All-in-one great software

So far my experience is great. I'm looking forward to transitioning to this platform permanently for our business needs.

Fair, but won’t renew

I am almost finished with my year of using Houzz Pro, and do not plan to renew. The referral system invites comparison shopping and often are not ideal clients.

PROS

I like the kitchen, layout tools for cabinetry

CONS

I find Houzz Pro to be cumbersome, and seems to lack common stock options.

Reasons for switching to Houzz Pro

The marketing aspect had potential the rendering are a bit better, but way more expensive.

Houzz Pro offers us the ability to get estimates out quickly and accurately and helps us manage the flow of jobs. It’s a real time saver.

CONS

Have not found anything we don’t like yet but I would like the ability to 3d draw exterior options for people as well as decks and landscaping.

Easy software for project management

In general, my experience has been good compared to other software that I have used, the price is a little high considering that they offer an app but it does not give 100% of the offers. anyway they are always making improvements!

PROS

Definitely my favorite software tool is the ease of creating product spec sheets. I also like that the client can interact on the platform approving and disapproving products.

CONS

- The client usually doesn't have time, so the least I liked so far is that the mobile application doesn't work the same as the desktop version. Even for me when I am working outside my desktop and I need quick access it is not possible, for example you cannot access 100% of the dashboard from the app, the board products do not appear in the mobile app. - The client does not have access to the product links unless I manually copy the link into the description.

One Stop Design Business Management

My experience has being great, I started using Houzz more as a marketing tool, but as I discover the massive amount of tools it provides, I run my entire business from it.

PROS

I have being a user since I open my studio 4 years ago. Over the years I have being very surprised many times as they keep making the workflow more intuitive and keep adding features that make my work much more easier. I can definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to improve their design management and client communication tools. I am sure once you use it you hardly would want to use anything else.

CONS

Houzz continues to improve constantly, so I have the good feeling they they will address some glitches that come here and there. I am not super fan of their calendar appointment integration, I think there is a lot of room for improvement there, it isn't reliable, luckily I add my other booking links to my Houzz templates to overcome this.. and it works for me

Comprehensive platform for Interior Designers

As a relatively new design business (in my 5th year),I can say that I'm very satisfied with the product. It was easy to get up and running, managing projects, sourcing, etc. I especially liked the IVY app.

PROS

One stop shop for interior design project management. Ease of use once you learn how to navigate. Periodic updates based on user feedback.

CONS

Not able to access all platform features on the Houzz app

I started using IVY while in Design School to help manage school projects. After graduation, I was already invested in the platform and used it as my design firm platform for everything. I didn't even consider another product, although many colleagues have talked about some that they use.

Helpful management tool

It has been so helpful for my business. I felt more professional right off the bat. It is organized and I love that they are constantly improving.

PROS

I love to invoice with Pro. I like how clean it is and easy to use. The improvements lately have been great as well.

CONS

There are some kinks in the way we clean up the products and services. Some things are not very easy to figure out when it comes to billing. The way that you clock in hours is also a bit confusing.

Had more specific interior design tools which I needed. I don't use all of them but I like having them handy.

PROS

I like having all the functions I need to conduct business in one program. Houzz Pro is easy to use and the support team is very helpful, if they are needed.

CONS

I really don't know what I don't like about this program. Even though I have used it for 4 years, I don't take advantage of all it offers. I have been too busy to "play" with the new functions they have recently added.

A great value and very important for my business marketing and project invoicing.

I have been so thrilled with the level of leads, customer service (immediate response times), ease of use. I recommend it to all of the designers in my groups.

PROS

Houzz Pro has sent me so many leads that I have actually turned into long term clients. I love the ease of invoicing too.

CONS

The new format for invoicing is a learning curve for me, but once I get used to it, the program is better now than when I started

Great software for Interior Designers

Overall houzz is a very valuable tool for my business, and helps our design firm source and track products for our clients

PROS

Our team uses Houzz Pro to source product for clients, track billable hours, send proposals to clients, invoice clients, create purchase orders, and track products through installation. Essentially I view Houzz Pro as a fantastic PRODUCT MANAGEMENT software.

