Where was this program 10 years ago!

Pros

Overall, the easy way to turn your analog plan sets into a digital takeoff experience that keeps your gathered information right at your fingertips. Being able to take a non-scaled plan and scan it into the system with only one know dimension, and then to be able to perform accurate take-offs is a real plus. The program allows you to simply click through specific plan pages instead of turning through all of them to locate what you need.

Cons

It would be nice if the zoom and pan features operated similarly to other programs like sketch-up and Chief Architect.

Very Useful

I use stack every single day. It allows me to bid from plans which is paramount to our success. It also allows me to check and make sure architects scales are right because I can set my own scale and check.

Pros

It allows me to quickly and accurately measure jobs with confidence.

Cons

Sometimes is a little glitchy. I will have times where it freezes on me for extended periods or sometime buttons disappear and I have to refresh page to bring them back. Its not awful, just a mild annoyance.

Take-Off is a Breeze!

Great software, affordable, user friendly and all around asset for our team!

Pros

Stack makes quantity take-off a snap with incredibly easy and thorough software. Files are easily loaded, sorted and named, saving massive amounts of prep time. Take off is incredibly user friendly and includes sorting and reporting functions to manipulate your data.

Cons

Single biggest change we would prefer to see, would be the capability to highlight a specific take-off and be returned to the specific sheet/sheets containing take-off.

Loving our STACK

We are a small company, so our budget for estimating software needed the biggest bang for the buck. We are very happy with STACK and have never doubted our decision to go with them.

Pros

Ease of use; accessible and strong support team, and it comes with that great price. We are very happy we went with STACK. We highly recommend it!

Cons

The only issue we have had is when (and this is not usually an issue) our internet is down. If we end up using one of our devices as a hot spot, we get intermittent service. But to be expected under those conditions.

Stack is easy to use and helps me quickly get quantities for pojects.

I like stack and it's compatibility with Smartbid.

Pros

Ease of creating tools and moving from page to page within the project. It is nice being able to see the individual lines divided out from page to page as well.

Cons

Saving tools so that you can used them from job to job would be nice instead o having to rebuild he each time you start a new job.

That dog will hunt

Ha, I like this program, after doing material estimate for so long with a scale ruler and calculator this is a whole lot quicker and easier.

Pros

The support team, I haven't thrown anything their way that they couldn't handle quickly. From not being able to get plans downloaded correctly, to setting up some training in the beginning, to answering question about how to email your estimate from stack they have made it great to work with.

Cons

They still don't have a good quick and easy way to figure hips & valley on a cut up roof. But, I am sure they are working on this to make it better

Use on all take-offs getting even better with the constant upgrades

use every day!

Pros

Ease of use.... no more standing at a print table measuring. easy to delete plan pages not being used

Cons

Setting up systems a little time consuming, Please move the scale set up box to the left a few inches or in center of screen, finding it sets over the page numbers and blocks this..

Wish i had time

Need more training and need to see the value that training provides.

Pros

fast easy flooring takeoffs, compatible, user friendly, aware of it's continued updates, value, etc.

Cons

Giving it the time required to learn the software and implement it more effectively. Small company wants to grow but add'l user fees make it more difficult.

Stack certainly does help alot with landscape takeoffs, and has helped me be more efficient and organized when bidding a project. Thanks

Pros

I like to use the calendar to organize my bid due dates.
I like how all takeoff items can be designed to my liking and use.
I like how I can color the take off sheets.

Cons

The cost seems a little high but I have learned to except it.
I would like to see the renewal rate be less if I promise to stay with Stack.

I love Stack

Pros

Its so user friendly and the staff is always available to help and calling in to check in and tell me about new features and products.

Cons

Not much of any cons. I wish I could switch a take off to another take off name instead of having to delete it and redo it.

Used to be fond of Stack, but not lately

Stack was great in the beginning and it seems when Stack starting making changes or updates things are not working as well. Autoname - pretty much is a mess If I have too much take off it slows up tremendously we constantly have freezing and have to shut down, our internet speed is fine have made requests since we started using this in April and still have not seen the changes

Pros

metals catalog - has majority steel items which is great
ease of entering items
scaling usually works
reports features

Cons

auto-name - not working
program is slow
cannot print our items list as a report
freezing up and having to refresh constantly

Overall Great Software

Pros

Stack is user friendly. From the beginning, the customer service is helpful, offering screen share to navigate and train on the functions and uses. The program is very user friendly and works with ease. You can upload any documents you need and perform several takeoffs across an array of several projects. The quantity takeoff function is very easy to use with several options in color, scales, dimension lines, legends, highlighting, call outs, and text boxes.

Cons

Sometimes the program can run a tad slow when trying to upload a large plan set or download the takeoffs to your desktop. Often, this problem resolves its self with a restart and if needed, customer service is happy and willing to help on their end as well.

Stack Estimating Tool

All in all, the program is very helpful, and is evolving all the time. If you looking for a reasonably priced take off solution this would be it.

Pros

The program is easy to use for doing material take offs, and stripping down a project, it is reasonably priced for what the program does and there is training available for the users that need that little extra help.

Cons

I would say the cons would be, the time it takes to go through and add your item costs, even though adding the item costs are simple, it can be a time consuming process, as well as building custom items. However, building a custom item is not as difficult as building a custom assembly can be.

Great Help

Pros

The "cut" feature in TakeOff is a very helpful tool that helps save a lot of time. Also the report breakdown is useful

Cons

Autoname sometimes doesn't work real well and can sometimes make things even more difficult -- to be fair this might have to do more with the uploaded project plans than with Stack b/c it works great too sometimes.

In my fourth year as a product user and it just keeps getting better!

Stack has excellent support and they are continually notifying me of new features that come at NO additional cost to me. I would highly recommend giving Stack a try if you haven't yet.

Pros

I especially like that this is easy to use and modify as needed for each project. I have recently began using the Library feature and it has decreased my take-off time significantly. I use it as my primary bid calendar and can make adjustments to dates and information quickly with little effort.

Cons

Sometimes there are glitch effects that are usually the result of internet connections or speed. Overall there is not one thing that I would have to say negatively about the product itself.

Easy to use

Pros

- Ease of use.
- Awesome customer support.
- Several options to perform your takeoff, such as 2d surfaces, drywall, floors, paint among others.

Cons

- Please add circles to the drawing tool. To draw a circle you have to do like 500 clicks. The same issue happens with the cutting tool, please add the circle function too!
