Pros/Cons
Pros
- This is a good software for 3D design. It is for free and there is a great community that can give support to you, with a lot of tutorials in Youtube.
- I love that it’s free first of all. The projections from all angles is amazing and really helpful when designing for clients so they can really get a full picture of what you are designing.
- Love that I can create a visual for my bosses at work to see using this software, was very impressed how easy it was to pick up and go, lots of videos and help on the internet.
Cons
- It has very limited functionality and is weak on 3D CAD.
- For me it is very difficult to do the transition from 2D to 3D because there are a lots of options that I do no manage for work in three dimensions.
- Extremely time consuming and frustrating for the amount of work produced.
Pros
- Sketchup has gained popularity because of its easy UI. Compared to other 3D modeling applications, it is very easy to understand the interface and functionality.
- Has an awesome community of users and developers that make it even greater (with their extensions). Been using it for more than 10+ years.
- I liked the idea of SketchUp. It looked like a really cool design tool, I liked that it was free for schools and that it worked on Chromebooks.
Cons
- It has some Trouble One of that, An Obejct should Be GROUP before make Another object On that If not When Move an object Everything will Stretch and Collapse.
- This can be frustrating which is why a warning feature would be appreciated for this type of issue.
- Occasionally I get stuck from a line that hasn’t been drawn on the same plane and it makes closing a surface area or project section out.
