## Reviews summary

- Overall rating: 4.8/5
- Total reviews: 41

### Secondary ratings

- Ease of use: 4.9/5
- Customer support: 4.8/5
- Value for money: 4.5/5
- Functionality: 4.7/5

### Rating distribution

- 5 stars: 32 reviews (78%)
- 4 stars: 9 reviews (22%)
- 3 stars: 0 reviews (0%)
- 2 stars: 0 reviews (0%)
- 1 star: 0 reviews (0%)

### Most mentioned pros

- Super inexpensive and free for web apps. If you want to use on desktop/mobile apps you need a subscription, but the subscription is pretty inexpensive.
- It can save operations teams a lot of time - instead of having to show people how to do something IT related over and over, you can just create a Scribe guide and link them to it.
- It helps make SOP's, tutorials, instructions or anything you need to share with co-workers in a fraction of the time.

### Most mentioned cons

- Honestly, I can't come up with a downside at this point - other than getting people to watch the training videos we create, which is a user issue, not a Scribe fault.
- So the pricing is a bit high for my usage

I love Scribe a lot. As a systems person, I don't recommend anything else. This truly is the one stop shop if you want your team to be streamlined without hounding thing to keep up with their SOPs.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Scribe allows me to just hit record, do their flow, and share it to the team. No coordination. No needing to follow brand guidelines for consistency. Just the system and move on! My kind of software. The screen capture is my absolute favorite.

#### Cons

Honestly, nothing. It's exactly how I would like the software to be if I was building it for myself. No notes - just love.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5

#### Pros

Scribe is easy to use and very helpful for tracking workflow to develop SOPs. The screen capture and video recording are perfect for keeping track of and training these processes

#### Cons

I’m deeply and truly tired of seeing AI suggestions. Overall it’s a simply designed set up which I don’t mind, but some may want more complexity

#### Reasons for switching to Scribe

Trying out a variety of recording tools to see the best fit

It is a quick and easy tool to use. What I don't know is how much people are using or getting benefit from the how-tos that I put together.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

It will quickly capture the steps that I take to do things, saving me 10-20mins each time.

#### Cons

It automatically blurs out anything that looks like a name, even when it is not sensitive information. It also feels like it could be layering some AI over the top to improve the recording and set up process even more.

I have, and do, frequently recommend Scribe to anyone who needs an SOP for technical aspects of their work. I used to write down every step as I went, and that takes forever.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Free tier works well. Strong data encryption. The system is easy and quick to set up. It is incredibly easy to use without much effort.

#### Cons

To change highlights, or record on desktop, you have to upgrade. Other than that, I have no issues. This product was clearly designed by someone frustrated in a similar role. It works astonishingly well.

#### Reasons for choosing Scribe

Same reasons as before. Not as efficient, and a limited free tier.

#### Reasons for switching to Scribe

Loom has too many limitations on the free tier, and is significantly less efficient in both time documenting, and retrieving essential information. Plus, the limit on time during videos, and number of videos is significant.

My overall experience with Scribe is top-notch. I started benefiting from it from the first day I tried it. And EVERY time I make one for my team, someone says how much they love it.

#### Ratings breakdown

What I like most about Scribe is that it's both easy for me to use to create a Scribe, but also easy for my team to use, when learning from a Scribe.

#### Cons

I don't have anything at this time that I like least. I love it all.

#### Reasons for switching to Scribe

I had been using Loom to make how-tos but this is MUCH better. And easier.

For 25 euros monthly, this replaced three other tools we used. Creating visual guides for pronunciation exercises, documenting our enrollment process, training new instructors, it handles everything. My colleague even uses it for parent communication guides. Not perfect, but saves me 5-6 hours weekly on material preparation.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Recording my screen while teaching grammar rules saves me hours. I show students exactly where to click in our online learning portal. The automatic step-by-step guides it creates? Perfect for homework instructions. My Albanian and Swedish language students can replay the videos when they're stuck. Worth every penny for a small language school like ours.

#### Cons

Sometimes the software misses cursor movements when I'm switching between browser tabs quickly. Video quality drops if my internet connection isn't strong. Would love subtitles in more languages, my beginners struggle with English instructions.

I find Scribe very easy to use, even though I don't use it regularly. I have several SOPs and short how-tos that I refer to as needed.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I primarily use Scribe for myself. I often take screenshots and create how-to guides for various tasks in WordPress, Divi Builder, or my client portal. It's a quick way to review tasks and strategies that I don't perform frequently but need reminders for.

#### Cons

The premium price for using Scribe on a desktop is too high. I wish they would lower it to make it more accessible for individuals. I would use the app twice as much if I could capture items on my desktop and edit screenshots.

