In terms of config back-up and configlets it has done fantastic job whereas in terms of compliance and vulnerabilities it is not up to the mark.
PROSConfig back-up set up is the most liked feature in the application
CONSSince there is the compliance report in the tool it should give the report for all the devices which are on-boarded to tool. In my case it was unable to give the compliance report for the HP Aruba devices

ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager
This product was simple to deploy and has worked well in our mixed environment. We have Cisco, Fortinet, and Juniper devices and it has worked well with all of them. We have had success using all of the features including backing up configurations, comparing changes to configurations, seeing real time changes, compliance auditing, and firmware vulnerabilities.
CONSI haven't had an issue with the product, but sometimes the documentation I find for ManageEngine products isn't accurate.
Reasons for switching to ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager
SolarWinds NCM felt dated and slow, we constantly had issues with devices that would no longer back up. SolarWinds support was never very helpful for us.

NCM - Great so Far
We are using NCM to make sure we have config backups of our network devices. In the future, we will explore the compliance and syslog change management piece.
PROSPersonally, I like the layout and the many different features. We are just getting started and have only scratched the surface but so far, its been pretty sweet. I would say there is a bit of a learning curve but that comes with most things. With a little trial and error, it is not too bad. That is not to mention support is great (thanks [sensitive content hidden]), they respond ASAP and get you to a resolution.
CONSI think the inventory view could make it a bit more clear on what is managed on what isn't. For example, you might have a device that has the credentials applied and you can attempt to back it up but it might not be "managed". Maybe the icons could be more explanatory initially.

Very positive all the way around, from sales to support the ManageEngine team has been easy to work with. The product setup was fast and easy. Full implementation only took around 4 working hours.
PROSSetup and configuration was simple and fast. In the space of 4 hours all of our switches are being backed up and security policies are reporting configuration issues. Unauthorized changes get reported to our NOC and real-time change detection is operational.
CONSGetting used to the menu organization is taking some time.

NCM review
The software is easy to install and offers a user-friendly interface that is simple to navigate. The tool's automation features allow IT teams to save time and reduce errors, as the system can automatically back up configurations, detect changes, and perform configuration changes across multiple devices simultaneously. The tool also offers comprehensive reporting capabilities, enabling IT teams to analyze network activity and identify potential issues quickly. One of the standout features of Network Configuration Manager is its ability to support a wide range of network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. The tool can integrate with many of the industry's leading vendors, including Cisco, Juniper Networks, HP, and Dell, and supports several popular protocols such as SSH, Telnet, and SNMP.
CONSI don't have personal preferences or experiences. However, some users have reported that the software's user interface can be overwhelming at times, and it may take some time to get used to all of its features. Additionally, the tool's pricing structure can be a bit complex, and some users may find it challenging to understand the various licensing options available.

Network Configuration Manager is a fantastic addon to Opamanger
Overall, the manageengine tools are fantastic and provide a lot of features for a very reasonable cost. The integration of these ad-hoc tools within some of their larger tools like Opmanger just makes them even better.
PROSHonestly, it nearly set itself up. We obviously had to create some policy customization, but out of the box it was immediately useful by identifying issues with firmware updates, capturing config backups and all sorts of other taks.
CONSWe had an issue with the config backup on a single switch that even manageengine couldn't immediately help with. It took a few tries to find a tech who could assist. Other than that, it works really well.

Manage Engine NCM
Good product, reasonably priced, fairly easy to setup and Support were always responsive.
PROSEasy of deployment and configuration. Flexible scripting to roll out config changes. Good set of features including compliance checks, vulnerability assessments, backup and restore.
CONSThere is a lag with the ssh client when typing compared to Putty. Not a major issue but if doing anything of note on a device would use putty. There is a tag feature which can be used to organise devices, once set cant be changed which is an annoyance if you accidentally assign the wrong TAG. The in built compliance checks don't always match the device commands so need tweaking.
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager
From demos seemed to be simpler product to set up and seemed more of a standalone product.
