for parents to get notifications at their preferred time. All school announcements are also used on it. Our health screening survey during COVID was also done on ParentSquare so it was multifuncitonal.
CONSI dislike that it is not user-friendly to add attachments and photos, this really could be improved to make it easier. It also takes photos a long time to upload. I've had the app crash when downloading a few times. The app allows me to add photos from my phone or iPad, but it is confusing how to select them and doesn't always work.

ParentSquare is Great for Schools - if you can get it set up.
Overall it is a fabulous program once it is set up. There are a couple of tech things that could be easier but overall it is a very easy program to navigate, post, and share with a wide audience.
PROSParentSquare is almost everything we have ever wanted in a program. It stores parent phone numbers and emails, communicates with them in their preferred method, and is easy to navigate. It really is a great program!
CONSThe program was a beast to get started and implemented. They put out papers that are supposed to explain how to set it up but even our tech company had trouble understanding what needed to be done. I really struggled to set it up. I told them if I had known how hard the set-up would be, I'm not sure I would have purchased it. That said, once it is set up, it's a great program.
Reasons for switching to ParentSquare
Parent Square keeps the contact information updated daily. Constant Contact would need an upload if you needed to send out emergency information so you were sure you got everyone. That's time you don't have in an emergency.

ParentSquare
Its been great. It is a user friendly product that helps us communicate at many levels.
PROSIt is an easy product to use, and also has a video library to learn how to do anything.
CONSIf this is used by all teachers, then it works really well. We are rolling it out now to our district but teachers already feel comfortable with their own apps. If this becomes the standard, it will be great.

A mess
I do not like anything about it, I wish we were not forced to use this.
CONSAs a parent using this, this platform is a mess. Was difficult to install, has not synced my kids’ information correctly, and I can’t edit anything. If there is a problem, I have to call the school and ask them to fix it, versus being able to edit my own profile. The customer support was not helpful, either. I REALLY dislike this software.
Reasons for switching to ParentSquare
Was forced to by school district.
Vendor Response
I'm sorry that you've had trouble getting your account set up! ParentSquare synchronizes with each school's internal student information database, containing details provided by families (on forms, during enrollment, etc.). Your details come from the student database to make sure only actual parents and guardians are registered and student privacy is maintained. It sounds like your school(s) doesn't allow changes in ParentSquare which is very common -if they make the changes in the school database, ParentSquare will automatically update after the daily sync. I'm sorry if you reached out to us and didn't get the help you wanted: school administrators are actually the point of contact for parents. Our Support team is geared to support the schools, especially as we're not authorized to change any contact details: only schools can, to maintain security. We do have FAQs for parents here: http://blog.parentsquare.com/blog/2020/7/15/help-please-frequently-asked-parent-questions

Great teacher/parent communication
Excellent tool. Great way for my parents to keep me updated on any concerns or questions. It pops up on the parent's phone like a text message if that's their preferred way to receive messages.
PROSIt streamlines parent communication or your announcements. If, for example, you have open house meetings, you can create a calendar and have parents schedule the time they'd like to meet based on the availability on the calendar. Let the technology do the tedious work while you focus on something else. I can attach videos, pictures, documents, links and flyers to my messages.
CONSWhen you're in the middle of composing a message and you click out of it, whether by accident or to do something else, it does not save the message you were already composing. Everything is gone. You'll have to remember what you wrote and type it all over again.

Parent Square daily user
The parents that use this app find it helpful. I do like the feature where messages go to text. It's been very helpful when the health office needs to locate a parent. Parents are not always able to answer phone calls at work but will usually answer a text.
PROSI like the feature where most non-English speakers can communicate with me and the software translates into the language of their choice. I do however wish there were a few more language choices. We have 17 languages in our building .
CONSIt's very frustrating that it's not easier to find past messages( from months ago) from a specific person. I needed to track a communication history with a parent for our social worker and it was hard to quickly find the info I needed.

Don't be lost in your choice deciding which product to find yourself in.
It's technically good in that a live customer support agency can assist.
PROSMaps are the most needed needed and updates ate frequent.
CONSIt's missing the majority features others have but isn't necessary for its core audience.

Confusingggggg!
I'm sure there are good intentions and plans for this app, but it's not currently user friendly and hope that is a focal point of developers.
PROSThe apps is good for educators to send communications to parents and students via smartphone. The pop up notifications allow for instant knowledge that a new announcement has been posted.
CONSUsing the apps is extremely confusing and not user friendly. Participating in polls, or "liking" posts and making reactions was impossible for me to figure out (I still can't do it and I consider myself pretty tech savvy). Forms from the app couldn't be completed on my smart phone, I had to log onto the computer to do it which defeated the purpose.
Vendor Response
I'm sorry you're frustrated by the ParentSquare app! The app is one of many ways parents, teachers, students and staff can access everything from district announcements to one-to-one messaging with teachers, for multiple schools, and multiple districts. For posts you should be able to click the HEART icon next to the post title to appreciate it right from the list view. Or you can open the message, and scroll to the bottom, click Appreciate on the right hand side. I wonder what OS version you're running - if it's recent, these instructions should be valid. Polls - we do have a built in survey tool that's pretty straightforward, but not all schools or districts use it - some will link to an external site. Since schools have so many varied forms for enrollment, address verification, media releases, covid-19 health screening, they can be complex on mobile. I'd love to know more details as we're constantly improving the platform based on feedback. - Paula and the ParentSquare Team

ParentSquare for seamless communication
Overall, I love having ParentSquare as our unified communication tool. Families know to look for important information on ParentSquare.
PROSFor most features, ParentSquare is easy to use. I can quickly message a parent and hear back equally quickly because of the mobile app. Messaging individuals or posting to all families is very straightforward, quick and easy.
CONSIf you get into some other features such as parent/teacher conferences, polls, etc, ParentSquare is a little less user friendly. Things can be buried and if you only use them once a year, it's hard to remember where it's buried. Unless you can phrase your question perfectly, support is not always helpful.

I like you can view statistics of each message that is sent down to delivered/undelivered, read/unread. Makes it great to know if my students are reading the message I am sending out.
CONSI have a couple of groups setup to communicate with the various clubs I run. I've noticed within those groups there is no way to print off a master list of just the students names.

Seamless Parent Communication with ParentSquare
ParentSquare is a smooth way to communicate easily with groups of parents. I am a specialist at my school....(think: Music, Art, Gym, etc.) so I teach a large number of groups of students. ParentSquare makes it so I don't need endless distribution lists to reach out to my families. Also, parents can easily send me a direct message. It also allows me to communicate one on one with families, and when they send me a direct message, it pops into my email inbox. It's easy to send updates on learning, including photos and videos of students. Overall, I think ParentSquare is a great tool for teachers to communicate with families.
CONSI can't think of much that I would change about the software.
Reasons for switching to ParentSquare
At my old school we used PreciousStatus and it was terribly hard to use. I am so glad we use ParentSquare at my new school.

Attendance review
It is useful and easy to use, but does need some improvement with being able to forward and print off a message
PROSThe product is easy to use and that I can reach out to parents instead of using the phone.
CONSI would like to get a copy of my email to a parent sent to me after I send it to the parent. I have also found that when a teacher tries to forward me a copy of a message from a parent I do not get the message.
