- Value for money: 3.7/5
- Functionality: 3.9/5

### Rating distribution

- 5 stars: 81 reviews (31%)

- 3 stars: 49 reviews (18%)
- 2 stars: 10 reviews (4%)
- 1 star: 13 reviews (5%)

### Most mentioned pros

- The automated AP using AI to create the header from a scanned invoice speeds up our entry process and the approval processes built into the software are outstanding.
- It helps keep my reports easy to find and manage while also allowing me to make custom folders to store specific processes.
- Invoicing your customers has been made easy since you can email the invoices directly to your customers.

### Most mentioned cons

- Viewpoint supported the software when we first implemented but that level of services has dropped off over the last year. When you submit a ticket, you get an email advising of longer than normal wait times.
- We found it 1) cost prohibitive for the size of our business 2) creation of custom documents such as contracts, RFPs and invoices was clunky and cumbersome and required alot of assistance from customer service 3) purchasing all the separate modules seemed cost prohibitive for the size of our company.
- There seem to be a lot of glitches within Vista. When we call/chat for help, it takes an average of 30 days to get a response.

### Extremely customizable software

- Product usage: Used daily for more than 2 years

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The software itself is customizable and very good overall. Their knowledgebase is extensive, but the search features in it don't yield correct results as often as they should. Vista is very customizable, which is extremely importane. You can create user defined fields and tables. You can also connect to the data via SQL, Excel, etc.

#### Cons

They have a suggestion box but getting anything implemented takes multiple years the vast majority of the time. Chat support gets a needs improvement. Far too often in the middle of the day no one is available (including today at 2 PM EST).

#### Reasons for switching to Viewpoint Vista

Forced. Viewpoint bought and depreciated StreetSmarts, so it was convert to Vista or somewhere else.

#### Vendor response

Hi Jon, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate your feedback!

### Viewpoint Vista is Light Years ahead of their competitors

- Overall rating: 5/5

We've been with Viewpoint Vista a little over two-years and overall it's been a great experience. I know we're only using a fraction of what Vista can do and I'm looking forward to optimizing that functionality in the future.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

We converted from Sage 100 to Viewpoint Vista and it's like we jumped light years into the future. The visibility for project managers to see each aspect of their job costs and drilldown to the invoice attachment level is outstanding. I can run reports on every aspect of a job, including a singular phase code. The automated AP using AI to create the header from a scanned invoice speeds up our entry process and the approval processes built into the software are outstanding. Invoice approvers see their invoices needing approval as soon as AP enters them, which has sped up our month-end close. The ability to custom the software by adding custom fields, buttons and reports allows us to tailor the software to our specific needs.

#### Cons

The lack of included reports for financial statements is a downside, but using Insight Software's Spreadsheet Server solves that issue, for an additional cost. It also requires you to purchase a license for your consultants to have access to our software to write custom reports.

#### Reasons for choosing Viewpoint Vista

The payroll module was California compliant with Vista and was not with CMIC.

#### Reasons for switching to Viewpoint Vista

We grew out of Sage's capabilities and had to create workarounds for all processes.

Great software for programers

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 1/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Viewpoint allows you to customize the user experience as much as you want. Things like custom fields, triggers causing updates to tables and custom look ups allow you to customize it.

#### Cons

Not a friendly user interface, looks like it was made in Windows 98. The tables between SM and JC on the back end are confusing if working in SQL

### Vista is OK- But requires many clicks to get what you need

VA UI is challenging. Difficult in setting up roles. When you finally get support, they are great, but sometimes lack the detail required to address the issue.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Vista is a solid ERP with many options to tailor to the needs of your business. Provides good customization.

