Overall I find the Designrr software meets my needs to create lead generating eBooks and high end PDFs and white papers. With the transcription service being the top feature I use on a daily basis. I do most of my interviews for articles via ZOOM. I record the interview in both audio and video format. After the media files download to my computer, and I upload the file via the Podcast to PDF link in Designrr. FYI - It takes the key audio and video formats. Withing 10-15 minutes, Designrr will notify me the transcription is ready in my dashboard. I then am able to edit it, lay it out, or just drop into a template for my use. Makes developing content easy and efficient. #### Cons The actual layout design functions of Designrr are a bit complex and do have a learning curve. I am used to very simple layout tools like Mail Chimp, WIX, Publisher--and they basically run the same user experience. The Designrr system takes some learning, and I will admit it is not my favorite. In my work it's always a challenge to make our content more engaging, and the easy ebook and flipbook creation is really increasing our page reads. Then I couldn't get out. #### Cons I bought it to create pdf handouts from my slideshow which would save me having to do the work myself. It never worked. Felt like I was sold on a faulty software. But that wasn't my biggest issue, actually. Trying to get out of the subscription service was so complicated it felt like a scam. I think that is VERY POOR FORM for any company. Not happy with that experience, and for people less tech savvy than me will be stuck in a loop with payments not knowing how to cancel. I don't like that one bit. Still learning my way around. #### Cons Managing the image Library... but it is probably that I hv not learned to navigate it properly. I wish there was a middle option between 97 and 297 per year pkg. also most people do not understand the credit system... I used up mine just learning how it all works... now my only option is 300 bucks and who knows is those credits will be enough for a year. There are much cheaper options so I do think a better pricing systems nn to be looked at. Just my humble opinion. The media library has been reworked, so its faster, accessible from the dashboard as well as inside the editor. Regarding credits for Wordgenie usage, there no need to upgrade to the Premium plan ($297/yr) just for more credits. You can get more for just $17 one time payment. We've also reduce the number of credits needed for ebooks so you can do more for less. Anyway - I do appreciate the feedback as always. The annual subscription price is extremely low when you consider the regular updates and the support team. They frequently do webinars and calls that discuss the overall topics of layout, design, tips, tricks, and techniques...again, something I've rarely seen at this price point. As someone who has done page layout and formatting since the early days of desktop publishing, knowing which tool to use for what purpose is essential. Each format requires specific tweaks to make it work properly for the intended platform and using Designrr has been helpful in creating content upgrades, PDF files, and flipbooks from properly formatted source text. By that, I mean source files that are properly tagged (e.g., using styles in Word and in Google docs) and ready for import into the final layout. It is not, and never was as far as I can tell, meant to be everything for everybody for every purpose. I love that I can have links within the content, create a CTA, store chunks of text to be used in multiple places (short bio anyone?), use branding elements like my logo, font, and colors. I also love that I can download the formatted files to any drive I want, share the files in multiple places, and create content upgrades to go along with blog posts and training courses. I did purchase the upgrade because I wanted (and use) the AI transcription services and import more formats. #### Cons Initially, I was a bit frustrated because of the features I thought were available...when I had a discussion with the support team, I realized I had placed Designrr in the wrong category and was trying to use it as a long document layout tool. Once I developed a better understanding of the "right fit" for the tool, I was golden. #### Reasons for choosing Designrr I didn't choose it "over," I chose it as an addition to tools like FrameMaker, InDesign, and even MS Word (which totally sucks for doing page layout). I saw the ad for Designrr and decided to listen to the video. The onetime fee of $27.00 in US funds got me hooked. In Canadian funds it was $36.00. I will do an upgrade in the future when I have enough funds to do that, but I am so excited to get this going. Sadly, I have not had a lot of time to devote to this due to fall season arriving here in Canada and snow is about to fall tomorrow. I have had a lot of yard work to do. So I will be getting back to publishing my eBook before the end of next month. The image gallery is excellent, along with the ability to import your own content. They provide a nice selection of cover templates. The ability to create documents in various formats (ebooks, epub, audio, flipbooks, etc.) is excellent, and we appreciate the workshops on marketing. #### Cons There is a slight learning curve, and sometimes, the application is slow or glitchy, especially when working with a larger file. Sometimes, I need to log in under incognito mode; otherwise, the system will bump me out as soon as I open a working file. This probably has to do with certain filters or cookies on my end, but I don't know how to identify them. Tech support offered this as a fix, and it works! Finally, we signed up for a more expensive plan in order to be able to make audiobooks but found out that the allotted recording time was limited and that we'd have to pay for additional hours as needed. The ease of implementation on a website, just remarkable. They gave a lot of thought on the editor design and luckily, in case they failed about thinking of some solution, you still have access to the html editor which it will most likely accept any piece of problem solver there. Pretty accessible, even in these times. #### Cons Although very effective, the editor could improved a lil bit more. Sometimes I find myself struggling why some changes are not taking in place, specially when working with the tables. You could also allow having more than 2 background colors for each column of the table. Let's say you want to make a pricing list formatted as a column matrix and you are offering different plans to your customers. It would be nice to being able of selecting a color per each column. The flipbook is amazing, but I don't see to find myself quite pleased with the size of the book when rendered. It does have a zoom button, yet I would prefer the flipbook to occupy the whole screen (width and height as well) in that way it would really give a feeling that you are reading a book. For more simple ebook creation, this has worked out well for us. We can create a quick lead magnet and choose an ebook cover image to get the magnet launched quickly on our website. It imports your blog posts for you and gets you started with ebook creation. #### Cons It is somewhat limited on design capabilities. While we could easily import content, sometimes it imported too much and we had to clear everything out and start over. I expect things to go wrong but the real color shows when things go wrong. If all works well go for it. But be warned. It's nice to import from Google docs. #### Cons Bugs, bugs, and more bugs. I imported from Google docs. Support said I copied bad code and that's why my book breaks. Fonts change, paragraphs break in many short sentences. Support said I must clear cache. Or get training. Formating stuff needs training but I have written very many blogs and articles. I then went to support. They stop supporting. I went to their Facebook group but [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] the boss deleted my post. And said he will not talk to me any longer. Just for the benefit of other readers. We have hundreds of templates, and you can set the font once for the whole document, so you don't have to edit page by page. We have over 900 fonts to choose from. I have written a few "how to" and "children's" books, book's that I intent to sell on line and convert to other mediums such as audio books training courses and video's. I am at the very start of this journey and I didn't really know where to start. Thank goodness for designrr. I tentatively bought it at an extremely low price hoping that it would help me in the production process. IT DOES THAT AND FAR MORE... it is very easy to use with a very good help section and plenty of back up from the company. As with everything you have to familiarise yourself with the interface but you will soon be making beautiful and pleasing articles ... #### Cons I think that a little more explanations could be included for picture use and using templates and a guide on how to create your own ( from scratch) cover would be good... After using it, I quickly upgraded to a stronger package.
