Great advancement in Cloud modeling

Pros

I like that the model is not tied to a server and that it can be accessed anywhere with internet access. And you can see instant updates from consultants if they are on BIM 360 also

Cons

Problem is using cloud model when certain features are still tied to a local hard drive such as Keynoting. We have some team members working remotely and they do not have access to our keynote unless we do VPN access. This should be integrated into BIM360 so it can be accessed easily.

BIM 360

Pros

The collaborative environment is ideal. it's a LIVE environment which makes coordinating much easier

Cons

We have hit the ceiling in some of the functionality. The versions come out so fast that the same problem occurs over and over and is never addressed.

Not many like it

My guys do a lot of work in BIM and between this and Revit Autodesk makes life a lot easier

Pros

Quick & easy to create a mockup for a project to hand off to an architect or test viability under weather conditions. It does a lot of the mapping electrical for you as well. You have to know what you're doing, though

Cons

Man, this is one mammoth of a software. It can do so much, but it is real hard to learn everything about it.

BIM 360 DOCS - Is it worth it

Overall, i love it. It can take your whole office filing and model drawing to the cloud allowing you to work remotely. To me cloud based modelling is perfect, and I don't even pick up hassles working on a 350mb model from home with only a 5mb line. It handles it effortlessly.

Pros

There is a definite ease of use in comparison to BIM 360 Team that we may be familiar with for those who started working in a cloud based environment with the interface having more of a "Windows Explorer"feel that is fully customisable and with it running off Autodesks Skyscraper Server I find it faster than when running off BIM 360 Team, prbably explains why from Revit v 2019 Team is no longer avaialble. The added benefit of Autodesk constantly improving and adapting the software based on end users feedback and criticisms will keep you constantly impressed with what they are doing.

Cons

This can also bring it to a Con....because Autodesk is always finely tuning the software i wouldn't recommend activating a new addon that they provide immediately after it comes out of "Preview"phase. I have found it to still be buggy and has caused me embarrassment when the end-user takes it as my fault it is not doing what it was supposed to do. 6 months later and now it appears to be working well.

BIM 360 - The better cloud based solution

BIM 360 has helped us to connect with customers and contractors globally, more efficiently and saves us time and money on complex EPCM type projects

Pros

The software is very easy to use and understand even for non0engineering staff who interact on our projects.

Cons

It is certainly designed to be used on a high speed broadband connection, using it in very remote locations with poor connectivity is challenging but not impossible.

Clients love it.

Helps with indecisive clients , helps provide them a better "feel" of the space.

Pros

Simple to use, Runs smoothly and saves lots of time when drafting. The input of measurements is very easy. Clients are always very impressed with 3D renderings.

Cons

Line drawing is limited and can rarely been used from home becuase of computer requirments.

Punchlist Made Easy

Overall I could not be happier with BIM 360. In addition to the punch list feature, I also enjoy being able to upload all of my plan sheeting into one centralized location that can be view by anyone I choose to share the project with. It makes soliciting bids much easier.

Pros

The best feature within the BIM 360 platform, is the ability to create punch list. The system not only allows you to create individual issues on your project, but it also always you to link plan pages to those issue for other to reference.

Cons

The exporting feature could use a little work. When exporting a punch list to a different platform, be aware that the cells may not come out exactly as they are shown on BIM 360. The issue is easily fixed with a few modifications to the exported spreadsheet.

Limited use

We used it on a very large parking structure in Hawaii and we able to identify in ground piping conflicts prior to construction.

Pros

This program helped me as a manager identify potential conflicts far before they became a problem

Cons

Must be proficient at cad for this product to be effective.

BIM 360

Pros

Ipad functionality and abilities. This allows individuals in the field to use the software and incorporate it into their everyday work. Very simple to use and has made collecting records on completion of projects and documentation so much simpler. It is also very easy to look at content without downloading it and to share content amongst different disciplines.

Cons

Inability to edit files in the software. Some functions on the Ipad are not completely integrated, which makes completing reports on the mobile version difficult.

Bim 360

Pros

What I like most about this software is the functionality that it has over some of the other BIM software that is currently out there in the market.

Cons

What I like least about this software is how enormous some files can get once it has too much detail and certain design capabilities that it cannot fully handle as a design program.