#### Cons

Confusing approach to setting up employee roles, security, jobs, etc. Several modules need to be changed to be more efficient- Way too many clicks. Getting support is extremely slow. If support is provided via email, sometimes the information is cryptic and only made for Tech people, not true users. It is very expensive for the various role levels that we have. When we "upgraded" to the cloud, the cost DOUBLED. It is very difficult to create custom reports and the UI in TC1 for reporting is lackluster. AP Automation does not use true AI. We were told that it would "Learn" invoice detail. It's been over a year and it hasn't learned very well, if at all. The fact that it doesn't allow an area to input a Job number in the initial entry is a big miss.

Vista is amazing and it integrates well with other services out there. The most customizable accounting system out there. SQL Server means PowerBI, Crystal Reports, Excel data imports, SSRS. Your options are limitless. All data is structured very simple and easy to work with.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Ability to customize reports, programs and create custom dashboards. All data goes through a batch system with approvals before getting posted.

#### Cons

Since Trimble acquired Viewpoint the user management and login processes has become very complicated and as of March 2026 they forced all users to a named user system, our company had shared Vista logins and we had to fend for ourselves with no time to prepare and adjust.

#### Reasons for choosing Viewpoint Vista

Because of me - I am a reports developer who had worked with Vista for many years

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5

When we call/chat for help, it takes an average of 30 days to get a response. the integration with Procore is inconsistent. We are constantly having issued. I would never recommend this product to anyone I actually like.

#### Ratings breakdown

Invoicing your customers has been made easy since you can email the invoices directly to your customers.

Job Cost and WIP is strong, and once it’s set up, it allows employee input for daily production activity with few errors. It does a good job of tying the money side to what’s actually happening on projects, which makes life easier for both accounting and project teams.

#### Cons

Initially it can be trial and error to get the system setup for all departments with rules and limitations. Reports and charts will take some coding knowledge for perfect charts.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5

#### Pros

All team members will be able to see the company's supply basket, which includes invoices, quotes, and requests. Enhances the ability to access all relevant data from a single control panel, making transitioning between tasks simpler. Everyone on the crew will receive regular updates and alerts to keep all requests current and under evaluation with Vista. Vista will also increase supplier-worker communication, hence minimizing the risk of supply chain disruption. To ensure that everyone's entitlements and rights are known, it has kept the supply chain tracking processes on track from beginning to end. This has facilitated open and honest agreements between all parties involved.

#### Cons

The staff was able to get up and running with Vista right away after they had completed the training and familiarized themselves with its capabilities and how to use them. There are no drawbacks here.

They sold us the software with implementation services, but their "Professional Services" team just follows a script. They didn't have the necessary experience to understand a business and their complicated suite of software for a successful implementation. I've been through 3 different ERP implementations as an accounting consultant, and know the importance of having people that can translate business needs and current processes, into a a long term ERP solution. The Vista team had none of this. It was just terrible, I don't know how else to describe it.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 1/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

The flexibility and alleged open access for this price range is the best. If it was true and worked, it would be a stellar option for companies that have unique processes that need unique solutions.

#### Cons

The cloud option is a complete joke, really. They're trying, but I don't know that Vista will ever work well on a cloud server. They have purchased a lot of complimentary software companies, and if they could get it to all work well, it would be an awesome product. The problem is they are patching together a lot of old products like it's 15 years ago. A true cloud built platform will come along and blow them out of the water on value. They really don't know how to make this thing work right now.

Extremely frustrating -- we had multiple on site consultants during our conversion and go live process. We spent more time re-doing what the previous consultant set-up because each one had a "better solution". Be prepared to have an onsite programmer or hire a consultant to help you with custom features. Viewpoint support is TERRIBLE! They expect you to read through numerous "articles" (if you can get the links to open) to solve your own issues. They're based in Portland, OR; therefore, if you're located on the East coast --- forget any help until after noon. They rarely respond during the same day.

The reports offered and useful and easy to manipulate. The equipment module is fabulous as well though we don't use it to its full potential just yet.

#### Cons

It is difficult to make a change to something posted in a closed month. I was able to find a way to remedy this online and fixed it immediately. Sometimes it does take customer service a while to call you back on a service ticket, however, most answers can be answered by doing research individually in clear view.
