STACK Takeoff & Estimating Software

STACK Estimating from STACK Construction Technologies is a cloud-based on-screen takeoff and estimating tool for professional contractors of all business sizes in most trades.

With STACK Estimating, users are able to produce bids with user-defined pricing, allowing them to calculate costs more accurately. Users are able to execute their own takeoffs within the program, or they can request the STACK team to do the work for them with a single click via the STACK To-Go tool.

The reporting module organizes data by location, division, or trade while a coverage rate calculator helps determine the quantity and type of materials required for a project.

STACK Estimating also provides pre-built catalogs for some trades that include in-depth lists of equipment, labor, and materials users need based on customizable historical experience.

STACK Estimating is accessible on Macs, PCs, and mobile devices so users can bid for work from anywhere.

Stack is one of the greatest estimating software i used for construction

Pros

I like that you can you it on any of your devices, computer, phone, laptop. Everything is web based so you can access anytime anywhere.

Cons

The only thing I do not like is the price, I think it should be a bit more affordable, because once you pay for just the software you still have to pay for their assemblies to use them or else you will have to create your own.

Intuitive Estimating Software

Pros

I like that this program is a cloud based take-off service and is very useful when working at different locations that I can open up working files to pick up right where i left off.

Cons

I only had problems when I uploaded a PDF and the file structure was correct. I received help from their customer service which helped me convert my file to a working file.

A bit difficult to use

Pros

I found Stack confusing and a bit difficult to use. It seemed like the takeoffs I was able to do with it were accurate, which is always a plus.

Cons

Again, it was a bit difficult to use. Also, Stack sent me about 100 emails, which was very annoying.

Good, but can be expensive

Pros

Overall, Stack can be a pretty powerful tool or it can be as basic as you need it to be. Our company is fairly small, and we can be trying to bid many jobs at once, so this is a nice tool to keep each job organized. The cloud accessibility makes it very helpful for us to be able to access in the office or out in the field.

Cons

The worst part of this software is the price. It is pretty steep for a 'per user' subscription, and that has made me a little weary of it. Ultimately, this is like a streamlined version of Excel or Google Sheets, and with the price it makes it difficult to justify this program over those.

Hard core estimating software

Estimating is big time consuming operation in construction field, this gives us some relief from the same

Pros

Its the best hard core estimating software money can buy for all estimating needs. It doesn't matter if you are small scale firm or giant one taking simplest or the most complex job for estimating, this once covers you for every needs. It reduces takeoff time by nearly 60 - 70%, which is a lot for me as I do work remotely and this one gives me some time to wander off

Cons

Too many details in the software which are some times not that much needed, but hey! more options are better some time. Apart of this I love the software

Great for Commercial.

Pros

STACK Takeoff & Estimating Software is pretty intuitive and easy to use. I have used it some but I usually work managing projects and use a different software for that application. I only use it when i help with bids.

Cons

at times it overloads my computer and gets a bit glitch.

Take-off with Stack

Pros

This learning curve with this product is not very steep. All tasks are user friendly and can be esily learned.

Easy to use takeoff software!

Staff at Stack are easy to talk to and always available. Also very helpful when you first start up with doing the online training.

Pros

The ease of use for this software is by far its biggest point along with functionality. Uploading pdf files of plans and specs is quick and easy and being able export a table of all your takeoff items helps in the estimating process.

Cons

There isn't very much to not like with this software, overall I say for the price you pay you are getting more than enough for your moneys worth.

Where was this program 10 years ago!

Pros

Overall, the easy way to turn your analog plan sets into a digital takeoff experience that keeps your gathered information right at your fingertips. Being able to take a non-scaled plan and scan it into the system with only one know dimension, and then to be able to perform accurate take-offs is a real plus. The program allows you to simply click through specific plan pages instead of turning through all of them to locate what you need.

Cons

It would be nice if the zoom and pan features operated similarly to other programs like sketch-up and Chief Architect.

Very Useful

I use stack every single day. It allows me to bid from plans which is paramount to our success. It also allows me to check and make sure architects scales are right because I can set my own scale and check.

Pros

It allows me to quickly and accurately measure jobs with confidence.

Cons

Sometimes is a little glitchy. I will have times where it freezes on me for extended periods or sometime buttons disappear and I have to refresh page to bring them back. Its not awful, just a mild annoyance.

Take-Off is a Breeze!

Great software, affordable, user friendly and all around asset for our team!

Pros

Stack makes quantity take-off a snap with incredibly easy and thorough software. Files are easily loaded, sorted and named, saving massive amounts of prep time. Take off is incredibly user friendly and includes sorting and reporting functions to manipulate your data.

Cons

Single biggest change we would prefer to see, would be the capability to highlight a specific take-off and be returned to the specific sheet/sheets containing take-off.

Loving our STACK

We are a small company, so our budget for estimating software needed the biggest bang for the buck. We are very happy with STACK and have never doubted our decision to go with them.

Pros

Ease of use; accessible and strong support team, and it comes with that great price. We are very happy we went with STACK. We highly recommend it!

Cons

The only issue we have had is when (and this is not usually an issue) our internet is down. If we end up using one of our devices as a hot spot, we get intermittent service. But to be expected under those conditions.

Stack is easy to use and helps me quickly get quantities for pojects.

I like stack and it's compatibility with Smartbid.

Pros

Ease of creating tools and moving from page to page within the project. It is nice being able to see the individual lines divided out from page to page as well.

Cons

Saving tools so that you can used them from job to job would be nice instead o having to rebuild he each time you start a new job.

That dog will hunt

Ha, I like this program, after doing material estimate for so long with a scale ruler and calculator this is a whole lot quicker and easier.

Pros

The support team, I haven't thrown anything their way that they couldn't handle quickly. From not being able to get plans downloaded correctly, to setting up some training in the beginning, to answering question about how to email your estimate from stack they have made it great to work with.

Cons

They still don't have a good quick and easy way to figure hips & valley on a cut up roof. But, I am sure they are working on this to make it better

Use on all take-offs getting even better with the constant upgrades

use every day!

Pros

Ease of use.... no more standing at a print table measuring. easy to delete plan pages not being used

Cons

Setting up systems a little time consuming, Please move the scale set up box to the left a few inches or in center of screen, finding it sets over the page numbers and blocks this..

Wish i had time

Need more training and need to see the value that training provides.

Pros

fast easy flooring takeoffs, compatible, user friendly, aware of it's continued updates, value, etc.

Cons

Giving it the time required to learn the software and implement it more effectively. Small company wants to grow but add'l user fees make it more difficult.

Stack certainly does help alot with landscape takeoffs, and has helped me be more efficient and organized when bidding a project. Thanks

Pros

I like to use the calendar to organize my bid due dates.
I like how all takeoff items can be designed to my liking and use.
I like how I can color the take off sheets.

Cons

The cost seems a little high but I have learned to except it.
I would like to see the renewal rate be less if I promise to stay with Stack.

Good estimate and cost program

Pros

Easy to use and works all the time, happy with the software so far. Saves time on labor costs for sure

Cons

Smartphone access would be great to have so contractor can have the take offs in hands at all times
