I use it to submit submittals and RFI's and it helps keeps everything I need for the project organiz
By using this product I am to track when everything goes in for review and when it gets returned. No matter how long ago it happens this keeps a good and clean record of everything that happens during the project.
PROSIt is easy to use and it doesn't take long to learn. I was placed onto a project that uses e-builder exclusively and I needed to be able to start using it by the end of the week and after the first couple submittals I was able to pick it up.
CONSI could use a couple more options for the "Field Reports" section. There are moments when I am placing my reports from a site visit and I do not have an appropriate place to file it.

Good for Project Management
Overall it's been a good experience. I was able to manage my projects well using it.
PROSEasy to navigate, important "hot items" displayed clearly on the projects screen.
CONSUsing the other features is a learning curve but not difficult. As with most software, the more you use it, the more proficient you become.

Tracking processes, Change Orders, looking for stored documents, managing invoices, etc.
PROSNot easy to use at all. Many issues may be due to the implementation and not you. The owner of the enterprise is Broward County Public Schools, so I really don't know if the issues are due to you, or to the owner.
CONSWhen I want to export a list into Excel, its easy to do. BUT...if the list goes over to another page, then I have to go to the second page, and generate ANOTHER spreadsheet. Then I have two spreadsheets with identical name that I have to consolidate. Also, When I print an attachment (and by print it can be show as a pdf or word document, E-Builder does not keep the name of the document and gives it a generic name. If I have several of those PDFs open, I don't know which is which.I only understand about 10% of the software capabilities. Not user-friendly AT ALL. It is absolutely counter-intuitive to do anything, and training here is exceedingly poor.I like to produce charts. I've tried to self learn how to do so. Impossible.I see there is something like a Dashboard. This would be so useful to customize so as to have a lot of important information on a single screen or report, but it has been impossible for me to get ahead on this.

Good experience and better than software like Aconex
All the documents are recorded one place and they reachable through the web everywhere.
PROSWell organized for Program Management. The way the different workflows are set up makes it easy to use.
CONSNot easy to distinguish between the gray documents (Inactive) and the active ones. The notifications are not customized enough.

e-Builder for Contract Tracking and Execution
As a new user, I appreciate the step by step prompts for action for each user's function within the process of contract building, execution and completion.
PROSStep by step prompts for action and procedure are great. Ease of use is very user friendly. I have spent 30 years in the mortgage business prior to my new tenure in Contract development and implementation in this new position for now six months. I used four different systems in my mortgage career since the early 1990s and this software is better than any I previously used as far as ease of use and tracking abilities. I am a fan.
CONSLike all software, the learning curve was necessary but better than most. Repetition of use is the key to learn the system and is easier than most but somewhat challenging on the front end.

User Friendly ?
We are an outside user and are mandated to use the program. I have learned to appreciate the program.
PROSThere is a steep learning curve but when you understand how it works and how to use it, there's a lot of great features.
CONSThe learning curve is extremely steep. We don't use the program very often and when we started using it, it was very complex. I have learned to use it and it has a great store of information when you learn to access it.

My review
All the features are very impactful, the product is easy to use and integration with our existing business processes were easy
CONSAn improvement would be to allow read only access permissions to be set at the project level rather than establishing permissions based on the user. That way, all users can view all projects without having write level access to all project files.

Sometimes a Harmonica Is More Appropriate than an Orchestra
I am a Materials Coordinator. Per my Agency's format- I am mostly in folders: Progress Photos ("04"-07); 03-01-09; 03-08 through 12-all subfolders; 03-16-01-all subfolders; 03-16 & 17-all subfolders. I look at submittals via Submittal Register. Processes I use most is consultant daily activity report (DR_) and equipment report (DARCA).
PROSIt is a method to get at much info into an electronic format. As in the Microsoft Office software, the method of entering info into e-Builder vary from Process to Submittal, etc. In short, no consistency. I use the file naming convention format for record keeping for non-e-Builder projects.
CONSUnable to get a simple Excel list of file names, with upload date (a harmonica), found in a folder directly from e-Builder software. It drives me nuts I can only see two or three documents in the tiny window when I do materials review & file naming consistency. I create my own Excel sheet manually. I select an individual document, "Properties", copy the file name into an Excel spreadsheet-repeat steps. When a log can be created directly from e-Builder (an orchestra), it is in WORD (useless for sorting) in narrow columns stuffing long file names in multiple rows & extra useless verbiage filling the remaining columns. It can be edited, with the time wasted doing that, create an Excel spreadsheet manually. In the file naming convention, there is no File TYPE ID to identify material certification info (photo of object's marking, pdf of paper tag, cutsheet) collected in the field. Currently I use "MS_" for "Materials Sh**t." Sorting by "MS_" brings up lots of "Miscellaneous" documents when doing closeout review. Adding suffice "TAG_" would help; it appears to not conflict with the current file naming File TYPE IDs.