CONS

Some things I dont like about Houzz Pro; it could be much more robust when it comes to helping a manager of a larger design firm manage time and billable hours, etc. I wish there was a dashboard where I could see real time info on who is clocked in for billable time, how many billable hours our team has recorded for the month or year, as well as sales data reporting. I used to own a boutique and used Quickbooks Point of Sale and it had an amazing dashboard where I could customize the reports and see all sorts of important info as the business owner. All that data is inside Houzz but there's not an admin dashboard that at a glance gives you data reporting. Also the CRM feature could be better.

I actually use Asana in tandem with Houzz Pro. I chose Houzz Pro over Mydoma though because I personally liked the interface more.

HP... a work in progress!

We do like the system overall! The client facing system is professional; however, there are several enhancements we are waiting for to make this a one stop shop for our clients and our projects.

PROS

We love the room boards and file storage.

CONS

There is a LONG way to go to get the Selections Reports we need without doctoring the documents we export from HP. Also... the online payment options are confusing and have caused us to look foolish as it is not easy to navigate for our clients.

Beware, not the end all that you are promised.

Pressure, a word that accurately describes the sales tactics after you subscribe to purchase the extras needed to supposedly make it all work.

PROS

3d plans, estimating. And customer info management.

CONS

Does not mesh well with quick books Canada. We participated in an hour long survey for a 100.00$ credit. It took 8 messages to support and 3 months to recieve.We have been ghosted on asking to cancel for 3 weeks now. FYI they cancel support tickets after 48 hours.Change orders are horrible, FYI will not hold up in a Nova Scotia court. Unable to adjust invoices if posted. Lots of spam.They promise you the moon only to find out you need to pay +600.00$ more a month to use the lead generation part.Pricing increases of 40$ this month per user.Better solutions exist for less money. It's really not Canadian friendly.

Every thing is at my fingertips.

Absolutely the most comprehensive and complete management app I have used, currently.

PROS

The start-up tool and the photo measurement tool. Very easy to use.

CONS

An accounting tool like Quickbooks but part of the Houzz Pro management package. Maybe integration of financing options for potential clients. It would completely overtake the market. It would put Houzz Pro in a position of exclusivity no one could dismiss.

While these other product are very valuable in what they offer: accounting software, financing options for clients and crm programs, Houzz Pro has done a far superior job in the estimating/invoicing/pricing/online payments and the communication platform for messaging between clients and contractor.

Great for a small business.

Notes from "Billing and Invoice" section on previous page: (I needed to delete these comments in order to continue to this page). I like the option to create and use templates to customize my invoices. It's nice to add a logo, but once you add it, you have to replace it with another image. I wish there was an option to set the invoice due date to always be on the 1st of each month or 4 weeks from the day of the invoice being sent. I also feel it is redundant to have two due dates listed on the invoice. Currently, I have to toggle back to edit the invoice because the date didn't update. Once an invoice is sent, it would be nice to automatically return to the all invoices page.

Fantastic new layout!! I can see improvements have been made since I started with Houzz Pro.

CONS

The time keeping and invoicing needs to improve.

10/10 Recommend Houzz Pro for Designers

Houzz is a very easy platform to learn. I love being able to create proposals and present room boards to my clients all in one place. One of the best features is the chat option where a team member quickly gets back to me with any question I have, no matter how small. I have even seen Houzz make changes to its user interface based on feedback from pro accounts, making me feel heard and valued. Thanks for everything!!

PROS

My favorite features of Houzz Pro is the proposal and invoicing system. I can turn a room board into a proposal with one click and can customize any proposal to show as much or as little as I want! Once a proposal is approved, I simply turn it into an invoice with one button and send it off to collect payment. So easy breezy!I also have to mention that the chat system connects you with a real person, not a bot. This makes THE MOST difference compared to other management systems. I will never take this feature for granted.

