Calibration Management Software


Indysoft Calibration Management is a hybrid maintenance management solution that caters to businesses of all sizes across various industries such as aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, research and more. Key features include compliance management, multi-station management, asset management, label printing, due-date tracking and statistical-data reporting.

Indysoft Calibration Management offers users a process-modeling engine that allows them to re-configure the event-driven workflows with checkpoints, rule sets and documentation at various points along the equipment path. It also provides users with a centralized dashboard, process flowcharts, foreign-language support and multiple views and sessions.

Additionally, IndySoft Calibration Management supports integration with Firebird, SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL databases. Services are offered on a monthly subscription basis. Perpetual licenses are also offered to users for a one-time fee.

The solution can either be deployed on-premise or hosted in the cloud and offers support via phone, email and an online knowledge base.

Best Metrology software in the business! We run the whole lab off of the software. Great support.

Record keeping. We run the whole lab on this software. From supplier control to Document control systems and corrective action. Huge benefit in being able to link all these systems together. You could adapt this software to anything.

Pros

Configuration. Being able to adapt the software to the needs of the lab while staying in the framework of the application. Not that you need to change that much out of the box.

Cons

System does not support electronic signatures from customers at time of pick up. Would like to see a system that allows for signatures such as FedEx, UPS. Customer comes to lab and can use a signature pad to sign for equipment picked up. On-Site or delivery would allow for signature that customer received the equipment or service.

A Gage InSite lite could be used on a Tablet PC that is synced with the application to allow for this.

IndySoft has revolutionized our ISO 17025 metrology lab and keeps us organized and flexible.

Customizable business workflows, enhanced customer management, comprehensive asset tracking histories.

Pros

We have used IndySoft for the past 10 years to fully manage our ISO 17025 commercial metrology lab as we service a very large and diverse customer base nationwide. What we like most about the software is the ability to completely customize our workflows to mold the processes around our business, rather than conforming the business to how the software operates. The capability of fine-tuning the customization with custom scripts and programming is unmatched by any other calibration software we've come across. The support from all staff, consistent software updates and fast response to any issues has never faltered over the years, and we remain confident that IndySoft is the best solution for our business needs.

Cons

For some of our users who are less technically-inclined, the software can seem daunting for performing what might be considered basic functions. Tasks can sometimes be buried under a deep layer of menu options but with the recent addition of a fully-customizable Dashboard interface, these tasks can be more exposed as needed for ease of access.

As with any software updates, occasionally bugs are introduced that did not exist in prior versions. Most often, these bugs are minor but we will occasionally encounter bugs after updates that adversely affect our production. Luckily, given IndySoft's responsiveness, these issues are usually quickly addressed and rectified in a reasonable time frame. Given our experiences, we approach every published update with caution and maintain a test environment in order to fully vet each update before deployment to production.

Indysoft is a robust and very flexible software

The software helps us be competitive in the calibration market offering convenience of using Dataview keeps us at pace with most competitors

Pros

It has the capability to tailor to different needs of every customer out there. We deal with various industries from Aerospace to BioPharmaceutical and Indysoft has the flexibility to meet different requirements. The company does not stop developing the software to keep up not only with technology but the constantly evolving quality regulations

Cons

The steep learning curve is the most challenging part of this software and it is also because of its flexibility to be customized being the reason why. The company should improve the Help Manual (for advanced users including report customization) and provide more information

IndySoft has helped to greatly streamline and simplify management of our calibration equipment.

Customizable templates, easy reporting, automated form/label generation, quick visual status indication, auto numbering scheme.

Pros

My favorite feature of the software so far has been the ability to create custom templates for common tool families, and easily modify all associated records by changing the template.

Cons

I wish you could setup custom shortcuts, as well as have the option to choose a custom color scheme that is easier on the eyes.

Overall, the best asset management/calibration software out there.

Organization and process efficiency.

Pros

Flexible, powerful, and can do just about anything. The customer support is the best I have experienced with software. Highly customizable and can adapt to changing business practices easily. Once set-up correctly, it is efficient to use and provides a high level of organization even with large amounts of customers and equipment.

Cons

Can be buggy at times. Have the ability to personalize, but that is often lost as the default views. Permissions do not work as expected sometimes. Workflow customizations can be difficult to understand and implement. Some set-up and features are not very intuitive. Often times I'll have to call to understand how to use certain features - but the customer service is the best and never give me a problem when I have to call often.

Daily user of this software as a Calibration Tech.

Helps me keep my day-to-day calibration data organized and reportable.

Pros

The Indysoft software has been reliable and relatively straight-forward to use. A large variety of reporting options are available. Gage calibration data is quick and easy to import to the system from outside calibration labs.

Cons

A variety of functions on the software just aren't intuitive and calling in for assistance is not always a valid option.

I am very satisfied.

Paperless system, 21 CFR part 11 compliance. Reduction data entry errors.

Pros

High configurability and creating customized reports are very helpful. System is very stable. Customer support is exceptional.

Cons

Unable to work simultaneously at more than one window. I believe this was fixed in latest version. Limited choices in calibration event for test results (pass, fail, limited)

Excellent calibration re-call system software

Helped tremendously with calibration ISO audit issues

Pros

Functionality is easy to use and to teach others to use. License cost is minimal compared to a lot of other programs and the yearly maintenance support fees are pennies compared to Fluke or Keysight.

Cons

Some of the help files aren't specific enough about creating reports. Changing the flow trees and display aspects are tricky but the Indysoft support crew is very willing to help create the exact feel for the needs one wants!

Lots of power, features, and functionality. Can be non-intuitive to use and difficult to implement.

