PROcru is an on-premise business management solution for small to midsize construction companies. Key features include customer relationship management (CRM), estimating, project proposals, scheduling, performance reporting, job costing and billing. It is compatible with Mac operating systems and a mobile app for iOS devices is also available.

PROcru includes CRM functionality that is able to track information on sites, property managers and companies. Users can set auto reminders for existing proposals and sales opportunities as well as upcoming job schedules.

The solution includes an auto-bidding functionality which can be used when providing estimates. The mobile app and desktop solution include tools for timekeeping along with labor, equipment and material costing. The solution also enables users to automatically bill straight from the dashboard.

    I have used HCSS in past and find PROcru software to be much more intuitive and user friendly.

    Pros

    Contains all the critical info needed to run business, be transparent with key stakeholders and hold sales and operations accountable for their responsibilities..

    Cons

    Reports and dashboards need to be more robust. PROcru has taken feedback and created some great dashboards recently, but some of the reports are not easy to use with teams and the ability to drill down and export data needs improvement to make for more efficient data analysis. Having to get PROcru to build the reports for users is not ideal.

    Excellent software that lets us know how we are performing much sooner than the other companies.

    We are able to manage a job minute by minute and not after it is all over. It allows us to continually adjust how we bid and construct these projects.

    Pros

    This software allows us to have performance review meetings on a weekly basis with the leaders and the can see how each phase of the job has progressed. It has allowed us to change how we manage projects and budgets.

    Cons

    There are a few rough edges and navigation issues that we assume will be ironed out over time. We hope to see less of an asphalt emphasis and more of an overall construction focus.

    Efficient operations, better tracking on jobs, improved communication between field and office, a paperless system

    Pros

    Really enjoy capturing the costs from our vendors to estimate more accurately and quickly. We like the multiple locations/buttons to navigate through the system. Exporting data is easy. The different dashboards to view the business from different "hats" our small business wears is very helpful. The support desk responds promptly and thoroughly on all our concerns, needs, or changes. We love the traffic control option and tracking and expect it will lower our cost. It is very nice to have actual costing so quickly on jobs. Scheduling is simple and easy to manipulate in our ever changing job schedule. Invoicing is really easy as well. So many functions that we are enjoying and so many functions we have not tapped into yet.

    Cons

    We do not like that a project cannot be deleted without contacting support. We continuously have connecting issues with the field iPads, although this is beginning to not happen as often.

    We went from 5 platforms to 2 before we met ProCru. After meeting ProCru we are still operating two platforms (ProCru and QuickBooks) but my staff are getting more bids out, a higher rate of closings and a faster more efficient job procurement. We are bidding 5 jobs more per week, and our closings have increased by 5%.

    Cons

    Change order system needs a complete overhaul. It needs to be more like a AIA billing system with the change orders. The scheduling I would like to see more graphs / dashboard verses reading and seeking where things are. If the system could communicate to QuickBooks with customer contact, vendor contact and vendor invoices it would increase efficiency with accounting and the field.

    I like that all of the information for all of our clients is now in one place!

    Pros

    The ease of finding what we need, whether it be a CRM company name, contact, site, project, etc, is quite easy to find

    Cons

    Still kinks to be worked out. We can upload documents and pictures ok, but trying to print them from ProCru is impossible. Also, would be nice to have each page numbered, when it's a large proposal. Phone #'s still show up on proposal wrong. We input a WORK and MOBILE #, but same # shows up on proposal, even though we have 2 different #'s saved in there.

    Speeding up my estimates running reports to see how we doing on jobs and scheduling. Knowing how many man-hours I have booked out

    Pros

    It's paving specific. It really helped to speed up my estimates we are learning little tricks all the time to help with the estimating. I've learned a lot about production rates using the software and it has really become valuable in my estimating and then all the reports are awesome learning more reports all the time

    Cons

    I think it was a mistake having the training before we set up the back office if I could do it over again I would have set up the back office and then started training I feel I forgot a lot of the little things they taught us after the four weeks it took us to build the back office

    Centralized data, effective project scheduling, easy communication of project specs with crew, job costing made MUCH easier

    Pros

    ProCru is great in that it centralizes a huge volume of information into a single system from the point of taking the lead to invoicing the customer and costing out the project. There's a huge amount of data that the program collects that's ripe for mining. It's highly customizable and ProCru Support is extremely responsive to customization and technical support requests.

    Cons

    The software is not smooth and shiny; it's not incredibly intuitive. There is a bit of a learning curve with the software and its quirks. The initial setup is labor-intensive, but this is to be expected with adapting the software to the company's needs.