CONS

It was a bit of a learning curve to figure out where everything was that I wanted to access. Some functions weren't as intuitive as others. Thankfully, the chat button makes this so much easier! Whenever I have felt "lost" learning this system, someone gets back to me in a few minuets with a solution or answer to my question.

Houzz Pro has an ease to its functionality. It also is laid out in a way that is easy to "read" vs some of the other platforms. I really like the ease of the room board and displaying all of my selections. I can drag and drop individual selections and lay it out in a way that tells a story.

it is my back pocket power card.

I am still using it for leads, tracking, portfolio display, and reviews to build new business.

PROS

The analytics are very helpful to keep track of progress and what is showing as successful.

CONS

No scheduling component for projects and all the phases of present product, price product, order product, the product arrives/delivered/inspected. All helpful for the communication of the project and job site progress.

I am using both. I am trying to evaluate if stepping back from CoConstruct and using Houz Pro is a valid tool replacement.

Using Houzz Pro

A-. I have a user of Houzz and all his resources since I open my business 10 years ago. Overall, I'm extremely happy and I love all the growth and opportunities to tie my website in with the profile, the 3-D, rendering options, and all the bells and whistles that you provide. There are areas where it needs improvement from the user, friendly, use ability perspective… but overall it has been good. Some of the lead resource page could be a little less cumbersome… But overall again, I've been able to navigate and make it useful.

Leads, 3d rendering, communications for client with idea books

CONS

some 3 d is limited. Needs more options, need a true mood board that can be personalized with my business logo and being able to pull products that are not just Houzz into he template. Need to be more user friendly.

Houzz Pro

It's been a bit bumpy. I've had different people tell me different things on occasion.Seems like there's a lot of confusion among employees.

PROS

My Firm uses Houzz Pro mostly for presentation of proposals, invoices, mood boards and tear sheets.

CONS

Some things are clunky. You should be able to turn a mood board into a proposal automatically, for example. Instead, everything must be added manually. Also, I'm disappointed that our tear sheets, proposals and invoices cannot be customized to look like our business branding instead of Houzz Pro's.

Great integration of portfolio, website, advertising

I have had a steady reliable account manager who regularly checks in with me to outline new features that were introduced, and even actually created the first version of our website which I subsequently tweaked a bit and personalized, but I was really impressed that she took the time to do this. This is definitely unique in the marketplace.

PROS

I like the integration between our Houzz profile content and creating a website from it. It allows me to keep a portfolio of our work that I can direct clients to along with the creation and management of our website which is hosted by Houzz. It provides a single portal for managing leads from people who choose us in general searches on Houzz such as what they call Houzz Project Match, to leads that come directly through our website which is hosted by Houzz. They all show up in the same place. With the addition of the website tools and a fair bit of customization of our website using them, it has really provided an easy solution for a fair bit of our marketing. I would highly recommend it, especially for a smaller company that does not already have an up to date website. Also, remarkably, since hosting our website on Houzz our organic search engine ranking is unexpectedly high after switching over a year ago.

CONS

I would love even more website creation tools but I also recognize that with more complexity, it might go beyond my capability to use these new tools.

As far as I know Houzz is pretty unique. The combination of allowing you to have a public portfolio alongside a website hosted by them, and the opportunity to reach new clients, it is really a unique offering.

Areas for Improvement

Overall, it has been an okay experience. The program is good but in the 4 years I have been paying I have only had 1 prospective client become a client and completed a project. I think that the idea is to pay more to get more areas but so far, I have not been able to the money I have invested in Houzz.

I like that the program is easy to use. [sensitive content hidden], my sales rep has made all the difference and always convinces me to keep renewing the membership. She is very prompt to reply all of my questions.