### Needs a little fine tuning for the price

I enjoy using it but we can't complete our true goal without moving licenses constantly or paying an absurd amount. It would be so helpful with learning our new EMR but the auto redaction feature doesn't work properly. Their tech support is working on it though

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 2/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Very easy to use, the desktop feature makes for seamless tutorials, and very easy to edit. A normal how-to would have taken 45 minutes to create (using screenshots and typing steps)and that same how-to was done in 9 seconds.

#### Cons

Expensive, no large scale model (you have to pay $35 per creater per month on top of the service level you choose). This adds up very quickly. Auto redaction feature needs improvement (set ours to auto redaction all private information and it doesn't redact anything except the first name)

#### Reasons for choosing Scribe

Ease of use, seemed better than alternatives

Anytime a team member asks how to do something, I create a Scribe tutorial. In the past, I would usually just "do it myself" because it was faster than explaining how. Now, I "do it myself" the first time, then I have a tutorial to share with everyone else for the next time.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

It is incredibly easy to use, especially in-browser. It records all of the steps and clicks and does a pretty good job of predicting the written instructions.

#### Cons

Re-ordering steps isn't easy. It is difficult to navigate while moving a step from one area to another. There is an easy way to move to the top, but it is difficult to move to somewhere else in the middle. It would be easier if we were able to "collapse" the steps.

We used Scribe to document internal processes and onboarding for a growing client, it’s saved us hundreds of hours from boring data entry meetings & endless questions. What stands out most is how fast and easy it is. Even non-technical staff can create clear, step-by-step guides effortlessly. One of the best productivity tools I’ve used in years.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Easy to use, non technical, simple intuitive step by step instructions. Chrome extension is lightweight & rarely does not perform. Capturing technical workflows and turning them into clean, shareable guides is unmatched.

#### Cons

For smaller teams for testing you can get away with the free version but paid for bigger teams to redact unnecessary complicated info.

I am able to create directions that are mostly bomb-proof for even the least tech savvy people in MOMENTS. What I used to spend HOURS, if not days, doing to create professional-looking, detailed instructions now takes less than 10 mins to record, annotate and send.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

If you're a team member, and you frequently collaborate, this is a must tool. The tool automatically the steps during screen recording and converts them to steps for documentation. It is also easy to manage and share with anyone through a link.

#### Cons

The automatic documentation from recording needs to be more accurate. Sometimes it captures what is not required, and editing them with images is difficult and gives an impression, this tutorial could have been a lot easier when done manually.

Overall I have really geeked out on how Scribe is able to follow your workflow and create the how-to almost automatically. I have enjoyed playing around with it and will be interested to see how easy it is to add other people once the business gets that far.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I am a huge nerd for creating a good process, and documenting it. I think that is key for any successful business. I have loved using Scribe to complete tasks like that for my small business. There aren't very many people in our company, but I still want to plan for expansion NOW, rather than try to play catch up when we do need to hire more people.

#### Cons

Right now I am on the free/basic plan so I have not been able to explore the other features that come with paying for it. As the small business grows, I anticipate we will move to the Pro Team version which is still quite affordable for smaller businesses at about $12/person/month. Still, I wonder if paying for this product will be necessary. I am still kinda old school and would rather just create a word document with instructions for all of our processes. I worry about having to pay for this longterm when we do grow.

### Great for Easy Guides

For my overall experience with Scribe, I started using it based on a recommendation and was really impressed by how easy it was to create guides just by going through the steps. It captures screenshots and clicks really well, and I love that I can save it to a PDF and share it with the team that way. I'm not someone who uses the home screen a lot; I prefer to export and store it in our company documents. My main downside is the cost, especially since I only make a couple of guides a month and it can feel pricey when I'm not using it often. But overall, the free version is fantastic, and the paid version is great if you need those extra features.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I really appreciated how easy it is to use, especially for capturing screens and creating step-by-step guides. I mostly use it for knowledge management—just running through processes and updating how-to guides so that everyone on the team can follow along easily.

#### Cons

One downside for me is the cost. While I can see the value in Scribe, it does feel a bit expensive given that I only create a couple of guides a month. There are even months where I don’t use it at all, and it just feels like I’m paying for something that sits unused. So the pricing is a bit high for my usage

### One of the biggest time savers and organizational tools that have dramatically improved my SOP efficiency and structure

Overall experience with Scribe has been great. It has saved me so much time and effort building SOP's, and also I now have SOP's that before I didn't even think of putting together, but since it is so easy on Scribe I have SOP's for even simple things that I used to have to spend time showing people myself and wouldn't think of doing an SOP for. Now I just send off the scribe and they are good to go. Recorded doing it one time and now I have an SOP that I can easily share with anyone without having to do a thing anymore.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Easiest SOP building tool I've ever used. Super inexpensive and free for web apps. If you want to use on desktop/mobile apps you need a subscription, but the subscription is pretty inexpensive. I literally don't have to build SOP's myself anymore. Anytime I need to show someone how to do something on a website or app, I just click record and do the actions myself. Scribe screenshots every click highlights where your mouse is clicking and literally creates the step-by-step guide itself. It will caption each step automatically usually only requiring small tweaks if there is something specific, I want to mention. Has saved me hours of tedious and repetitive explanations as well as back and forth when people get stuck at a certain point and have questions.

