Bluebeam is my go-to software for both internal document markup, and external document storage and collaboration. It is the most effective annotation tool for computer-savvy architectural professionals and has simplified drawing compilation and collaboration.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The extensive markup tools bring traditional architectural document annotation into the 21st century, allowing quick, intuitive, and professional looking markups to be quickly documented and shared with team members.

#### Cons

Bluebeam can be unnecessarily clunky and demanding on hardware at times, and occasional bugs/glitches can make tools like "Reduce PDF File Size" have unpredictable results.

My overall experience has been largely positive. Despite the occasional interface glitch with the toolbars, the core functionality for managing, batch converting, and applying OCR to documents is indispensable. It remains a highly effective and essential tool for my daily workflow.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I highly value its robust capabilities for PDF management, especially when handling large document sets. The document batch processing features save a significant amount of time, allowing me to quickly convert and organize files. Additionally, the optical character recognition (OCR) tools are excellent for making scanned documents fully searchable and usable.

#### Cons

The most frustrating issue I have encountered is dealing with the application toolbars unexpectedly resetting. It interrupts my workflow to have to repeatedly troubleshoot the interface layout and reconfigure my workspace just to get my tools back where I need them.

#### Reasons for choosing Bluebeam Revu

Revu is more geared for our construction Engineering use.

Very positive. Ability to use on any size of blueprints as well as new users can quickly start jumping into the application. Pros outweigh the cons!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What I liked most about Bluebeam Revu was its powerful PDF markup and collaboration tools. It made reviewing drawings and construction documents much more efficient, with features like customizable markups, measurement tools, and real-time collaboration through Studio Sessions. The interface is intuitive for technical document review, and it helped streamline communication and reduce errors across project teams.

#### Cons

What I liked least about Bluebeam Revu was the learning curve for advanced features. While the software is very powerful, some tools and settings can be overwhelming for new users. Performance can also slow down when working with very large or complex PDF sets, and certain interface elements can feel cluttered compared to more modern applications.

### Overall, A Great Software Program for Team Collaboration

Overall, I like using Bluebeam Revu for its ease of use and the many functions that can be done. The only dislike is that when working with larger files, the program occasionally crashes without warning. If this could be resolved, this would be a near perfect program in my opinion.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I like how much quicker this program can run than when using Adobe. I also like how easy it is to mark up and add comments to drawings and also to create collaborative sessions with other Team members and see comments made in real-time. I also like how easy it is to scale drawing sheets accordingly and to get measurements of floor plans without the need to use a CAD software program.

#### Cons

What I like least about Bluebeam Revu is that the program occasionally crashes abruptly without notice and I end up losing any unsaved work. I have had the program reinstalled and with the latest updates in hopes that this would fix the issue, but the program still seems to crash without warning. I have noticed this particularly when working with larger files.

#### Reasons for switching to Bluebeam Revu

For the better collaboration of documents for review than when using Adobe PDF.

#### Cons

"Bluebeam Has Great Features, But Terrible Support – Look Elsewhere" Bluebeam is a powerful tool with strong functionality, but the abysmal level of support makes it nearly unusable for professional workflows. Our company relies on this software for critical projects, yet getting timely or effective help from Bluebeam’s support team is impossible. Ironically, we’d gladly pay more if it meant receiving the level of service required to actually use the product as intended. A few years ago, support was passable—not great, but at least functional. Now, it’s downright negligent. Tickets go unanswered, issues remain unresolved, and the lack of responsiveness has cost us time and money. I no longer recommend Bluebeam to anyone. In fact, I’ve made it a point to warn every director, engineer, and colleague I know to avoid it and explore alternatives. It’s a shame—such a capable product is ruined by a company that refuses to stand behind it with decent customer service.

Overall, my experience with Bluebeam Revu has been very positive. After getting used to the interface, it became a powerful and efficient tool for working with PDFs. It helped me complete tasks more quickly, especially when it came to annotating documents and collaborating with others. While there is a learning curve at the beginning, the features and productivity benefits make it worth the effort.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I have been using Bluebeam Revu for a few years now and it's so convenient. What I liked most about Bluebeam Revu is its powerful and precise markup tools, which make it easy to annotate and edit PDFs efficiently. The collaboration features, especially Studio sessions, are also a big advantage because they allow teams to work together in real time. Additionally, the measurement and takeoff tools are very useful for projects, helping save time and improve accuracy.

#### Cons

What I liked least about Bluebeam Revu is that it can be difficult to learn at first because the interface is packed with features, which can feel overwhelming for new users. I do enjoy all its features I just wish they were organized a bit neater to understand. It can also run a bit slow on older or lower-performance computers.

Overall, I have had a positive experience with Bluebeam Revu. Its flexibility is one of its biggest strengths, particularly in allowing users to handle both plan takeoffs and plan markups efficiently. It works well as an all-in-one tool for reviewing, tracking, and managing drawing-related tasks.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

The biggest advantage of Bluebeam Revu is its ease of use. It has a user-friendly interface that makes reviewing plans, creating markups, and coordinating with team members simple and efficient.

#### Cons

The biggest downside to Bluebeam Revu is the subscription model. The recurring cost can become expensive, particularly for companies that need access for several team members.