Pros

Lots of features and functionality. When we are looking for a new feature, it is usually there hidden under some rock. Customer support is now quite good. It seems there are a number of positive changes that have occurred in the last year or two in the company, product, and support.

Cons

The documentation / help files, while extensive, still do not do an adequate job of documenting everything that is in the product. The Uncertainty Module is very difficult to implement especially to thoroughly handle all conditions and calculations can be very slow. Initial implementation was very difficult & training was poor.

IndySoft is absolutely the best calibration management software I have ever used!

IndySoft has streamlined calibration for me at two separate companies, helping me to pass through seven major calibration audits without a finding. It has made it much easier to log and document calibrations both internally and from external vendors. It has unlimited storage for documents to each piece of equipment and allows you to organize those files per each event entry. The interface is very user friendly and can be customized to your organizations exact needs. It is packed with powerful data searching features, and amazing controls that allow your company to decide the exact flow of that equipment must follow during its calibration process. You can link your company's calibration procedures directly to each piece of equipment. I have used other software packages like Gage Control, Gage Trak, and EnGage, and of course the often used Excel, and none can come close to the function of IndySoft. This software is very powerful and just keeps getting better!

Pros

IndySoft is incredibly user friendly, straight forward and packed with powerful customization features. It allows your organization to determine exactly what features and level of database access each user has. As an administrator you have full access to change any data that needs to be cleaned up. I have used this extensively to rebuild two separate databases filled with errors. If you are halfway technically minded and know the right questions to ask, IndySoft support is quick to answer and resolve your technical issues. The learning curve for this software is small, as it is very intuitive with its fully interactive and customizable Flowchart interface on its home page. Most users can perform all of their functions from two main screens "Home" and "Equipment View".

Seaching your data is very simple with IndySoft's easy to use SQL search statements that you can select from a drop down menu.

IndySoft is built with traceability in mind. Every change that an end user makes is recorded in its Events history. Even if a user has system permissions to delete a history record, a hidden history log records this change with Who, When, and What information permenantly logged. It's auto generated Stickers, Certificates and packing slips.

Then there is the huge benefit of Mass Updates that you can perform on your own database. While this feature is limited to System Administrators, it makes the correction of bad data im-ported from from a competing software so VERY easy.

Cons

The only thing that can sometimes be inconvenient is that the software's two main data trunks, "Equipment" and "Events" do not talk during SQL searches. Other than that I do not really have any cons for this software package. This is not to say that it is perfect. It is not. That is what continuous improvement if for. But I believe that IndySoft is constantly working on making improvements. Most of the short comings I have encountered in my usage, IndySoft support has been able devise a highly serviceable work around that could be added to my application. Like when they wrote a script to auto fill the "description" field from three other fields. This one script greatly improved the consistency and search-ability of my database.

IndySoft is a great company, with great customer support.

Reliable tracking of calibrated equipment. Which is exactly what we wanted.

Pros

The software package we are using is very good for calibrations. We also use it to track our NIST Traceable equipment we send out for calibration.

Cons

In the permissions section, there are almost too many configurable options. It takes a good effort and attention to detail to get the profiles configured like you want them, but the good part is, you only have to set them up once.

IndySoft is a full service calibration management software system.

IndySoft has made my life much easier as a calibration lab manager. For me it saves a lot of time and makes my daily duties much more efficient. I looked at other CMS software and nothing compares to IndySoft in saving time and money.

Pros

IndySoft offers so much in one package. The company is always updating and making the software better for it's users. Customer service is top notch and quick to respond.

Cons

Like any sophisticated software system, there is a learning curve, but IndySoft offers great training and is always willing to help even years after you have purchased the software.

Great Customer support.

Pros

Software is easy to use once it is set up. Other technician can easily start using it once they as trained.

Cons

Sometime not as easy to use, will have to make some changes to make it apply to what we are doing here.

Indysoft Calibration System works great and is pretty much maintenance.

Pros

The support team is great! The program is pretty much maintenance free. It's performance is good too. Happy New Year. The pricing is very reasonable too.

Cons

The software could be more intuitive when configuring events and other items, navigation and such, but overall a good program.

Cons

I do not like the inability to create reports using gage level and event level data in the same report.

IndySoft provides us with a standard, ready to use database for instrument management.

Pros

The best feature is the capability to import/export instrument records between our database and our supplier.

Cons

Customizing the database can be challenging enough to warrant full-time attention, and not solely be a side activity.

Product is very easy to use. We have been using IndySoft since 2014.

Pros

User friendly, customizable, great customer service. We are not a Calibration service provider. We use this in our plant and we have outside Calibration service providers work in our system to perform our calibrations. The staff at IndySoft customized the system for our needs. Our contractors find it very easy to navigate within the system. We are currently looking to add additional Calibration certs for some filter testing and have found the support and flexibility of IndySoft and the development staff a joy to work with. Very professional and customer service oriented.

Cons

I have not found anything on this system that I do not like. If I had to pick one thing it would be the online help menu. It is not easy to find the topics I am looking for by using the search "Key word" function.

Unlimited event types.

Cons

Limited number of available fields in equipment finder results grid.
Limited vendor fields
Limited functionality of the Scheduling module (Linking multiple techs to a single WO job with multiple devices on it.)

Fantastic calibration management software. Indysoft is everything I could ask for.

Pros

It's very easy to export any lists into excel. Creating a picklist of equipment was a game changer for me. Now I don't have to look up every single piece of equipment one by one. I can create a list of all my selected equipment and manage much more easily.

Cons

There is nothing not to like about Indysoft. Once you fully understand how to operate the platform, everything is relatively easy. There is definitely a learning curve at first.