e-Builder for the Admin
Previously, our company relied on paper, scanned documents and e-mail. Slowly but surely we are transferring all of our business processes for the entire enterprise made up of approximately 12 divisions into e-Builder. Several processes including procurement, invoice requests, budget requests, change requests, contingency transfers, etc. have all been successfully rolled out and are being maintained in the system while we expand to other departments like Admin & HR, Operations, Facilities, Business & Revenue, Technology, etc. as we continue to develop the software as an enterprise warehouse for all our business needs.
PROSFunctionality and ease of use not only for end-users but especially for the client system admins. Whether it's setting up projects, users, roles, processes, reports, dashboards, etc. the navigation and setup for all are intuitive and user friendly that anyone with typical technical skills could successfully use with little to no training or direction.
CONSThough the system is very easy to use and setup, this is mostly because clients to not have access to the hard-coded data. Typically this is not a problem but there are limitations that come up from time to time like the ability to edit/remove standard and default fields or search functionality and options in different modules.

Good system that is constantly improving
Great system, keep up the good work. You have a good team of intelligent programmers and customer service providers. Having a road map and plan for the direction of the group is imperative and will keep the creative people focused on where the application needs to go. There are little bugs here and there in the system, or parts that do not function exactly as we want causing us to create work-arounds.
PROSThe interface is very intuitive, the modules are helpful and the functions are logical. We have had success in generating reports that executives can use to make strategic company-wide decisions as construction consumes the most capital resources available.
CONSThere are some functions and features that could be improved as they are starting to compete with other applications available. As an example we want to use the schedule module more but the Microsoft project application is much easier so we end up importing MS project files instead of generating the original project schedules in eBuilder. We want all-in-one most of the time but it would require integration with MS products or building a clone which we understand is time consuming and expensive.

E-builder is an expensive file organization software but has good PO tracking
There are tons of other project management software tools out there - I would not recommend this one.
PROSPO tracking abilities are good and the overall user interface is fairly straightforward. E--builder is not quite ready for prime time - we have submitted ideas to them for incorporation so the users have to make the product better. Who has the money/time to give a company ideas so that we can get charged for licensing while they benefit?
CONSSo many to list. The pricing is horrible for all of the software's limitations. As my title suggests, it is basically a very expensive file organizer. The scheduling platform is awkward, importing files into the file structures is not straightforward, image editing that you want to do and share with your users is very limited and I find that edit images outside of E-builder first and then import them, you cannot record all of your correspondence created within the software (i.e. a full copy of what you sent out to another user), the side layout menu and the top tab organization is not intuitive and you can get completely of one project and into another without realizing it, etc. I would write more but I have to finish making pdfs of files that I need to import into E-builder because I cannot create them within E-builder.

Powerful Software -
I do appreciate the support team, i've been on that side of software before. Thanks for all the work you guys do. Also, thanks to the other teams at e-Builder that make all the magic happen behind the scenes.
PROSCustomization of independent processes allow multiple departments to interact within the same workflows. Version control on documents module always keeps document organized and easily accessible. The use of reporting to extract the data needed is always a plus. The future expansion of the APIs is going to make this software even more powerful!
CONSSome high priority bugs still take to long to get resolved. Replication of certain bugs limit the eb development team to fix issues in a timely manner. --- Some items cannot sit in a process or whatnot, waiting for the eB dev team to look into the issue. Some things have to move at the speed of payments.

Review of e-Builder by 10+ year System Administrator
The amazing configurability and functionality of the Processes (Structured Workflow) module. The ability to setup custom Reports and automate execution and delivery of such Reports. That this product is available from anywhere with a browser and an internet connection.
CONSThere are (seemingly low-cost, short turnaround time) fixes and enhancements that could significantly enhance overall functionality that have not been implemented for years. While the Reporting module does a pretty solid job reporting on the most needed data, there is a fairly large amount of underlying data that is not accessible via the Reporting module.