CONS

I feel that most of the clients are not serious about their projects. It bothers me that I take the time to reply to their inquiry and they do not even acknowledge it. When I call sometimes, they act surprised. It would be great to ask the prospective client how serious or if they are just searching for ideas.I have met with several prospective clients, and I feel they just wanted my ideas and then hired a contractor to implement them.I would like a better program to draw and present to clients with a better selection of furnishings. The design program only has a limited selection of furnishings. It could be more user friendly.Calls:I do not pick-up unknown numbers, it would be ideal that if a Houzz Rep is calling because they have a match on the phone, that the id says Houzz says HOUZZ, so I know to pick it up.

Scam

HORRENDOUS. I am still having to pay monthly for something we cannot even use. Zero customer service. Zero training. Zero care for their customers.

PROS

This product has a lot of features that could be useful if Houzz actually taught you how to use it. Buyer beware. Customer service is nonexistent.

CONS

They sold me on something they promised we would get ample training on. They started our subscription before the 30 day trial was up then refused to cancel our subscription. They paired us with an advisor that was in a time zone 4 hours behind us so we were never able to connect. Then when we finally did, she ran through her "training" in less than 5 minutes. After expressing my concerns about the time difference with our trainer, they placed us with someone in Arkansas. The night before our training I got an email cancelation with no explanation of why he canceled. Anytime I had a question I'd try to use the online chat option. It would take someone 3-5 days to reply. When they did replay, they just referred me to links on the website and youtube videos. TRAINING does not exist. They ran me through hours of calls trying to get this resolved but all the account manager kept telling me was that she'd give me 1 month free and she was sorry I felt the way I did. SCAMMERS. Robotic. They do not care that they sold me on something that was a pure lie. Look at other reviews. I am not the only one.

Not the same Houzz it use to be

we do not have a need for all the additional services as we already have an established business with a website and email already set up, as well as an invoicing system, calendar, etc. especially since not a lot of our clients are from houzz. When this was strictly a platform to showcase your work for potential projects, we received many projects from direct messages. But since everything changed years ago, we continue to struggle to actually get any response from anyone.

This was a great place to showcase projects to gain potential clients

CONS

Ever since the first changes were made, when they started to prompt potential clients with a survey asking them about their project, we quite receiving direct messages. We stopped getting people seeking us out because they saw our profile and wanted us specifically. Instead, they are now inundated with multiple calls from all the designers who received the potential project, which I'm sure is frustrating on their part. Many times (most) when we call those potential clients, we never even get an answer. We leave a message, we follow up with an email through Houzz, and almost never hear from any of them. The ones we do actually get to speak with again, usually don't go anywhere, and those few that actually meet with us, end because they do not have a realistic budget (or not the budget they suggested they have on their survey). We use to receive multiple high end whole home projects, but recently the only projects we get are single room, or just accessories.

Back end user interface needs work

The front end of Houzz looks professional and is great visually to showcase projects. I like that paying for services in Houzz Pro now enables short project videos to be created for projects. Overall, Houzz and Houzz Pro feel totally disconnected and like two totally different tools that don't actually "speak" to one another.

PROS

The visuals on Houzz are great. We only use Houzz Pro to support or company marketing.

CONS

We only use Houzz/Houzz Pro for marketing purposes and do not use it as a CRM, project management, estimating or take off tool. I do not like that the back end interface for setting up service areas and scope has to be changed manually and individually for each subscription (rather than apply changes to all service areas). Also, new projects default to the end of the projects list. They should default to newest first as dragging from the bottom of a list of 80 pages is time consuming. There are too many sub menus within each subscription. So, for example, in the public profile set up in Houzz, our scope of services is easy to manage and regularly updated, but it is not replicated in Houzz Pro subscriptions so you have to manually go in and update each one. Overall, there are just too many places to have to update the same information and be clear about what it being pulled from where in Houzz Pro for the public profile and for pro directory. We are yet to see results of paying for Houzz Pro.