### Amazing PDF reader, better than Adobe Acrobat. Very useful engineering tools

This is the fastest tool when it comes to drawing review, pdf document creation and control, and diagram creation. The tools at your disposal allow you to do many things which other programs do not. I would recommend this software over any other PDF reader.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Very handy and intuitive engineering tools, you can mark up drawings, get measurements and estimate quantities very easily. The drawings tools are also very useful, allowing for easy creation of clean diagrams. The PDF tools are powerful and I have completely phased out Adobe Acrobat in favour of using Bluebeam.

#### Cons

The only downside I have come across is the inability to created lines of fixed length, you have to create a measurement and then create a line to match the measurement.

#### Reasons for switching to Bluebeam Revu

Adobe is harder to use and not as intuitive or sophisticated when it comes to editing tools as Bluebeam. As a PDF reader Bluebeam loads and displays files much better than Adobe, it optimised well and rarely crashes and doesn't have the same visual bugs than Adobe often has.

A useful tool I've been using since 2016. The private consulting industry has basically embedded this software into their workflow. Sadly, probably due to its cost, the public sector/client dont tend to use Bluebeam or they have the entry level version without all the features.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Bluebeam works perfectly with drafting and producing drawings through Civil 3D. It's quick and convenient to use for engineering drawings. One particularly great feature, is the ability to calibrate your own scale and measure quantities to scale. It is a great tool for producing markups and redlines on PDFs to share with the team. Before the pandemic, we occasionally did the markups and comments by hand, now it's exclusively all through PDF markups.

#### Cons

When they have yearly program version updates, they tend to change the UI around so it takes some time to relearn the Bluebeam features. For the polyline feature, it's annoying having to press enter to finalize the command and save the line drawn (especially if it's not a close polygon). I use this tool daily and it's extremely annoying when I lose my line! I would love it if they made it so a right-click during the command saves and exits so I can complete the entire command with my mouse.

#### Reasons for switching to Bluebeam Revu

It's still important to have Adobe Acrobat as well since some (government/official) forms only work properly with Adobe.

Bluebeam compliments our takeoff program very well. It is very useful for generating individual files out of a large set that are uniquely named by the drawing number and name (or however you wish to name them), which then allows me to import those files into the program without the need for manually typing in the descriptions. Saves an inordinate amount of time at the start of a takeoff for each job.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

There is no PDF program out there to my knowledge that comes anywhere close to this program when it comes to the construction industry. We have been using this program for 6 years now, and the advancements the developers have made have been fantastic. All of our estimators and project managers have at least Bluebeam Revu, some have Extreme. The text recognition for creating page labels/bookmarks is fantastic (has improved greatly over time). The Sets feature is top notch as well, particularly for keeping up with jobs that have numerous revised drawing sets. The takeoff module is quite powerful, although we do not really take advantage of it's full potential as we already had an on-screen takeoff program.

#### Cons

I honestly have not been a huge fan of the new look in the 2018 version, but that's probably just because I was used to the old look after years of use. Some of our users are overwhelmed with all of the options, buttons, and menus, but that's really just the nature of the beast with a program with so many tools.

#### Reasons for switching to Bluebeam Revu

A new hire had used it at their previous place of employment, and highly recommended it.

#### Pros

This is an easy to use cloud based document storage that is accessible live by team members to mark up with a robust tool chest. Any type of document management, from idea brainstorming to architectural drawing set review, is easy to do in this program. It is also easy to track others’ or your own mark ups in the document, and set a status to the mark ups like completed or incomplete or in need of discussion. You can also alert a team member to a mark. The bluebeam session feature of revu is simple yet powerful. The bluebeam project feature is similar but is based on the idea of each sheet of a document being easy to check in or out by a team member, and mark up or replace back into the larger document.

#### Cons

I wish there was an easier way to swap out a document or sheet without losing the comments and their properties. I also wish there was a homepage feature for a project that teams could add milestone information, weekly or monthly tasks, and sort your notifications by priority that are within the bluebeam session.

#### Cons

No dislikes, really. We recently upgraded our SolidWorks® and am finding that Bluebeam will not be connecting/compatible with SolidWorks® any longer. That is not horrible as we can save prints other ways and still read them in Bluebeam Revu.

I love all of the takeoff features bluebeam has. Being tailor made for construction and having all of the same features as the competitors as well makes it a no Brainer for me.

#### Cons

Integration was easy. Learning the program is slightly different than competitors but there is a good help section and online communities.

#### Pros

I can't say enough good things about this software using it in the construction industry. I have used multiple different PDF editors but nothing comes close to as how good BlueBeam is. There is not much of a learning curve and you can learn the basics very quickly. It goes about as advanced as you would need and can do almost anything. Marking up blueprints is straightforward and easy to do. There are multiple different callout shapes and easily input the tag on it. You can have a favorite toolset on a window for the most frequently used items such as your stamp, signature, check mark, etc... Once you collaborate the blueprint you can measure dimensions, surface, and volume. Bluebeam integrates into most other software such as browsers, Microsoft Excel, and word. It has a quick button in these programs to easily convert it into a PDF inside of Bluebeam. If it does not have integration with the software you can print something and use Bluebeam as a printer to convert it into a PDF inside Bluebeam. You can even set spaces and do punch lists as well. Everyone I work with loves with the product and nobody has a bad thing to say about it.

#### Cons

The only complaint I have been able to come up with but I'm sure it is user error is that my customized toolbar keeps reverting back to the default. I have locked the toolbar and messed with it but randomly every now goes back. I am unsure why this happens and is pretty frustrating when it does. Other than this no complaints.
