It excels at providing a track of resources configuration and history; providing a central point of reference when you need to understand how something may have arrived in it's current state vs where it started. Once time is spent configuring everything correctly, it provides a reliable audit trail that is invaluable for both troubleshooting and governance. #### Cons Config can often feel more like a compliance and audit tool as opposed to a simple, intuitive window into your environment for day to day use. As with all cloud services AWS provides, it has a very steep learning curve and requires a lot of time and effort to extract and leverage its value, which is not always immediately obvious otherwise.