#### Cons

Clicking between tabs and stuff can be a little weird. Editor can sometimes be clunky and screenshots occasionally requires adjustments to highlight what you are actually trying to highlight. These are minimal though and typically just small adjustments you have to make. Still does all the heavy lifting and builds the SOP. Even if you have to make adjustments it's just making adjustments vs building out the whole thing, manually adding screenshots, and highlights yourself. As well as cleaning up all my mistakes. probably more mistakes I'd have to fix doing it myself than on Scribe.

### Scribe for Busy Technology Teams

We have seen is marked improvement in the consistency and clarity of our documentation. Before Scribe, user instructions were often scattered across PDFs, emails, and chat threads. Now, everything is centralized, easy to update, and visually intuitive. Adoption has grown quickly—not just within our Technology Services team, but across departments. We’ve seen enthusiastic use by program staff, HR, and finance, all of whom are now creating Scribes to document and share their processes. This cross-functional use has helped foster a culture of documentation and knowledge-sharing that we’ve been working toward for years. We recently change the name of our organization, which involved an update to every single team member device, across three countries. With Scribe we were able to create step by step documentation to guide our users through the migration process. With out that our help desk would have been overrun with user support calls!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Scribe is quick to setup, easy to use and produces ROI almost immediately, even with the free version! For busy teams Scribe is like adding another person to your team!

#### Cons

Quite honestly, I have not encountered much that I don't love about Scribe. Even the features that are "OK" are still insanely more efficient than the alternative (manually creating documentation)

#### Reasons for choosing Scribe

Scribe had a much more attractive price point, and more features we are looking for!

### Scribe is a great tool for capturing the current state and increasing capacity

Scribe has helped me greatly increase my capacity without sacrificing quality. Time I used to spend manually recording data is now spent on working directly with customers and tasks that require critical thinking, like actually improving the process we just documented. The tool isn’t perfect, but I don’t mind reviewing the output because it gives me the opportunity to validate quality. In all, I’d absolutely recommend Scribe to others.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

As a continuous improvement/lean consultant, what I like most about Scribe is how much time it saves me. My mentor taught me the old school way of shadowing a worker, observing how they complete task, timing them, and counting clicks and keystrokes. Scribe captures all of this and now I spend most of my time validating, refining, and working directly with customers. It’s a very useful tool:

#### Cons

Scribe’s accuracy is perfectly serviceable despite the many errors. If anything, it reflects my own notes because I’m often writing faster than I can think.

I started using Scribe as an end user - watching videos created by our Curriculum department. I feel in love and quickly became a content creator. As a former technical writer, I love how quickly I can capture a process that I used to spend hours trying to wordsmith and screenshot.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I love how quickly I can create a walkthrough video instead of having to write out and screenshot, step by step, the processes I need to train on. It's so easy to share those videos with my team as well as end users. It was quick and simple to learn how to use Scribe, and the process is highly customizable.

#### Cons

Honestly, I can't come up with a downside at this point - other than getting people to watch the training videos we create, which is a user issue, not a Scribe fault.

#### Reasons for switching to Scribe

Scribe is free and simpler to work with. We can create the content we need and edit it more easily than with Screencastify.

Such an easy to use tool, add it to your browser and go about your day. Each task automatically created. Click the wrong spot? Delete that step on the work flow. Too easy. If you have a senior staff member you lean on heavily that is close to retirement, get this tool and have them go about their day. Split up the workflow later on your own time.

#### Cons

When it's running, it takes up a quarter of the screen on the side, making the normal page seems squished. It'd be nice if this could be minimized, but I couldn't figure it out (if it is possible)

Overall, Scribe has been a lifesaver at work - it's saved me hundreds of hours, helped my team accomplish more, and made it easy for me to share processes and instructions with customers!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It used to take me an hour or more to create a tutorial for my team. With Scribe, I can create a tutorial in 30 seconds or less (I know, it sounds too good to be true!).

#### Cons

You can only have 10 tutorials on the free version, which is a little limiting to test it out. But the paid version is worth it
