Lucidlink changed the way we work

It has helped taken us to another level of productivity. We were able to remove all of our dated storage devices and work directly off cloud storage which has sped up access to staff to work from anywhere. We have been thrilled with being able to take all of our siloed data and consolidate it all into one place allowing us to unify our storage and have everyone work off the same true set of data.

Pros

The ability to run this on multiple OS options and have it interface well with a number of server based software applications. We replaced our on premise storage in all offices and now have direct cloud based file shares accessible from anywhere. It can be installed as a windows service or a user app depending on your need and the multiple options for mount points allows to to replicate/replace any on perm storage you could be using. You can choose from a multiude of cloud storage providers to fit your need and budget allowing you to hit whatever your price point needs are. The software is simple to mange and setup, and SSO makes it even easier now for end users. The ability to set your upload download speeds also helps you manage traffic flow should that be an issue on your network. The file locking has been huge for us as well.

Cons

We havent run into any at this point, this product has been a game changer for staff working from home.

Reasons for Choosing LucidLink

Cost, Ease of use and the fact that it was one of the few that also worked well with all of our file types and servers.

Reasons for Switching to LucidLink

The switch was made to bring all of our files/work into one location. Allowing us better access from both in and out of the office without needing to rely on VPN or very expensive network circuits in the office space.

Ridiculously Brillian!

Overall the experience has been great and we have pushed LL to it's limits, transfering and streaming terabytes of data. Yes the product is in it's early stages of development, but the feattures that are present do work reliably, which is all that I coudl ever ask for.

Pros

It works. It really works. The ridiculous thing is that LucidLink make a bold claim and they really deliver. I knew about LL for a few years, but have always been sceptical of it. It was almost shocking to find out when we tested it out that it worked exactly as advertised! What I like the most about it is that it allows to use creative tools designed for LAN collaboration over the internet. For example, Premier Productions. We are now able to have remote editors working from home with the same ease and convenience as if they where working in-house, and do it at pretty much at no extra cost (given the time and expenses saved on shipping of drives). Which is mind boggling! LucidLink has provided us with a ZERO COMPROMISE solution for remote collaboration which is something that may companies claim, yet non except LucidLink have managed to truly delivered on. LucidLink is: -More reliable than OneDrive/Google/Dropbox etc.. -Faster OneDrive/Google/Dropbox etc.. -Easier to deploy than OneDrive/Google/Dropbox etc.. -Real time streaming and remote collaboration really works as advertised, no caveats. Except the obvious dependency on strength of your internet connection.

Cons

Because the LL teams is small, some quality of life featture are still missing and will probably take a while to implement. Asking end users to dabble around in CLI to perform simple actions such as clearing cache or mounting multiple filespaces is not something that I wish I had to do as understandibly many users get intimidated by CLI. But I hope these functions will be added to the GUI in the future.

Reasons for Choosing LucidLink

Lucidlink is a vastly superior and better suited solution to solving out specific challenges, both in functionality and price.

Reasons for Switching to LucidLink

Our previous solutions where either not cost effective or too cumbersome to set up when it came to short term collaboratrions and did nto provide the functionality that LucidLink does.

We Love LucidLink

LucidLink eliminates the need for our data handlers to deal with S3 or SFTP connections. With LucidLink all of the data appears on their workstation just like files on their native file system. We regularly find new ways to leverage LucidLink to simplify our workflows.

Pros

Our private data is not available on the local file system unless the computer is on and logged in to LucidLink. This important layer of security combined with the ease of use of a locally mounted volume makes LucidLink a killer application for accessible and secure shared files.

Cons

I wish LucidLink could be layered on top of existing S3 buckets full of files. Sadly, that's not possible.

Reasons for Choosing LucidLink

LucidLink disables access to the files when not logged in. Dropbox can't do that.

Reasons for Switching to LucidLink

LucidLink helped speed up the manual steps of our workflows.

Unlimited Cloud File Storage

I have been looking for a solution for migrating local data to the cloud for a long time. Normal s3 object storage does not offer such security in the form of file encryption and such quick access to files. Lucidlink enabled me to migrate business files to the cloud.

Pros

LucidLink enables the use of s3 object storage as a cloud file storage. Simple to install. Very simple in administering users and access shares. I use LucidLink with my own s3 object storage as the central company file server. Thanks to this solution, authorized employees have access to the necessary files. I also use LucidLink as a backup target. The perfect solution,

Cons

For starters, it's difficult to understand how to make the most of LucidLink. It seems that you can use many different file spaces simultaneously, but in practice it has not worked. It's best to use one file space on one device.

Reasons for Choosing LucidLink

LucidLink offers the most advanced technology. Files are stored only in one place - in the file space. Synchronization of the amount of data I have (over 2 TB) with local computers is not realistic. That's why I chose LucidLink.

Reasons for Switching to LucidLink

My QNAP storage after a failure showed me the threat of losing locally stored data. That's why I thought of the cloud as an alternative.

Rock solid and simple file sharing solution for everyone

Our experience with LucidLink has been excellent. Their support staff has been incredibly responsive and proactive in helping us. We have seen steady refinements to the user experience and the core service has remained a solid solution for our file storage/sharing needs.

Pros

LucidLink allows our company to combine all the benefits of cloud-hosted storage with the ease of a mapped drive on our machines. We use the LucidLink client on Mac, Linux and Windows 10 to share media files between editors and other staff. The initial setup was straightforward and our users were able to install the client on their own machines without any assistance. There have been no problems with the LucidLink client and we've seen a steady stream of improvements to the user interface and ease-of-use in the admin tools. When we had an issue with a specific Linux distribution, the support staff went to great lengths to help me troubleshoot and address the issue. We use LucidLink to connect to our own Wasabi storage buckets and it has proven to be an affordable and reliable answer for our video and podcast production workflows.

Cons

In recent months there have been improvements to the granularity of admin controls. During our initial implementation, there were some limitations in how I was able to assign permissions, but the LucidLink team has been steadily improving in these areas and we are preparing to take advantage of the new options.

Reasons for Choosing LucidLink

We chose LucidLink primarily for it's cost-effectiveness per terabyte of storage. It beats out cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive on price and ease of use.

LucidLink helped save our workflow and output

Our business last year and this year was to help schools across the nation produce their virtual graduation ceremonies. To do this we needed to collect assets and organize thousands of students pictures /videos and names. Using lucid link increased our organization process and allowed our 60 contracted workers to get the assets they needed to edit with ease. A life saver for our graduation clients.

Pros

The best part about this software is the ease of use. The fact that we can put everything in a folder and organize it to our specific needs ,and everyone on the team can access that and work of that is perfect for us. Using premiere pro with this software helped us edit our clients videos remotely and with speed.

Cons

Luidlink does everything we need it to. We will continue to use them over box and dropbox.

Reasons for Choosing LucidLink

Lucidlink's interface is like a common drive on your computer and is simple to use.

Reasons for Switching to LucidLink

The access issues of Google drive and giving permissions always seems to delay the process with clients and contractors. Google drive also doesn't allow our editors to edit off a drive. The constant uploading and downloading from google drive is a nightmare as well. Having a drive to just work off of and not have to constantly download assets is amazing,

Fantastic, works really well with our Kyno workflow!

Pros

We did a test with both Dropbox and LucidLink. For our workflow LucidLink wins big, since it mounts on the computer desktop like a local drive, works extremely well with Kyno our video asset management software. Dropbox just didn't work for us. I should note we are only using proxies in the cloud at the moment. Very happy with LucidLink.

Cons

Before we purchased, it did take a bit to get connected to someone at the company, for questions I couldn't find online. However once we did connect, the service and support were excellent.
